How many players has Warhammer lost since launch ?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 1/29/09 3:27:51 PM
I recently bought this on Steam. Loaded it up and was killing other players my first night. That pretty much works for me. With all the classes to choose from, things to see in the world and I can pop into a RvR scenario from where ever I am I pretty well satisfied with this one. |

AOC: Indictment against the game reviewing industry?

AOC: Indictment against the game reviewing industry?
General Discussion « Age of Conan 9/03/08 8:10:48 PM
I think the reviewers only saw what most of us saw and raved about in the first few days of playing. I think Tortage was well done and provided the hook. Unfortunately that attention to detail just didn't carry through and beyond.. I think it would have been hard for a reviewer to play up to say level 30-40 by which time they would have thoroughly seen through the vail and cried foul. Certainly something to think about in the futrue. Just goes to show that it pays to wait a few weeks before buying and playing a new release MMO. |

Fallen Earth MMO Alpha testing....Vent your frustrations
Fallen Earth « Fallen Earth 8/27/08 4:14:19 PM
When testing a system it is better to get people who know nothing about the system you are trying to test, than those who are familiar with it. It just works better. For the record I have been following the game for a while and I thought about being an Alpha tester. In the end I am just glad this game is at the stage where its getting tested. Life's too short to get all butt hurt and whine about not being used as a lab rat. Also if I were developing the game, or this system, the last people I would want on my Alpha are die hard fans who regardless of NDA's will most certainly leak the details, bitch and moan long before the horse is out of the gate, and pretty much bung up my release. In short get over it. If you are already bitching about how Icaras "let you down" this early in the game, before you even try playing it, then you only prove the point that they made the RIGHT decision to not pull testers from their die hard fan base and instead go with the general file planet, or whatever the heck it is population. |

Give the mobs ranged weapons and the ability to use them. Much easier to fix than 1) rebuilding the terrain for the whole game and 2) it sure as heck beats pissing off your player base trying to keep people from doing something they might actually think is a feature. Honestly I was surprised the first time I jumped up on a hill over looking a mob with my bow and couldn't inflict any damage on them. To me it seemed like the right thing to do. The game has climbable areas, ranged weapon classes and high ground then why can't I inflict damage on them? I can get up here. If so then they should be able to get up here as well. If the AI can't handle the pathing to where I am then give them ranged weapons and the ability to use them. Seems like an easy fix to me.

I recall watching a Funcom intro video showing a Ranger doing something to that effect. |

The Original Design of the Combat Upgrade

I believe that doing so would cause such a ripple in the force that Darth Lucas and his apprentice Darth Smedley would see this thread to vanish faster than SWG's player base after the NGE. |

/agree Really happy how that situation was dealt with. It wasnt just a one off post, but multiple posts that didnt get too common. Everything was clear cut and not over verbalised. Just straight to the point with some compassion. If only Funcom would learn. The only mod ive had any respect for officially with AOC was Famine, on a good day. The volunteer mods really left a bad taste in my mouth over there. I think they are partly to blame for the community demise. Funcom take note here, its not a bash or you suck post. Its just a take note and act fast to save your flaming game. It all starts with the people.... you can only tell paying customers to 'get stuffed, if you dont like it and leave mentalitly' for so long until the magic 700k + figure looks very worn and old. I truely deep down, even though i have quit AOC. Would like to see a number of very successful MMORPG's out there. Please dont leave it to just one company, time for many other MMORPG companies to really pull their finger out. Competition is good! Drop the marketing hype and get back to basics.
You know I too have canceled AoC and the sad thing about it is I am not really that bitter over the whole thing. As someone who has played MMO's on and off for several years now my expectations have really gone down hill with regards to quality and how game play matches advertised function and features. I agree with getting back to basics, it would be nice to see some integrity in the market again (if its even been there to begin with :) ). Is it just me or have things been on a downward decline for a few years now/?

I still miss this game. It had its problems - for me the three were broken quests, rubber banding and combat medics tossing grenades beyond 65 meters (actually capping all ranged weapons at 65 always bugged me). But I always had something to do. Players actively sought out other players but you didn't actually have to interactive directly with one and other. Needed to buy something head to a vendor or the bazzar. You get something and the seller makes something. There was something for everyone. The player economy was great - abet not perfect but so far the best I have encountered (for my tastes anyways that goes for three MMO's I have tried since Eve, WOW and AoC). Rare items that made top of the line gear got top of the line prices. But I never ever was at a loss for what to do in a day. Shoot fireworks off in the town square, get your toon remodeled by an image desinger, go fishing on Dath and then sell the fish as a Fish Monger on Tat, go on a raid to Fort Tuskan or some other planet and drag incapped folks out of the fire. Sell stuff, buy stuff and sell more for a profit. Heck I even liked running around on Lok before they had vehicles surveying. Just running around seeing the sites and sometimes getting killed by mods. It was really a "what you made it" kind of game. But for me it was never boring. |

Originally posted by Cropper I will try that. I found that jumping off small ledge seems to fix it. Another one is being stuck continually walking backwards though I has not happened for several days so I'm thinking its since been fixed. I am going to try dancing and check it out. One thing that I think is lacking in this game are more social features, not related to chopping off heads and such. As strange as it may sound I love to fish in games, also a duelling feature would be nice (unless its in there and I haven't found it yet).

I'd been happier if they fixed the bug that causes me to spin out of control while in combat. |

I just killed a bunch of drunk bullies in Tortage for some good old fashioned spawn slaying. Did it in the night/single player instance of the game. Then head to the merchant in the harbour and head back to kill some more. |

I find it funny that their US forums are down during this time but their EU ones appear to be working. Quelling discontent over this delay perhaps? |
