Very true. If at all possible, get up the money to spring for a 8800gt. If not though, as I see you're budget minded, pick up a 8600gts 512mb at newegg.com for around $150.

Dude, definately go for the 8600. 8500's are crap budget cards, for people who don't play highly graphic games. 8600's are also budget cards, but not consumer budget, gamer budget. They are slightly more expensive, but way more powerful than the 8500. Put it this way, my 7600gt is more powerful than the 8500, the only thing is is that the 8500 supports DX10, lol but good luck running games in DX10 on an 8500, slide show time baby. So definately go for an 8600 or higher, like I said a little bit more expensive, but if you buy an 8500 you pretty much wasted your money anyway.

DO NOT BUY AN 8500!!

This game is definately group-centric at the core. But with recent patches, it has become a little easier to solo, then it intially was.

Okay. You misread my post...you idiot.

Nah, I like my "childish rant" better. Either way, you started this whole thing by assuming I wasn't familar with the old pvp days of UO. People that assume are idiots. Period.

I think people that throw the term "troll" around are also idiots.

Troll - Someone how intentionally posts controversial messages in an on-line community.

I'm no troll. But have been guilty of feeding trolls like you. Kinda like I am now.

Man, I hate idiots.

Man, I hate people who resort to derogatory comments, and name calling.

Is it quite necessary?

By the way Irish, I agree with your viewpoint on the subject, but not your behaviour.

Man its never too late to enjoy this (to this day, 10 years later!) unique mmo classic. It is different then what it used to be, but there is a crapload of more stuff to do and places to explore than there was. When I say different, so no one takes my words out of context, I mean different, not better or worse. The new Kingdom Reborn client is great now, with the option to turn on/off legacy modes and artwork, and most bugs and other issues have been addressed. And you can take it from me, cause I will tell you KR was a steaming pile of crap, when it was released a few months ago. With the Stygian Abyss expansion looming on the horizon, things are about to get interesting again. Hope to see you in game. Oh, by the way, if you have a hankerin' for pvp, i suggest you play in felucca, as that is the ffa pvp realm. Play on siege perilous shard also if you dig more of a challenge, with greater rewards.

There's only two games I know of that are even remotely similar to uo. Eve Online has a similar skill based system, and similar pvp and economic system to uo. But of course eve is a sci-fi mmo, so that is the main difference. Darkfall, which is still in development, is supposed to be almost exactly like uo, but in full 3d. Try out eve online's 14 day trial, and see if you like it. Also keep your eyes open for a release date for Darkfall.

A lot of people have come back, and some new peeps in recent weeks. The population is on the rise, it isn't the wasteland it was 2 months ago.

Indeed i am. I have one problem though. Why doesn't xfire recognize hellgate when im playing it? You know it doesnt tally my hours in game. Is it because I play the Vista x64 version?

I am, it has evolved, and it shall continue. This is not the game that was released earlier this year. It is now finally what it should have been, what we were promised it would be. Check out its current state, and I can almost guarantee that the hate will subside.

I agree, go with a monk, and see if you like it. Also warriors and Deathknights.

Dude, nice system, lol.

I confirm the op's thoughts. This game is finally what it should have been at launch.

Go with Vanguard, in my opinion. I used to play EQ and EQ2 but I feel this is more like the original eq than eq2 was. They just got update 3, and it fixed most of the issues with the game that people had, and added more high end content and raids.

Today's patch fixed the issues I've been having with this game. I am now free to just enjoy it now.
