I think that quite possibly we might see some of the things from the new movie like seen in the new trailer out today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLtyuLGsj8Y  Some parts already look like Stygia and and other countries.

Ahh Funcom did this with Age of Conan ^ ^

Sounds like OP already wants to play rift and is looking for a handout.

Saw the game play video , color me un-impressed. It's too bad they keep sticking the Star Trek IP on crap. Legacy , STO , now this . There was plenty of crap before Legacy , but they're on a losing streak now , imo.

Armada 1 & to some extent # 2 were great. Legacy was evil. STO is picking up good. I hope Infinite Space appeals to the pre Legacy crowd.

Some AoC news (partial quoted below) read more here: http://templeofxotli.blogspot.com/

The interesting part is about the comboskipping changes! Makes for an interesting read, check it out if you are thinking about coming back to the game or wanting to catch up on what is coming.

Crowd Control Changes:

This change will affect the PvP side of the game, and I feel it is really much needed, the weight of the CC in the game mechanics at least for PvP it's just to heavy, most of your time while PvPing will be spent under the effect of CC being it a major one or a minor one, despite the new AA Anti-CC it still makes the experience not enjoyable.
Accordingly with the few information provided the major pace of this change will regard the "melee cc" due to the possible introduction of an attack before the execution of the skill, this will somehow affect the gameplay of the melee fighters, especially for a class like the Barbarian which is relying on the CC.
It will be interesting to see:
1) How will they work on the resistances to the CC especially for the Silence, which will be reviewed again;
2) How much melee will be affected by the change;
3) How much casters will have benefits/penalties from this changes.

Animation Rework:

When FC speaks about "The exploit we are not supposed to talk about" they are clearly referring to the comboskipping.
This change will aim directly to delete or at least reduce the occurrence of this exploit, by fastening the animation speed and by removing the root effect at the end of the combo (HoXes rejoice you won't be stuck anymore while using PoIF) they'll make the PvP much more dynamic and frenzied, faster combos will be harder to skip (if it'll be possible at all) and again this will affect badly all the classes that are "abusing" or take insane advantages from this "exploit" (Barbarian, Conqueror and Bear Shaman are the first coming to my mind).
Let me be clear anyway, FunCom classified the "Comboskipping" as an exploit, it is of course a practice which is on the very edge of the "Legal play" it is unfair by definition because male can skip better than female, because class X can skip better than class Y, but actually not Comboskipping will make your effectiveness in PvP far below the average.
This will be a really interesting change, and i'm absolutely looking forward to see what they'll do.

Age Of Conan - No Love No More - from HENRY YUKI FRANK

Made me laugh a lot!

If you are looking for skins then it is worth it. Otherwise it is not since weapons are scaled(so i hear).  If you want the black widow spider or the black moa it is worth it. If you want the gun that looks like a fish it is worth it.   The rewards are like novelty items since they wont give you an advantage over someone who doesnt have their HoM filled.

That's how I see it. Do you want different skins that won't be that unique as a hell of a lot of people will be running around with them anyways. Probably can't sell them either, so no profit there. But if you loved the first game then maximum respect to Anet for having some carry over. Personally I will be running around with all the new stuff.

The Anvil of Crom: Would F2P solve the population problem?

Is AoC "dead?" Hardly.

Is it harder than it should be to get groups? Hell yes.

This isn't as apparent when you spend a lot of time at endgame, grinding away at various level 80 Khitai tasks like I was doing prior to kicking off my CMA miniseries. Even though I'm playing on what is widely thought to be the highest population NA server (Wiccana), it's still challenging to get groups for anything prior to 80.

Finaticd, the dude is asking for info on the new PVP server not some history lesson.

Just curious if you could share the last time you logged on as I am seeing much discepancy with the things you are writing. Maybe if you let us know it would give what your saying some weight. You see there has been skill updates all along. Definately looks like your just bashing without any know how...

DarkAsmodeus summed it up great.

As for the current timeline of updates, the Blood and Glory ruleset server should be coming out in a month or so. They just updated the game engine, and released a max level solo instance. They have been pretty good with their update schedule but you may want to read up on the ruleset on the Blood and Glory server before you commit to anything.

Player looting  similar to warhammer loot generation is to be a possibility, among other things. I for one, am in!

King Arthur is good

Nice content updates incoming at last!

Its pretty difficult to go wrong picking a new hard drive.  SSDs sure, but the HDD market is so cut-throat that you are assured to get a high quality, high capacity HDD for a low price.  The only thing you have to do is not pick a Hitachi, get a large cache, and make sure you get one that supports SATA 2 or 3 inputs.

Western Digital now own Hitachi. I've never had any issues with 2 Hitachi's used in the past years batch.

A Western Digital Caviar Black is pretty nice for a hard drive, but it's also relatively expensive for a given capacity.  If performance matters, then go ahead and get one.

If you just want cheap bulk storage and performance doesn't matter, then you're better off getting a big, slow hard drive like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136514

Double the capacity of the ones linked above, and cheaper, too.

I can recommend that Drive too. Put one in my DVR :)

the game has always had stunning graphics so would someone explain why this is a big deal? The quality of the graphics was never the reason  people quit playing. Even at release the game was the prettiest MMO I ever played, but the game play was just not there for me. I always thought AoC as a sexxy but dumb as a box of rocks cheerleader of the genre

Remember back in the day when instances were born and used by Funcom first in the genre. In many ways this game engine update whilst not as profound is still important as it pushes the behind the scenes elements.

Trying playing Khitai and thinking the game is dumb.

Nvidia has put it up on their youtube channel too now.

I am loving the new light sources and changes to the engine now. Shadows were always good but the quality is better now and can be cranked up without the FPS hit.

In my opinion the game needed a bit more time.

Several bugs popping up, those that are used to regular Crysis, mousewheel to change suit ability, often in C2 this bugs out and you are stuck.

I hate how it says press left or right to view next player and you can't - bugged.

As I've steadily been leveling up seems like quite a few servers are unstable, search functions of servers are shit, poor choices compared to previous versions of the game.

It seems like COD4 had a big influence character is not as responsive, machine guns are a favourite and most importantly levels - I hate the levels, never had them in Crysis Wars multi. Everyone was even. The levels are there for the console folks as well as the limited amount of players per multi map game.

I like some of the multiplayer maps and game variants but some are too small.

Single player story and game is great.

Multiplayer is not so great, very disappointed here - nothing like Crysis Wars Multiplayer which I think needs the most skill out of any FPS I have played to date. Small maps, no sandbox type, vechiles... bit of a let down to be honest.

If anyone is wondering about short term plans on the game, now the Engine update is done Craig recently posted the following:

The update has only been out for two weeks, both of which have featured an update (and yes, there were always going to be the need for a few hot-fixes after an update of this complexity) and the pace of updates should be fairly steady now for the next few months. We have a lot of content to release, and that should start in probably two weeks time (pending any further bug-fixes required for the Dreamworld update) and then the other content should start to flow in at regular intervals over the next few months. This will start with the first of the solo instances and then move along with the solo ACGs, and the new team instances.

The dreamworld update did keep things tied up since the end of last year, but now we should indeed be able to release the prepared content at regular intervals over the next few months.

That was 5 days ago.

Today the Test Server was updated with the first game update he talks about, which is called the Refuge of the Apostate.
This is a level 80 solo instance located in Kara Korum. Picture of entrance area is below.

There has also been some new interesting Centre Pieces for Guild Cities:

If things are all on track now we should start seeing regular content additions through till the summer.

I would also expect some movie tie with the new film that comes in August. People from Funcom have already seen the film and have met with the people in charge.

Here is a pretty new interview with Craig: http://www.mmorpgitalia.it/site/content.php?1286-Age-of-Conan-Game-Director-Exclusive-Interview%21/view/1

Here is talks a a bit about the design of the game and the Dreamworld engine update, plus pvp, comboskipping and future content.
