Rift: Spoils of War Prelude Event Preview
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/04/11 10:53:33 AM
People say Rift copies other games, but think about this. Trion Worlds dev team is made of the same people that first invented a lot of those features in all those other games. Its like a music artist making a second band and getting crap for sounding like himself. Also, Trion Worlds is Independently Published! They don't have NCsoft, SOE, EA, or any other publisher hanging over every decision they make for their own game; this is a much more awesome thing then most people realize! Lastly, while Rift isn't new, its far higher quality then any other game has been coming out the door. The amount of patches, events, and even previews we see almost every day I believe is pretty amazing. I think people forget a lot of other games have been out for 5-10 years or more. I say, give Rift time and it will become more and more great. |

Champions Online: Free For All Launch Day
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/27/11 1:25:52 PM
I'm just saying that even if I'm not paying the monthly fee now.. I did pay I believe $40.00 at the games release, hell I even recruited a friend who bought the game. I just think it would be nice/cool if cryptic would honor the players who dished out their hard earned cash.. with SOMETHING. The only difference between my account and a brand new free silver one.. is that mine cost me 40$ to make.... |

Just checked, you have to actually hit activate, and then it pops up with the free days (before you have to give them your CC or anything). |

10 free days for returning players.
Round Table Pub (General) « Dark Age of Camelot 6/05/10 4:14:43 PM
If you have either a WAR or DAOC account thats been inactive for a few months or more you should have 10 free days. You have to log into your account on their website as if you were going to re-sub, and then it will notify you of the free days. I'm pretty sure you need a credit card to get the 10 days, but you can cancel as soon as you claim them (and always re-sub for real afterwards if you feel like returning for real). Anyways, I just figured I'd post this for those who don't know. I'm resubbing today myself! LONG LIVE DAOC! |

I joined Vanguard again today, and all is well. Sure the population isn't booming, but its still playable. Everything is running amazing on my old 7950gt (my newer card died), and I've yet to have a single problem. I've brought a couple friends back with me as well. So if you enjoy this game, and wish you were playing it, JOIN UP! I'm basicly always LFG on my main Galhard (33 warrior), or my alt Varsala (22 Ranger). I have alts around 10-15 as well, and am happy to meet new people on any character. If you can't find me online just send Galhard some mail in game. |

+2 more people I'd be happy to return, I miss VG more every day. I can bring my boyfriend back with my as well. |

EverQuest II: Battlegrounds to Debut in February
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/27/10 7:33:06 PM
Enough WoW talk. Battlegrounds came from Dark Age of Camelot, other games copied the idea. I think adding Battlegrounds to EQ2 is a great idea, if anything it will just add one more fun thing to do. This shouldn't change the core game in any way... its just like the arenas we already have, but hopefully they will be used more. |

No mention of Earth and Beyond?!? that game was awesome. |

Yes, but if I want to work on my rifle at level one.. and I end up using a melee weapon to grind off enough AP to spend some on rifle. How the hell does that make any sense. Thats like working on my car to get better at cooking. To me, true "skill based" gameplay involves actually USING the skills to level them. Thats the only thing that truely breaks you out of the grindy leveling fest seen in classic MMORPG's. So yes, as everyones said before, nice try fallen earth, but your a hybrid. |
|

Having not read all the previous posts in this thread, I'll give my opinion. Sand Box is can be defined in so many different ways, so asking a yes or no question is just going to start arguments. Fallen Earth is sandbox in the fact that you do spend points to customize your character. However, Fallen Earth does not get my "sand box" title; because Fallen Earth is still level based and very grindy. Give me a skill system like UO or old school SWG, where the exp I gain is per skill. If I fish I'll get good at fishing, if I stab I'll get good at stabbing, if I dance I'll get good at dancing. None of this grind through a level killing crap so I can spend points. |

General: The List: Top 5 MMOs That Need Remakes
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/07/09 12:52:00 PM
City of Heroes has a sequel its called Champions Online. Its the same developer and the game was designed to be the sequel to COH. This isn't up for debate, they remade COH and its called Champions Online, end of story. How sad is it that a writer made it to the front page of mmorpg, who didn't even know NCSoft was a PUBLISHER. They wern't even a good publisher, they canceled Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa... I don't trust NC Soft with any game, they want to suck it dry and then forget it ever existed. Richard Garriot the man behind Ultima Online and Tabula Rasa is suing them now after they canned his last game. As far as where I would like to see sequels. I agree Anarchy Online and Dark age of Camelot. While I wish I could say Warhammer was a sequel; it was a game built with the spirit of a sequel, but in the end failed to compare. Games not on the list I would love to see remade include Earth and Beyond, and Planetside. |

POLL: Will you reactivate for Ywain?
Round Table Pub (General) « Dark Age of Camelot 8/12/09 1:22:16 PM
EA may be a blackhole, but Bioware is still a gaming god. As for EA Mythic, at least EA games don't have tradeing card games, cash item shops, or a "station exchange". SOE has just as many or more faults than EA. My biggest problem with EA though, is their record of canceling games. While SOE keeps even their most dead games alive (planetside).
Anyways, daoc's biggest problem isn't EA, its the community. If we give daoc a high population, we have mythic and BIOWARE to back the game. |

Does your motherboard support AGP or PCIe Videocards? I'm going to assume its PCIe, and if so then I'll suggest this Evga 1gb 9500gt its 70$ off newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130395 With that card you could run every game currently out without much trouble at all. I have other suggestions as well, PM me and we can chat on a messenger sometime if you like.
Have you considered Vanguard? The games made HUGE leaps and bounds since launch, the population now is population is comparable to Everquest 1 in its glory days. You will need the upgraded graphics most likely, VG's graphics are still top of the line. Free Trial here: http://vanguard.station.sony.com/isleofdawn/
My main reasons for loving VG:
-The world is huge, yet still filled with content. -Brotherhoods help keep my girlfriend my level even when she can't play -Seamless world without instances or loading screens! (loading is only done between continents, and when teleporting across the world) -Great social/RP features including; In world housing/player cities, and an appearence tab. -VG is a MULTIPLAYER game. You dont have to group, but yes there are advantages, and the majority of content is focused on player groups. -Amazing graphics: View distance maxed out is simply breathtaking, as well as lighting/shader effects indoors. -Corpse runs and long travel times add risk and force use of caution. -First mount at level 10, and every 10 levels after that. 19 unique racial mounts. Flying mounts end game. -Ships! Sailing the seas in your customized ship is just so epic! Bring friends, they can hang out above or below deck. Or simply park your ship in the harbor and go on an adventure. -Lastly I love VG because the game is still filled with mystery. I've discovered items myself! and players still learn new things all the time. Unlike other modern games where you can look up every quest, item, location, and npc in the game. VG is a world still filled with things to discover. Heres a nice trailer showing off the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0p6TrEPSr50

I played in beta, I played at release, and I quit because the game was a mess back then. Well guess what! Vanguard is a work of art now! Yeah I know there are a bunch of "I love vanguard threads" now. However, I just wanted to make another so people really see that players are enjoying this game. My main reasons for loving VG: -The world is huge, yet still filled with content. -Brotherhoods help keep my girlfriend my level -Seamless world without instances or loading screens! I agree. I don't see where people keep getting these ideas that daoc needs new graphics. The game looks better then many more modern mmorpgs!

Everyone talks bad about newer mmorpgs (Vanguard, WAR, Conan, Darkfall) Everyone makes fun WoW Everyone goes on rambling about the good ol days when games like Dark Age of Camelot, Everquest, and even pre-cu/nge Star Wars Galaxies. Well guess what! the only reason these games are having a problem is YOU all stopped playing them for whatever reason. I'm still playing DAOC everyday, 2600+ online prime time on Devon cluster. Feels just like the good ol days. Resub and save your favorite games. |
