I would really like to see the mission log give you more info on what you have accomplished. For example I am doing the first area Target of Opportunity mission and can't figure out which named bosses I have killed. Having more tracking in the log would be great.

What I see for a Next Gen game would be something that uses a better graphical engine, offers new, interesting and unique gameplay and pushes the genre to a new level.

Ok, but what is "---new, interesting and unique gameplay???"

What qualifies as truly unique and creative?

Usually "---new, interesting and unique gameplay" means a different spin on something that has been done before. Really no game has done everything different. For example TR has an intrest combat system but it really is a different take on FPS so I would not consider it "Next Gen". Can anyone name a game that has been a complete divergence from what has come before?

Well it can be new if its something never done in a genre. Like taking a fighting game system from say Street Fighter, and working it in as the combat system for an MMO. New and Unique can be achieved by just adding an element that has never been tried/used in the genre itself. Though that won't constitute making the game 'Next-Gen'.

I agree with you on this. Putting in something you usually don't find in an MMO would make it different and maybe even better but as you stated not "next Gen". We may not get next gen until we can jack into a game and experience the game world first hand.

Next gen is an industry buzz word that is suppose to wrap the concept of a game using new technology and game concepts not found in older games into one catchy phrase. Unfortunately what it usually means is envelope pushing graphics with little in the way of new types of game play.

I have to agree with Jive. It is already well established that TR is a good MMO with holes in it, some big some small, the size depends on your prespective. This site is full of post of people who played some of the game then posted what was wrong with TR. I think instead of telling people what you did not like about TR or did like we should discuss what we would like to see TR evolve into and which direction we would like to see it take.

What I would like to see in TR is more planets, vehicles, a PVP planet, more customization of armor and weapons, both the looks and the stats.

I would also like to see a spaceship exploration and combat aspect added.

TR has alot of room to expand, it has the whole freaking galaxy. So hopefully NC will take this view and listen to the players and expand TR to be the best sci fi MMO on the market.

And lets hope we can all get in before all of the good names are taken so we dont have to name our characters things like "XxLeeTdUDe3600xX"

I saw VIPER in the blurb about the game and that put this at the top of my "waiting for" list. I used to play the PNP game and if they can stick to that, along with improvements, this is going to be great.

The main draw of the PNP RPG was that you could customize and pretty much make any super power using a points system. Will CO have this aspect or something similar?

I liked WWII online when I tried it and don't understand why no one has made a MMO similar to it. The thing with WWII online is it left me wanting more, more theatres, more vehicles, just more. I feel that a new MMO based on WWII would be great.

I have to say that the way the OPs first post was presented could have been more constructive and less antagonistic.

I feel that DF devs have been foolish with their lack of progress over the past few years but seem to be getting some steam now. If the devs continue to keep the ball rolling then we may see this game in the sunshine, that being said any kind of slow down in news and vids and pics will simple bring the comunnity down farther.

The most important point that anyone made was why would anyone really care if the community put their hope and dreams on this game? The devs have commited no great injustice in dragging their feet because, as far as I know, no player has spent any money trying to play it.

The Euro servers as well as the US servers are hitting a medium level more nowa days so you probably will do well on the Euro servers.

The game is pretty simple to get into but yeah the only thing I craft is paint to change the color of my armor

The game is evolving so there are changes and improvments coming in patches all the time.

Also, don't pay much attention to those who post negative comments, it is the nature of the forum and they have Final Fantasy characters as sigs, and not even the good characters.

From the PlayNC website go to manage account, put in your user name and password, TR should be listed on the left, click on it and there should be an option to download client.

Better than my desk top memory and graphics wise so you should be able to play TR on at least normal graphics settings probably better. You should check around for info on TR and Vista tho.

I understand how you feel. I play a MMO like a man possesed until one day I log in and just don't want to play any more. Then I will go back from time to time and then usually cancel after about a week. The feeling is just not there.

I am playing TR right now but I think one day I will probably login and just not want to play. But that won't be for a while yet.

I don't know, I fondly remember EQ becasue it was my first MMO and it was all new and shiny, but if I really think about what I did in EQ it wasn't that great. Just like when I first played DND RPG or played Ultima II, they were also the first PNPRPG and CRPG I played. In the end there will never be that feeling of wonder and while some games may give players a short burst of nostalga that will not be the same so they will move on. I think we are in a period like that now where people jump from MMO to MMO trying to get that feeling of something new.

I am not looking for a replacement for EQ I am, like so many others, looking for something different.

For those that say that comparing MMOs and paper and pencil RPGS is like comparing apples and oranges I would like to point out that while that may be true now at one time it wasn't. Back in the day players expected to RPG in their MMORPGs, now the RPG has been removed so that we are left with MMO.

True MMOs today are very different from paper and pencil RPGs but for me and many others we would like to move towards putting RPG back into the genre.

I totally agree that paper and pencil RPGs can be much more immersive and entertaining then computer MMOs because a human GM can react better then an MMO. That being said MMOs are far more convinent then paper and pencil games. Right now I am with out a group to play RPGs with. When I was in a group it was often a struggle to get ready, drive to and then drive home on a Saturday evening. Also, I left my roleplaying group because I didn't agree with the direction the group was taking and some of the players personalities.

With MMOs I can login anytime without having to go anywhere, I can play for 30 minutes, then log out, eat dinner with my wife and then log back in and play some more.  If I dont like some one I can /ignore them.

In the end MMOs versus RPGs are a trade off, you can have a great game that is immersive and exciting or you can have the convenience of playing when you want.

It would be great if CRPGs and MMOs could do better at story telling and being immersive, I feel they will improve once the devs figure out that pushing the tech envelope can only go so far and they need to push the plot envelope and make the tech work with that.

Well, I guess I will play until I get tired of TR or it shuts down which ever comes first, and then I will find something else to play. I really haven't felt that "I cant live with out this game" since my EQ days a long time ago and that didn't last long.

Will I feel betrayed if NC closes TR? No because I picked up the game at Target for $13, I have taken the attitude of while a MMO may look cool, I don't wrap to much of my future happiness in them. So TR is fun but just a game.

Do I care that the game was hyped but didn't live up to it? No, I am way to busy, lazy, uninterested to read all the hype, so I knew TR was a MMO where you shot aliens and that is what I am doing so it worked out pretty good.

Sorry if you feel betrayed by NC or TR or RG, but I feel more sorry people wanting this game to fail, that is just sad.

In the last one the sword looks really cool but what are the sticks with the sunburst on them in the second one?
