Originally posted by lokideshadow Maximum Level is currently 40. You create your initial nemesis at level 30, so you have a feel for the game system and likes/dislikes. It appears as if additional can be gained once you've reached level 40 and are into the Omega system. It sounds like Nemesis creation is via a character creation style process. You can choose attitude, costume, powerset(balanced sets, not one particular power). Source: Unofficial FAQ |

Here is a list of questions I would like the answers to, and I think many others as they first begin to look into the game will also be interested in. I have not yet searched for my answers through the several different websites and developer chats. Please help share the knowledge and post answers if you know them here. I'll post what I find as I go.

Feel free to add your own questions/provide answers. Please provide references with answers.

Two words for you. Dragon Empires. It was a Codemasters game canceled in beta due to server/network issues when hitting X number of players online. Oh, what could have been had it been completed? It had a huge following through forums and roleplaying in the forums was beyond anything I've seen pre-release as clans formed. It definately had a hype like I havn't seen before or since with the fanbase, including myself. GreenDragon, Order of the Bone Dragon

Basically there is no monthly fee at the moment because the company is in insolvency, more here. Which is due to a parent company issue.. You do however still have to buy the game. There is a 10 Day trial, if you can get a ClickToPay account, which currently is not issuing accounts to USA customers. The PayPal option has not been functional since October, in part due to the insolvency issues. and the third option PayByCash is not a trial account method, but a purchase of the game. PayByCash uses several methods including the Ultimate GameTime Card sold at a lot of stores. The english speaking server Terra routinely has 10-16% population every night and has a fair population of other languages spoken. The UI and sounds can actually be extensively modded, if you care to take the time. It is a bit basic and designed around a more immersive experience, generally you see a minimalist screen unless you press a button for standard UI. There is a fansite called Tech Haven with loads of information and a wiki. The graphics are a bit dated for character models, but the world looks a bit more 'real' than some other games such as planetside. It is not a resource hog but occasionally will crash, generally when syncing(zoning). Targeting is based on a reticule, not a simple click to target. Neocron is a skill based game and your rank is based on whichever skill area you have the most levels in. Skill areas level as you use them or through missions, but there are several individual skills inside of each area. Character customization is limited in appearance possibilities, but it exceeds most games on actual skill customization. Learning what each skill affects is best determined by reviewing the information on the official website or fan sites. There are several ways to level and it doesn't take horrible amounts of time to get somewhere. On Terra you are limited to four characters. This game encourages PvP but it is not required, and changing your PvP status is as simple as removing an implant. There is plenty of PvE content to level on, but joining a clan requires PvP.Outpost battles are infrequent at the moment, due to population. The tutorial helps some, though I've found the universal Help chat to be far more informative as generally other players will help you. Help, OOC, and Alliance chat channels are the most used on the servers. By default OOC is turned off, so you may miss responses if you leave it that way. There are some exploits/hacks which some people use to grief others, it is unfortunate but it does happen. But since the monthly fee is currently non-existent can't complain much. The in game navigation system (NavRay) is usually alright for pointing you where to go though occasionally it leads you into a wall or tries to send you all the way across the world. Best bet when this happens is to consult chat or an online website for a few details. As far as intuitiveness goes I think the game is a bit behind general standards but the info provided on most items will generally answer your questions and websites/chat can answer the rest. That's all the basics that I can think of at the moment. Nothing significant but it is an update on the game. - Loki

It appears, based on the available information searching online, that the game's message "coming in July 2008" is referring to the closed beta(or the website in general)... which is supposed to start towards the end of july. Also the only mention of it on english language press has been the announced release and the dev journal.
Does anyone know enough korean to be able to comment on if it was previously released based on the korean website? If so please clue us in. |

So the just announced Atlantica Online has a few screenshots available, a gameplay trailer, and some concept art. (English)http://www.playatlantica.com/ (Korean)http://atlantica.ndoors.com/center/ This is a Korean developed MMO that appears at a glance to be a significant change in the status quo. I think the turned based play and graphics will make this game stand out from the crowd of the average games. The korean website appears to be much more populated with information which does not show up on the english site, but that may be due to my lack of understanding the language. There is a beta sign-up available on the website though.
I'm just hoping this game adds enough variety and plot to keep the game from hitting the boredom factor of intensely repetitive play.
What do you think?? |
