I had no idea they were finally normalizing weapon speed. This is great news, as the weapon imbalance was one of my biggest griefs with this game. Thanks for posting that link Mrbloodworth.

 Grind

I played the game for 5 months when it first came out, then returned about a 6 months later and liked the game even less. I doubt I will return again, but who knows.

The problem with exclusive content for returning players is that it would make the loyal fans of a game upset. If there was some cool new axe that only returning players could get and I've been a loyal (paying) subscriber since launch, I'd be pissed with the developers. Hell I might unsubscribe for 3 months,  just so I can come back to collect my Axe of Reestablishment.

As a player who has jumped from one MMO to the other (I've got MMO ADD), I think a special quest chain, item, title, ect. for returning to a game might be nice, but it certainly wouldn't keep me there. Before I return to a game I look at the forums; are people still complaining about the same things when I left the game x months ago. What I'm saying is that once you've completed that special quest chain or collected that magic axe, you're left with the same game from 3 months ago.

I say less time giving treats to returning players and more time fixing/adding/improving content.

You make some sound points in your comparison. Particularly with regard to when the PvP becomes fun in the games, War I new from the start this game had great PvP while in Aion " I am just grinding in hopes that a fun game will materialize somewhere down the line." --This captured my opinion about Aion 100%.

Aion is a game that dangled a carrot in front of me and each time I got the carrot I was unsatisfied and had too look farther down the line for the next carrot. People say it's about the journey and not the destination.....well Aion's journey is a grindfest. People that support Aion's system just tell me to level up and then start PvPing. I won't spend 1000+ hours to find that out. It's not worth the investment when I can play something that is fun all the way through.

The only point I disagree with had to do with performance. Aion has run very well for me; though, sieges are a nightmare. They(sieges) were just as bad in War but the characters/animations didn't look as good to me.

The real disagreement I can see between an Aion player and a War player is in the definition of "good PvP," but that's just my humble opinion.

A week review in my opinion, but it seems many reviewing sites have been posting inacurate reviews of this game. The quest content takes a sharp turn down while the amount of exp to level takes a sharp turn up post level 30 . Most of the reviews I have read seem to be written up at or before they reach this benchmark which leads to some very missinforming reviews. A game that focuses so much on grinding is something that needs to be noted and this review completely misses that fact.

Get to 50 next time and then write your review.

When did men stop liking hot chicks? Ive seen many posts about how the female toons in Aion are too sexy. Lets all petition game devs everywhere to make fat, ugly female toons that wear burkas, then these sensitive men will not be so offended.

I know right, I guess people will just complain one way or the other, and there is nothing to be done about it.

Two of my favorite games were destroyed because devs decided to go their own merry way. Despite tons of hollering, crying, whining, and bitching from their subsribers. Those two are EQ and DAoC.

EQ used to be a nice little grouping game. Then some idiot dev had a brainfart to totally change the game to a raid centric nightmare. Locking out players from content, creating a raider vs. grouper division, and worst of all balancing the group game based on raid gear instead of group gear.

DAoC. Oh, DAoC, once the best game ever to grace the earth. Full of grouping, little to no raids. Not gear dependent. Vibrant economy. Awesome RvR. It had it all. Then, out of  nowhere we are hit by this thing called Trials of Atlantis. I mean, wtf was that? This thing was a nightmare. Those of us who left EQ, because of the raids were once again being forced to raid. Not only that, but every encounter seemed to be broken. It took DAoC years, and tens of thousands of subscribers before they finally figured out "the customer is always right".

So, you can say all you want that "The Customer" is not always right(of course, we aren't talking individuals here), but history of MMOs that have gone from riches to rags proves otherwise.

QFT

I still enjoy leveling, in fact, even more so than back then. I guess I get bored with content pretty quickly spending hours and hours in one small area tires me out very quickly, but to each his own.

hmmm not working for me. After I install the second client the hogg files are not in the live folder any more.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

I recomend Fallen Earth

Another reason why I'm looking forward to this game.

It's difficult to say at the moment. While the LotD zone is fun to play, one of the issues is that when one side has control they might not come out to RvR at all, which means the opposing side has nothing to do for several hours. However, as people get tired of the zone and want to RvR again, I think the RvR will increase.

How does Aion handle CC, is there a lot?

-

No, the game just isn't ready for a relaunch anytime soon. Maybe 6-12 months from now I might be interested in coming back.

Doubtful when this is on the main site.

I have become very tired of the tank/heal/dps roles. Finding alternatives takes a little imagination which I find lacking in this industry. Too many clones.
