Blizzards not the blame for WoWclones ... YOU are.

Dammit, it's always my fault. First it was the economy, now this. |

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:Linsey_Murdock/Journal Lots of interesting changes are being planned. From what I've read, it'll be a big shake up (and maybe a much needed one) to the PvP portion of the game. One of my pet peeves is finally being addressed: "Syncing Random - Our server programmer has been investigating how to fix this age-old problem of organized teams appearing in Random Arena, and we’re hoping to have the results in time for this build." |

Computer, me and my son have been playing GW for nearly four years now and we still find plenty to do. I think my kid would agree that neither side really dominates the other as you have to play equal sides of PvE and PvP to make the most out of the game as a whole. Hopefully you'll be entertained long enough for GW2 to take over. |

They won't get anything out of this except for a lof of negative publicity. Their "patent" is the underlying model for every MMO in existence. If they can sue NCsoft, then they can sue everyone else for the same infringement. |

lol Yes, I so loathe anything Blizzard. It's totally apparent by the two whole semi-negative posts I just made. Calm down, fanboy. |

lol...just finished watching the cinematic trailer. I love the LoTR Balrog rip-off:

Agreed, totally. A blast from the past and that's about it. There's nothing new to the game (even the fixed camera angle is identical!), aside from the updated graphics. C'mon, Blizzard...eight years since D2 and this is the best you could come up with? |

I'm the kind of player that makes a character and then gets a black screen. Fun times, I tell ya. |

lots of people ingame are comparing this to Vanguard

Played all the early Atari 2600 stuff. Had an Intellivision, ColecoVision and a Vic20. All fun stuff, but nothing really grabbed me like 'The Bard's Tale' for the C64. |

General: A Tribute to Gary Gygax 1938 - 2008
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/12/08 6:23:28 PM
I kinda figured there might be a tribute to Gary here. Too bad I didn't check in sooner. Anyway, it's 1981... A five-minute chat with a newfound friend on the playground as to what D&D was all about and I was hooked. Swords, monsters and armor? Suddenly kickball is no longer cool. Until you've immersed yourself in that world, it's hard to understand the appeal. But Mr. Gygax helped transform a completely shy and introverted 12 year-old into someone who opened himself up in ways unimaginable through D&D and roleplaying. Artistically I thrived through character drawings, painstakingly painted lead miniatures, and original monster creations to surprise friends and players who were all too familiar with the ol' Monster Manual. And even though I was petrified to go before classmates for any sort of oral report in school, I had no problems GMing daylong games with adults and kids alike, acting out various character voices and FULLY engaging players in MY world. Not long after I was regularly attending The DunDraCon in Oakland, California. Me and my friends would game at events like that on little or no sleep sometimes. Nourishment consisted of NoDoz, Jolt Cola and one pound bags of M&M's. Hotel room? Bed? Who needs it?! I'm probably lucky to have not gone into cardiac arrest from 72-hour stints like that. And all for a game. A game! Or is it? Some would tell you that roleplaying is a way of life.
And Gary's influence on the digital age... I musta been about 16 when the original Bard's Tale for the Commodore 64 hit shelves. I sold off my comic book collection to buy that computer JUST to play that particular game. That was more than 20 years ago. Look at what we have now! All of that...all of *this*...it's all a direct result of Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson's creation. I really hope some big names and big companies step up to the plate sometime this year and really, truly honor what this man introduced the world to. He deserves it. Thanks Gary. |

Perpetual Studios Version Discussion « Star Trek Online 12/04/07 10:21:05 PM
Hmm, hmm, hmm.... Getting a gander at what humans or other familiar races (Klingons, Vulcans, etc.) look like might better help me to appreciate what they're going for style wise. Hopefully more of a realistic look with the modeling versus something WoWish and "toony." Very cool, although I'm having some bad Legacy flashbacks seeing that ship exterior taking up 50% of the screen, lol. Skimming the dev logs, all I know is that there'd better be some interactive ship interiors. The planet and map interiors seem fine, just give us oodles of ship interiors and let everything else compliment that. From what little I've seen and read, so far it looks like they're headed in a good direction. Given what the immense 'Trek universe has to offer, this could easily be the best franchise MMO ever...or just the best MMO ever. Keeping my fingers crossed. |

It is an MMORPG. Massive is termed as hundreds to thousands on a single game server (making no distinction between persistent and instanced). I'm fairly certain GW is doing that at any given time of the day 365 days a year. Aside from the contentional 'massive' description, the rest of the acronym fits Guild Wars to the letter. Anyone arguing the point is clutching at straws. |

If Atari ever refunds me my $49.99 for ToEE I might consider using the money to play this. I don't usually give repeat business to companies that sell me broken games. |

I had high hopes for this game. Two tries at the closed beta eventually paid off, but I was quickly disappointed once I got in. |

Confirming the info from PE and Clavius: yes, the character faces are customizable. I can't give up anymore than that because of the NDA. |
