this will sound newbish but what is a DDOS and do they have a face i can punch for giving me 13 seconds lag in my game?

for my money rift is the best of the theme park oriented mmos out there.
swtor would not even be second.
to me the fun of the class based "talent tree" mmos is theorycrafting and rift is a theorycrafters' paradise. also rift has a very customizable housing system and the impromptu grouping of rifts is fun. |

in DF you can not take it personal when someone rollls you and takes your stuff.
it is not one of those games where your stuff represents a month of hard work. it represents a lil bit of time crafting that you even got EXP for as you did it.
even eve (and as many here know I LOVE EVE) where everything might be killed at any time has more "permanent" gear than DF.
now dont get me wrong i think that there SHOULD be a crime/ punish systemm and that there should be more valuable gear but at the present that's not how DF works.
once you realize this you can stop taking it personally and enjoy the game.
it worked for me at least.

i might give it a shot again too. i think i have like 20 bucks worth of the NCsoft coins anyhows.
since it's not a full time job anymore :) |

one of the tricks to learn in a game like df is that its nothing personal if you get killed, in other games it is but in df its not.
you dont lose or gain anything permanent by dying. save the anger for when your clan loses its city etc.
this is actually why i'd like there to be a better alignment / crime / punishment system in df btw. it would in a way enable more meaningful items to be put into game for crafters which would in turn make pvp more of a risk, but with more reward. |

i'll still try archeAge but i hate when companies break the immersion like that.
the least they coulda done was make them external combustion style steampunk cars.
i think it's a cultural thing; a lot of asian games (atlantica...) have this kind of anachronism and it always bugs me... |

i think DFUW is a lil unfinished, but it's certainly not a bad game. i havent crashed since about may 9th and the game is very immersive to me. I like the crafting along with PVP idea, i just wish the devs will add more depth.
the city sieges are fun and it's a feeling of acomplishment when your clan grabs a hamlet or a city. it will be better when cities "mean" more but that's coming. We shall see.
i certainly dont regret paying for it; i've gotten way more than 40 bucks worth of play so far and i'm pretty sure (not 100% maybe 80%) that i'll resub once my free month wears off. |

Is Dragon's Prophet worth buying the Beta access?
General Discussion « Dragon's Prophet 5/15/13 8:51:14 PM
If you are already playing an soe game there is not really any risk because they give u. Station cash equally valued to your beta package. Ex; u get the 40 dollar package they give u 40 in station cash.
If you aren't playing an soe game its a lot more of a risk obv Itch |

Looks like they're adding a bit of both breadth and depth.
Great news.... IF they deliver! Let's hope. Itch |

[mod edit] now, i'm not saying CU has to be ffa or full loot or anything, but it has to have RVR. it's just flat out part of the legacy. perhaps instead of a pve server, a "no safety" and a "more safety" type of server. |

People who think skill is somehow tied in with reflexes should explore chess, magic the gathering, the civilization games.
Imho it takes infinitely more skill to be a top ten magic player than to be good at any mmo. |

i only very briefly played the original but i am enjoying uw. though, ya, it needs depth, bugsquashes and an alignment solution.

What is your favorite and least favorite part of DFUW?
General Discussion « Darkfall: Unholy Wars 5/11/13 8:22:32 AM
For me?
The best: the world \ environment, the skillpoint (prowess) progression system, the reliance on craftables. The worst: the lack of depth in crafting (not nearly enough recipes, no hidden or hard to obtain recipes, etc, no alignment system causes no repercussions for douche actions. |

It's amazing how 9 years later WoW is still the only evenly executed MMO

you have to try to like eve. it is very hard, especially at first and ESPECIALLY if you play alone, which is totally not the way to play eve.
but.
once you get into the game and experience its depth and intrigue.... and embrace the notion of losing stuff when you die and see it as a good feature not a bad....
you will find the game you seek. |

MMORPG's released in 1997 and 2003 far more advanced than anything afterwards?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/10/13 5:54:30 PM
i wish people wouldnt cite WoW as the major problem with the sorry state of many MMOs. It's not WoW. the problem is that once WoW made so much money other game companies tried to piggyback on their success by creating similar games rather than trying to evolve the genre. the problem is lazy greedy game companies and devs, not WoW.
though i think that, looking at the recent bunch of games coming on the horizon, the trend might once again be shifting towards originality, and lets hope we will enter a new era of mmo inginuity on the backs of EQNext, Repopulation, Camelot Unchained, Hex MMOTCG, World of Darkness, Dragon's prophet, archeage, etc. |
