Best PvP MMORPG you've played to date
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/29/07 4:33:52 PM
DAoC is killing this poll... By far the most fun I've ever had in an MMO. I don't know why I haven't started up my account again. I guess I'm hoping for a new and better PvP based game! Fingers crossed for WAR. |

Originally posted by bumbaykerIt's not PvP. And it is. It is in the literal sense; one player verse another player. But when people talk about "real" PvP they are usually referring to combat between players of opposing factions/guilds/teams that are fighting, to the death, for a purpose. i.e. honor points, realm points, ranks within a ranking system, loot, items, etc. Pitting yourself against a friendly player to test your strength is most often known as "dueling," and is never done as a means to gain anything, and can easily be recovered from after the victor is declared.
PvP is why I play online games. Dueling is what I do when I get a new item and want to see how well it does before I am put in a "real" PvP situation. |

OK. Nut sure I understand all that. But it doesn't sound like combat is not very exciting. More information would be great. Combat is my big hook. If it's boring, I won't play. I don't care how much cool customization and features there are are (flying, building cities). Cause all those neat features are most likely means to start combat (territorial wars) a means to get to combat (flying - even combat in the sky I hear). |

OK, so I am dying for the English version to be released (this month!) so I can try this game out. Regardless of any answers I recieve to my question, I will still give it go!
All I'm wondering is how combat feels. I can't find any good videos of combat anywhere! Is it the target/auto-attack/button-mash WoW style? No targeting Age of Conan type stuff? What is it??? If anyone can direct me to some videos, or just tell me what it's like, that would be great!!
Thanks. |

I got the 14-day trial and have been thoroughly enjoying this game. I think driving AND fighting makes it a blast.
So, my big question is: What is it that killed this game?
Does it get worse later?
Does it become repetitive?
What is missing? |

What I am visualizing is a PvP Expansion game. The PvE would be more about building larger and larger nesting areas for your realm/guild/faction (whatever it would be called) and also overcoming the environmental disasters as in Volcanoes, Tornadoes, and other natural disasters. The PvP would be an integrated part of the expansion, as you would constantly be fighting for territory against opposing realms/guilds/factions. Of course there would be PvE combat against wild creatures and non-dinosaurs. But all the dinosaurs should be PCs.
Any ideas on questing? I don't like the whole fetch and deliver, or go kill X quests. PvP rewards could be based off of bringing back the bones of your enemies. |

Uhhm, mating? Maybe 'families' where you actually have an age and 'parents.' Dunno, lol. |

I think that would be awesome. lol.
I think I'll start designing it....
No unlockables plz. |

Of course they'll succeed. They already have before!
Dark Age of Camelot had extremely thrilling PvP. Just the fun of it alone could hold someone to the game, let alone the rewards and ranks gained through it.
Just my opinion. |

You're all right. I never said Guild Wars cost the same as WoW. However, my only main point was that it's not F2P. I still find it enjoyable and to each his own! You can actually get WoW for around $10 a month if you subscribe for a longer time. Though I subscribe monthly so I can cancel on short notice if needed. (I'm thoroughly enjoying my Paladin however)

I play WoW as my P2P. When I get bored I hope over to Kingdom of Loathing, an awesome and hilarious browser-based game. So, if you're not a graphics freak, try it out! kingdomofloathing.com works. |

Sounds like you've deffinately only done the starting instance and starting zone... Like the person before me said, it opens up afterwards. Just keep playing, you'll see. |

I'm in! Mostly go by Alamor; I'm thinking up guild names right now. If I think of anything I'll post it.
I'm not calling for a leader spot. Also, who can make a website for us?
