Star Wars: The Old Republic: More Star Wars!
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/16/11 3:04:37 PM
I wasn't being sarcastic, fyi. I was actually informing intelligent readers of this article as some will no doubt (even with a warning) bitch and moan about queue times. No skin off my nose as I have plenty to do in the mean time (RL, skyrim, MW3, BF3, etc) to keep me plenty occupied. But you are correct when saying there are things to do in the mean time when sitting in a queue. If your sarcasm was directed at me... then, sadly, it was misguided. If it wasn't, then good day to you and happy gaming. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: More Star Wars!
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/16/11 10:07:46 AM
I would also mention that though Bioware is controlling the influx... it is quite the influx. Be expected to wait. Trying to log into The Harbinger server I was #800 in queue with a 50 min wait. I am not complaining as I understand the nature of a new game. However, I did want to let those reading this to know what to expect come actual launch day. |

Guild Wars 2: Guild Drama...Oh NOOOO!
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 9/01/11 3:25:50 PM
In some previous games I am in, many of the members of my guild(s) would split their time between the many guilds they were part of. Most of the time, they would favor the guild that progressed further instead of helping the guild that needs it. This created frustration among those trying to plan raids, groups, events, etc because the characters with the best gear or play style are grouping more with other guilds thus becoming unreliable to the "lower" guild.
If you'd like to be in the guild the progresses, I implore you to join all your characters to that one. If you like to help folks, or enjoy the familial nature of the least progressed guild, bring them all here. I liked how GW1 allows for only 1 guild to be joined, but with an alliance system. It was a good balance. (Sorry for my grammatical and rough nature of this post. I am typing quickly at work. :)) |

Making MMORPG magic more like the magic we love from literature
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/01/11 7:25:59 AM
Apologies if this has been brought up before. Besides environmental effects, it would be neat to have an added "knowledge effect" in the game. Many books I read have wizards, or magic weilders, remember more complex spells using symbols, or ancient incantations. Sometimes these need to be drawn, or memorized only to be forgotten once used (think Raistlin, I think). Anyway, whether or not that is a good idea, I agree with the OP. A more wondrous, complex and meaningful "magical" experience would be awesome. |

Is SWTOR designed to be expanded
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 8/11/11 8:15:45 AM
They have to expand (updates/expansions, etc). It will get stale in a few months if they don't and lose their player base. And WTH is star wars without... wars; specifically space combat? |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: 'Welfare Epics'
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/03/11 1:59:30 PM
Love this idea. Im tired of getting nothing more than a repair bill at the end of most raids.
Also, it kills immersion when you have to kill the same enemy 100x's over. |

Question: Is this the only armor we can get? Or just examples of armor that can be gained? |

Suggestions for ground breaking MMO design
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/20/11 7:18:18 AM
I personally would like to see a PvP system build around a persistent, ever changing, map. A type of conquest type map where one faction can dominate, if they so choose. In doing so, they would set the laws of the land, etc. Those opposing can build resistance groups and such to fight back the oppressors. Think battlefield but on a more persistent level. Of course, there would need to be some safe zones, but you get the point. It would also be cool to have each person control a "squad" much like Brother's in Arms. I dunno... just a massive persistent, non-instanced world that is ever changing by the PvP... Yeah... early here, so thoughts are so collected. |

Crappy indie developers are killing the sandbox genre?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/02/11 11:34:09 AM
I agree that the indie companies aren't helping the genre... there aren't many sanbox games being made by "AAA" companies.
It seems the majority of folks want a themepark type game, or, rather, the AAA companies see that that is what folks want and continue making those instead.
Could be off. But it IS only an opinion. ;P |

New Analyst Estimation: TOR has spent 80M on Dev.

Political interjection has nothing to do with the conversation. Probably could have come up with a clearer comparison... |

Sucks all this happened. I was about to resub, but found 2 issues that kept me from doing so. 1.) The current account security debacle. 2.) I don't want to pay 39.99 for Destiny of Velious... a bit overpriced, IMO. |

A very odd question, yet one that has been seen before. Were I to want to change vocations and get into game design, where/what should I do to begin? Should I enlist in a school such as ITT tech, or what have you, to learn? Or should I just get a C++ book and begin self-learning code and its applications? Both?
Thanks! |

Originally posted by eagles12555 I have a similar resolution and I upgraded to a 6850 1gig instead of a 768mb card. I couldn't imagine pushing that kind of resolution with less. If you have the $$, I would def do that. Besides... more is better is it not?! :P |

If your using a high res monitor (like 1920x1080 or some such), look at getting a 1gig vid card. That will help push out the higher resolutions. If you are using 1280x1024, then you'll be fine with the 768mb card. |

Hope its not a Death Start / Star Forge story line... Seems it would be getting long in the tooth by now... Something important, yes. But please, no large space station! |
