lol people still have the nerve to say warhammer is copying warcraft? Oh... my.... god.

Most of you WoW noobs dont even know how old warhammer is, green orcs? Warhammer had them looooooong before Blizzard was even formed.... Elves similar? Again, Warhammer had them before Blizzard was formed....

And now Blizzard copies Warhammers idea of miniature figurines for a table top game... oh my god... I would'nt be surprised if the rules are the same either...

WoW fanbois these days... its hiliarious.

WoW had an MMO looooooooooong b4 Warhammer =D

FYI green orks and elves were around looooooooong b4 Warhammer.

See how pointless and childish this stuff is.. lets all grow up a little.

Cupertino honestly you're the biggest WoW fanboi i've ever seen, and there-fore you have no say in this...

WoW had an MMO? That makes no sense, WoW IS an MMO. What you mean is Blizzard had an MMO long before Warhammer, well... Warhammer had a lore LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG before Blizzards warcraft.

Warhammer also have miniature figurines for a table top game LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG before Blizzard even though of making Warcraft.

You fail, try again.

<Mod Edit>

Bottom line WAR is old and thats it, it did not make orcs (not even green orcs as i have proven), it did not make the TT game and it cannot claim the right to a fantasy based lore. Nothing about warhammer was original when it started and nothing is orginal now... all ideas were borrowed from european myths and fantasy storys.

Wrong, GamesWorkshop were the first to have big brutish green Orc's. LoTR Orc's were mutlilated and twisted Elves and D&D Orc's were basically Pig men. WarCraft Orc's are blatantly copied from Warhammer. please see below where green orcs came from

And no WoW did not have an MMO, Vivendi/Blizzard hand an MMO called WoW which was released before WAR but only maybe by what 4 years. GamesWorkshop had the Warhammer IP, art, Orc's ect ect atleast 15 years before Blizzard was formed. Wathammer cannot claim ownership of an artstyle, they did not invent orcs and the IP has been developed slowly over time, just becuase it older does not in anyway make it better.

Also a Warhammer MMO was in the making long before WoW, however it was too ambitious and the developers Climax ran out of funds, it was then that Mythic picked up the license and redesigned the game. As I explained, and mythic balently redesigned the game around WoW.. which is obvious.

You want to know where GW got their orc  from;

The incredible hulk - 1963

But the art design was WAR's. Also pretty sure this mmo has been in devolpment b4 wow became so huge.

But WoW was out b4 development on WAR started.

Also Warhammer has so many different art styles it matters not what style WoW was made in WAR fans would say WoW ripped off Warhammer... for the sole reason of dwarfs, elves and orks neither of which warhammer created and all of which are part of the fantasy genre.

To believe that WAR is not heavly influence by WoW is just putting a blind fold on and sticking your fingures in your ears.

WRONG, war was in development way befor wow released.

WRONG WAR (mythic) started development in mid 2005, WoW launched at the end of 2004 (and was avaliable to play with no NDA for almost a year in beta before that.. so you can be sure mythic soaked up all their ideas during that time).

Their was a Warhammer MMO being developed by climax during WoW's development but was dropped 6 months after WoW and was never finish and never even got into beta.

WoW has loads of made up holidays, this week we have "the festival of light" =D

But as in game holiday events go.. this VG event is rather weak.. no holiday related quests? whats with that.

I want to address the McDonald's argument for no reason in particular.

McDonald's is popular in part because it is super cheap.  WoW is not super cheap.  In fact, there are few (if any) MMOGs that charge a higher monthly fee than WoW.

Therefore, people must be playing it because they feel they are getting a good value for their money, compared to all the other games that cost the same or even less.

The McDonald's of the MMO world would be something like Dungeon Runners.  In fact, playing Dungeon Runners makes me feel very similar to the way I feel after eating at McDonald's.  Like I've enjoyed myself and satisfied some urge, but it probably wasn't very good for me.

(P.S.  In this analogy, free-to-play games are like food you've scraped out of a Dumpster -- unpleasant, unsatisfying, and you might be leaving yourself open to a nasty infection.)

Further more to the Macdonalds argument.

A WoWburger costs the same as an EQBurguer, an EvEBurguer etc

Macdonalds has never won awards for its food nore will it score high on any food review.. however WoW had won awards for the last 3 years and is the highest rated MMO in history.

The only similarty between WoW and MacD is popularity but for very different reasons.

WoW is no where near the point where it need to remake itself to keep people interested (EvE EQ2 AO), change the gfx style and it losses the essense of WoW, WoW is about humor slap on a EQ2 skin and its all lost.  Look at the RTS games.. WoW looks like warcraft, and it has to be that way.

Saying that I would like just 1 upgrade.. some kind of foliage update cus when I am flying around the trees look god awful in nagrand.

We are getting improvements in WoTLK, just as we did in TBC just dont expect it over night.

In 5 years time its the "realistic" games that will look primative and the stylised games like WoW that will still look good.

/yawn

seen it all b4. bring on CoS atleast thats trying somthing new and not just playing it safe by copying WoW.

Burning Crusade was the worst expansion pack I've ever seen. Almost 4 years and all blizzard did was BC, lol

it was 2 years then TBC and lots of content added between and after TBC. But look at the numbers WoW has not needed to rush out buggy and poorly made expansions as fast as EQ2 and other becuase WoW keeps its players... more does not mean better.

Tbh 3 years is more than you'll get from any game out there so it's not like it's been a bad mmorpg to play lol.

Hmm, no.

Someone didn't play any of the first gen MMo's.

Times change, people jump ship much more often these days.

There was less choice back then, they only knew of EQ.. they didn't know any better.

WAR is the obvious choice (ofc its not out yet) as it looks and feels like WoW, which is mythics idea from the start, making a WoW player feel at home in WAR right from the start.

Took 3 years to realise you hated the game, if i stick a fork in your eye how long do you think it will be before you decide you dont like that?

WoW had never been about the gfx, other games put gfx first and look where they are today, in the bargin bucket struggling to stay afloat.

WAR should be a sucessful game becuase it had basic gfx (ie, no flashy DX10 crap etc) which will appeal to far more people, untill they realise its WoW with a new skin and come back to Wow ofc =D

For me Tribes 2 was the best version of tribes. knocking ppl out of the air with your spin fusor... shouting for help as you run/jetpack from the enemy with their flag only to spot a team mate who jumps of his bike for you to jump onto and zoooom! eat my dust.

A tribes MMO, pure PvP, jetpacks, vechicals would be the ultimate PvP MMO.

Some say Planetside was "tribes online" but I could never get into it.

To answer the OP,most definatly blizzard is going to make the current tier gear crap.If blizzard wasnt lazzy they could have done the following with TBC and future expansions:

For every tier gear they should a quest that would bring it in line with the curent higher counterpart added by the expansion, like tier 3 would be converted into tier 5 or 6 via a quest, may the quest pretty easy but still require abit of hard work. And your problems are solved... but blizzard wants to force players into buying their expansion packs!

So your saying that any 1 with T3 gear who comes into TBC does not need to do any new raiding becuase they get the max teir after a little quest.... did you realy think this through?  So there I have done the quest and i now have full Teir 6... ok now what.. no point raiding as i have the best gear.. guess I'll quit.

nah, as we are all playing make believe ill be the winner cus i have "shield of the might fallen hero" and I desend from the might ewoko clan.

ROFL.. this sort of crap makes me laugh... its game.. A GAME!

WoW is getting its world PvP back as soon WotLK hits with it non-instanced PvP zone (much like Blizzard originaly planned for AV).

Also there is always world PvP, just stand by a meeting stone and PvP away, we also got Halaa and spirit towers which are always switching sides on Xavius.

World PvP is not forced in Wow but nothing stops you making it happen.
