Only stupidity I see is on the OPs part.

Worthless thread, and I don't even need to examine the OP to figure that out.

If it comes out for Xbox360 and it's a good game, I would definitely give it a try on console.  That way the game would more likely have some nice visuals with decent performance.

SOE: All future MMOGs console-bound
By Tom Magrino, GameSpot Posted Oct 6, 2008 10:27 am PT President of Sony's online arm affirms that company is done with PC exclusivity; hints at new EverQuest.

It didn't require a great mind to realize that Sony Online Entertainment would be taking a stronger look at the console space after being subsumed by its Sony Computer Entertainment contemporary. After all, to this point, Sony's massively multiplayer online arm has by and large been a purveyor of games for Microsoft's Windows platform, having handled only a handful of downloadable games for the PlayStation 3.

However, SOE's presence on the PS3 is in for a radical change. Speaking to MTV's Multiplayer gaming blog, SOE president John Smedley answered in the affirmative as to whether all of the game maker's future MMOGs would appear on consoles. According to Smedley, SOE anticipates that the returns will outweigh the costs of bringing MMOGs to consoles, thanks to a previous emphasis on developing a cross-platform engine capable of running on PCs and consoles.

"For us, the opportunity that we see on the PS3, and potentially the PSP, is something that we can't pass up on," said Smedley. "I would say that we would be one of the early adopters on [bringing MMOs to consoles], and we plan on becoming one of the dominant players in the MMO space on consoles. We see that marketing coming; we think it's there now, so we want to get a good market share there."

Aside from expansions for its currently running MMOGs such as EverQuest, EverQuest 2, Star Wars Galaxies, and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, the online-game maker has a number of upcoming, announced projects in the pipe. These include DC Universe Online, The Agency, and Free Realms, all of which have been announced for both the PC and PS3. SOE has also announced a collaboration with Virgin Comics on a MMOG adaptation of Ramayan 3392 A.D.

As part of MTV's interview, Smedley also hinted that the developer is working on a new installment in its flagship EverQuest franchise. "It's pretty safe to say that EverQuest has not seen its last game," teased Smedley. "So we've got our own cards to play there, and I think we will play them at the right time. But the quality level will be something that people will be very happy with."

I don't want either for my kid.

This is why I, as a responsible and non-braindamaged parent, I pay attention to what games are bought.

I pay attention to the rating on the game.

I do my job as a parent instead of hoping someone else will.

That's MY opinion.

It is not a stupid quesiton.

When it comes to banning video games outright, these are the two subjects that come out, and most games if not all are perfectly acceptable with viloence, even gross dismemberment, but as soon as there is some hint at sex, parents get outraged enough to ban it.

Regardless of the logical response of, my kids can do what i let tehm, there are still assholes who think "My moral belief should be law!" I personally dont have a problem with either, as long as you take the time to talk to your kids as if these things are normal and not some sort of taboo nobody does. And also take the time to explain violence is only acceptable in video games and on tv but not in real life.

I know people like to believe that the world is immaculate and nobody has sex but it just isnt true. I believe in teh rating system for games, but what i dont agree with, is the fact that people still try to ban certain games out right, even when they have that 18+ mature rating.

Thats why it begs teh question, which would you rather, so it is eitehr or, there is no none of the above for a reason.

And my response made it clear there's no reason to ban games.

There is, however, reason to ban people from being parents.

And the question IS stupid.

It's not stupid because you asked it in the context of your post.

It's stupid for even having to be asked in a supposedly civilized and grown up society.

The 10k ping spikes still exist, theyve been around since the game launched and it never mattered what ISP you used, it was always server side... FUNCOM even said they know its them and they are working on it, once up a time in july, before I uninstalled the game sometime.  Go check the official forums, its there, its not this guys ISP or that guys, its FUNCOM.

When was the last time you experienced one or played the game?  Just curious. Oh did you say July? I bet 90% of people who experienced lag spikes don't anymore and IF they do they are minimal. Did you miss all the lag spike issues gone posts? Thats 2 months + you haven't played and still pretend the game is as it was then, when its clearly not.

Actually a lot has to do with the ISP you use and how its routed ADSL / DSL in relation to your location and the server location.

When it comes to funcom, the only ISP that matters is theirs.

Savvis.net is shit and goes out/fucks up constantly. Craig and every other dev/mod on the AO forums always came off with the "It's your ISP", until the customers started posting results from packet loss data and ping traces.

Hey, what's going on with AO right now? Let's take a look:

Hello Everyone,

We are experiencing some network issues with our hosting company. Currently we have teams working on resolving this as quickly as possible. Players may experience excessive lag and intermittent disconnections during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

 -------------------------------------

This is a common occurance, Avery. If you ever played AO, you'd know that and quit with the "It's your ISP" crap.

There are threads going back years filled with this shit, and customers BEGGING Funcom to ditch Savvis.net, to no avail. They claimed they got too good of a deal with Savvis. Then we find out, of course, that Funcom was also selling cellular phone service.

And who provides the ISP for AoC? Savvis.net.

Start adding the truth of Funcom into your attempts to defend them, Avery. Or just give up altogether, because others will be happy to point it out.

Dear people,

Basically I just needed extra storage space.

Then I decided I was bored and needed some nookie, so I made Eve.

Bitch wasn't my type, though. So I made Adam so I'd have someone to pawn the ho off to.

The rest is hstory.

By the way, I'm keeping a running tab of how much of my storage space each of you mofos is using, and I WILL collect on yo' asses.

Signed, God

Since when do we take designer's opinions as facts? if we did, DnL, Mourning, etc would be awesome games!

So you recommend us to listen to who?

You?

nope...but i learned from many devs is, never beleive what the devs tells you. And no don't listen to me, since everyone's mileage will vary, what i lik e, the next person won't like. But rule of thumb, never believe a dev

Forget rule of thumb, this should be gospel in every gamers Bible.

Yep, everyone can ROLEPLAY a ganker/griefer, there will be lots and lots of ganker/griefer ACTION and the ganker/griefer will employ STRATEGY to make you as miserable as possible until you quit.

Then DarkFall will join Shadowbane in obscurity.

Can't wait!!!!!

Now you can go back to farming primals and getting ganked by S4 rogues.

Was that a not-so-clever "go back to WoW" comeback?

Pathetic that you couldn't come up with anything better than a 4 years old stale as dried shit insult.

But thanks for playing, and come again!!

There is no question about it that a PC always has the ability to be better, by far than a console. It would take a nut case to argue otherwise. However the consoles are not as weak as everyone makes them out to be.

I would like to see Console only MMO's for 2 reason. Firstly Everybody would be on the same playing feild preformance wise. Secondly its many times harder to have a console hacked and boted. I have only seen ps3 game botted in once and it was fixed shortly after. (CoD4 aim bot). As long as an MMO is multiplatform, I would play mainly on PC because my gaming PC is built for MMO's.

One good example of a multi-console mmo that is routinely hacked is Phantasy Star Universe. One of the reasons most of its players are gone.

Palin is attacked for her religion not BECAUSE of her religion but how SHE uses her religion. She's a fanatic. The only difference between her and Al Queda is she wouldn't have the balls to blow herself up to take you with her.

Ive come to the conclusion that the lag spikes are a ISP issue and not a server issue. How? At home I get the lag spikes, I went to a friends and played and magicly there were none whatsoever. Also look at people posting about them, You'll see a lot of people saying they dont have them. If its a problem with Funcom's servers, EVERYONE will have the issue.

If it was a problem with my ISP, EVERY MMO I play would have that problem.

Where are the US servers located? Never done any research on this myself, however I agree it's probably not on your end.

Funcom uses the same ISP for AoC as they do for AO. Savvis.net

And Savvis is constantly being shown at fault for the massive lag that AO gets. Customers of AO have yelled at Funcom for YEARS to change ISPs, but Funcom refuses. Now that we know Funcom also had a telephone service, we know why. So more than likely, that is where a majority of AoCs lag ( real lag, not graphic lag ) comes from.

And over the last week alone, I have encountered dozens of those lagspikes in AO.

Man what is it with ignorant people these days? PS3/360 Consoles CAN use keyboard and mouse. Its just that the games developed for them do not have the software built in to be compatable with keyboard and mouse.  So if an MMO goes to console it can use keybord and mouse if the developers want it to. They just need to add the software to their game and presto you can use mouse and keyboard.

And a keyboard and mouse will make your years old console just as powerful as a fully upgraded PC rig? Hell, a midrange PC blows Xbox360 out of the water, a slightly better PC stomps the PS3.

I agree, where do ignorant people like this come from?

I never said one word about the preformance of a ps3/360 vs a PC in my quoted post did I? No I didnt. I am just pointing out that the PC gamer fans need to stop using the controller vs keybored and mouse argument since PS3/360 can use them.

Learn to read pal

Meh, we were using more than the keyboard/mouse comparison before your post. You are correct, I didn't notice you were strictly refering to the keyboard/mouse comparison. My apologies.

The world is going to Hell in a handbasket.

I, however, plan to be holding the handles on the way down.
