What surprises me is that he was surprised by the fact that players want content. So their purpose for releasing the Mustafar expansion was not to provide players with new content but to screw over pet handlers ie, revamping profession? I find much of what this guy writes, or says in interviews, very disingenuous. I have never known any players to have serious gripes about the guild terminal thing. I used it, sure it can be a pain but with travel as fast as it is now, whats the big deal? The huge ghost towns and inability to administer ones city because homes still counted as residents, combined with unused harvester, "hoping that they would come back..." was the final nail for me. Travelling trough Dat was like running an obstical course. Losing ones abiltiy to play the game the way they had started playing the game, and were enjoying just fine, only to have it changed yet again, does nothing to instill player confidence. Though by stating he would look into server consolidations to me is the closest thing to an admission that numbers truely are as low as most players, both present and past, have been stating for a long while now. Anyhow. Who knows where SWG will end up in the next six months. Me I am hoping they lose the license and it goes to the Bioware/Pandemic partnership. (NO nothing has ever been hinted that they would be taking the license, they just have not said what the theme of their MMORPG will be, but a player can dream) I would play a space MMORPG based on Knights of the Old Republic. |

NDA,'s, EULA's and the mess they made
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 2/08/07 2:05:07 PM
What's to "understand"? NDA: N = Non D = Disclosure A = Agreement. As was stated above me, don't tell anyone anything about the game while under a NDA, and you'll be fine. EULA: E = End U = User L = Licensing A= Agreement. If you can't take the time to read them that's your problem, not the owner of the title. Standardizing will only make users even lazier than they are already.

SOE's stench is all over this game

... yet it is also very different from WoW in other respects. As for the why did VG copy WoW in some aspects, why reinvent to wheel? If it works and people are used to doing something a certain way repeating them, like the interface for instance, helps people adjust and accept the new "thing" - in this case a piece of gaming software. Its actually a fairly common practice in systems design, some would say successful systems design. For instance most Windows office programs have a similiar look to them, like Word and Wordperfect for example. Wordperfect "could" totally redo their menu bar to be completely different from Word but why would they? If it adds any, and I mean any unnecessary confusion to the user, out it goes. (Kind of like how Blizzard desgined WoW itself ie, "get rid of anything not fun"). Anyhow... With a gazzillion of subscriptions, like it or not, WoW is the dominate standard for MMO's in certain respects, and possibly RPG's in general. |
