War is on the decline, want to know why?

And even then, I can say with confidence that if anyone were to make a game according to your petty wishlist, you'd find an excuse to rant about how it's botched anyhow. So, really, guys. Give the intarwebs a rest and Fingers Off the F'ing Keyboard ! NO we don't want to know the reasons you think War is dying something like one month after opening. Not on these forums anyway. There are people who might care, why don't you mail the dev team ? Or the publisher ? Giving your opinion here is equivalent to a giant masturbation party, with all you people jerking each other off for having the same opinion as far as effect is concerned. Yay, you'll get twenty or some answers from guys who'll tell "hell, he's right !" and five other people who'll say "nah, ain't true!"... and all that will be achieved is another forty messages polluting the database. Some people have actual stuff to say about the game, please save them some server space and bandwidth. (I should start a chain mail of this post.) |

Well, I'd say in PnP it's all a matter of what the GM and the players want to play. |

And those people complain... Think about us poor europeans who'll have to wait till 11pm at best (is DST taken into account ?), eh ? Curse this americano-freakin'-centric world... |

Also as far as the EULA portion, he cant really get sued for what he is doing as it wont hold up in court, unless he makes profit off of it which directly effects FSS bottom line. there is plenty of texture mods for games I could name, as long as its for personal use/gain and not profit they cant and wont sue him. if that was the case Bethesda would of sued the pants off dozen of modders.
Hmm, right, but wrong. Bethesda released a SDK for modders to use. Meaning that 1) they're ok with people modding the game 2) said people won't have to do anything to the original code, textures or any original game material. If FSS hasn't done this yet, maybe they don't want their game modded, maybe they plan on releasing one later who knows ? Till then, it's still against the EULA to even tinker with the game (even though you can't get sued for this |

hmmm, k. Let me get this straight. You go ahead and disassemble the game, thus breaking a rule of not only HG:L's but of probably more than 90% of the games out there's EULA. You go and brag about it on the game's official forums and get banned for it. And here you are, complaining that they kicked you out ? Am I the only one here to think this guy is delusional ? As a matter of fact, when they could have gone further and sued you, you could be grateful that they were so soft on you. I won't even go so far as to roll on the floor laughing about your denial of you making nude patches for hellgate, oblivion or VTMB. Whatever you may call it, it IS porn, however soft and high quality it may be. Thus making their reason true, and probably a valid one too, though I haven't read HGL's official forum's terms of use either. |

Will Jack Emmert screw the pooch? Arguably again?
General Discussion « Champions Online 4/08/08 5:25:15 PM
A game with super-travel powers and yet CoX could bore you to tears with missions that wasted your time traveling between zones. And still, super-travel powers make travelling in CoX far less endearing than in many other MMOGs. I have yet to find an MMO that keeps my attention while I travel at all, though.
And CoX classes are pulled straight out of fantasy MMORPGs even though those classes have NO place in a superhero genre. How many times do you read the Avengers or Justice League and see someone spamming heals? A good point, but how many times do you enter a mission and expect to rest for 96 hours to heal those 4 hit points you lost against a mob in any MMO ? There is a time when it comes to making a game that is humanly playable over background realistic.
Perhaps JE has learned that copying everything in fantasy MMORPGs isn't necessary, but I'm less than enthused about Cryptic doing Champions Online. Champions was a superb pen-and-paper system, I have to wonder if they'll remember to use those great game mechanics in their version.
Being irremediably optimistic, I do not doubt, but hope. They said already that they were basing their rules upon this system. Only thing we can hope for is that the transition to something computer-playable won't be too far from the original. |

Okay, so for those of you who came in late, Marvel Universe Online is dead, buried and long since worm-eaten by now. Champions Online IS Cryptic's replacement project. |

I'm still playing CoX and weeping over its ever-shrinking apparent player count (pardon my trollesque digression, but what kind of reaction is that ? "Not a lot of players round here. Guess I'll just leave then." How is the population supposed to grow this way ?). Being a fan of customization-intensive systems, I'm highly anticipating this game and will definitely give it a try. |

"I am guessing this is a conversion from the Marvel game and not truely based on the Champions ruleset"
As a matter of fact, I seem to remember reading on the official site that they had taken the P&p Champions rules as a basis for their gamedesign, though of course some serious changes will have to be made so that we get something playable as an MMORPG |

And yes, I too guess CO came as sort of a replacement for MUO, but your grounds for this are mostly murky assumptions lacking real backup to me. Though I'll gladly accept any correction to my PoV. |

Hmm... just wondering... does anybody ever get a buddy key in here ? I posted smething like 3 weeks ago and still never got an answer... Might as well repost. I'd truly be interested in giving the game a shot. Thanks to anyone willing to part with what is obviously a rarity. neododge AT free DOT fr |

Thought I saw something like this coming. Too bad. I hope the solo is cool enough for my ten bucks then. Thanks for the update. |

Woohoo \o/
Guess I'm getting Live Gold soon then. I'd bought the game to try out the solo play -9.90€ didn't seem so expensive- and then find out how the multi was business-modeled to decide on whether I would play it online or not.
Thanks for the info !
