Originally posted by Kanetm Comparisons are on all sorts of forums even here. So when he uses WoW as a comparison on some parts he does it because for alot of MMO players WoW was their first game online. They know no other type of play. If you type in AoC Vs WoW in google you get loads of replies. He also compares DAoC too. It is because so many people play WoW your going to get obvious comparisons. AoC wont have to rely on one feature it has a crop of them done in new ways for the genre. |

I played for a while got myself a mount, good gear, stack of cash and experience, but I have stopped playing.... Why? i find the game world small and the lack of lore is very off putting. Between the levels of 10 and 30 i found myself saying "whats the point of this game?", where's the story arc? Maybe its because i've been spoilt with better polish on other games and interaction. I did find the control system unpredictable and the GM's unforgiveable, for the ignorance shown to cheaters. Theres more bots than storyline, and my back yard is bigger than the gameworld size. I tried, hung there but, played better and moved onto better.

It doesnt cost any in game money to travel between the continents you just have to do a one-time only mission to get thru. But like i said if you want to travel to factions and you own nightfall you have to own factions too and have the game unlocked to you original account.

Should I play prophecys and factions first?

yea if you own all 3 games you can freely travel between them and "cap" the elites and purchase skills for 1k plus 1 skill point in game from skill traders. The more into the game the better skills the skill guys offer.

I believe the only upgrades you can purchase are, extra character slots, and nightfall 1mill edition (extra items) and for the skills, yea you can purchase them but they are only related to PvP only, not PvE - this is how i interpret the GW online store shop.

You will enjoy the storyline more in Propechies, The Pvp with alliance battles more in Factions. I enjoy the skills better available in Prophecies especially for farming. Nightfall presents neat weapons and inscriptions and some decent skills with classes to combine with original classes. I would suggest following the storyline though from the start in my opinion.

Am I the only one who found gw pve and skills boring?

I just made another character on Factions today i've been playing for just over an hour and i goto lvl 9. Point being, you really cant make your mind up on the game until you have experienced atleast 75% of its content. In PvE you have experienced maybe 5% of the game if that. PvE gets better and better if your playing Alliance Battles, and Balthazaar rewards you get you can use to unlock more skills including "elite" skills which you can only cap in PvE giving you a chance to experience what they are like. In Prophecies get out of the pre-searing area, then get out of the boring Ascalon area by completing the city mission quests furthering you into the game and story arc. In Factions get of noob island and onto the mainland, start doing the quests to get filled in about the story line, and as you progress maybe join a guild and choose whether to go Luxon or Kurzick. Most fun further down the road. Personally I would wait and do more of the other 2 games before you get nightfall, learn how it works and then progress. Nightfall does offer in my opinion the second best story line after the Original. Need any help In Game Name = Amazing Avery |

Go for GW for easy pick up and play it times, whether PvP of PvE its something enjoyable to mess around with. Who knows even if you like the feel of it you might be tempted to stick with it longer. IMO wait a bit longer with Vanguard and Lotr to see how they pan out. |

Exactly, what is the point of dissing it before its even out. Regardless of whether you think the AO engine its built on (abliet upgraded alot) is crap. Tinybina is a self confessed changed fanboy from AoC to War so coming on here and dissing the game without factual backup is pointless. Although i will apologise for my rudeness if it came across like that.
