EverQuest: Building EQ - The Brad McQuaid Interview
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/04/12 2:14:46 PM
I wouldn't trust Brad to create anything these days. After the mess he made of VG and how he handled everything after that... He had a hand in EQ and at the time it was a great game. That type of game would be dead on arrival if it released today and I am certain that's the type of game he'd re-create. The whole "we made things hard because we remembered those games" ... well that's not what I like. I remember games I have fun in, not ones that are pointlessly a pain in the ass.

GamePro bad opinion on SWTOR
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/01/11 5:04:03 PM
I found her just as "odd" as the rest. She mentioned being in beta since friends and family but had never seen/gained a companion? Huh? |

Disappointing, I thought this was about the MMO. |

Won't bother buying the game. They can promote hackers, credit card fraud and spammers all they like w/o me. |

The only thing on that list that actually deserves to be there is AO. Based on your scale I am surprised you left off EQ if you have WoW on there. EQ was far wrose than WoW. EQ's problems lasted much longer as well. Anytime a patch went live it would go back to being crap for days. Needless to say I think your list is off. |

Jumping on the I hate Cryptic bandwagon before the game is even in beta just makes you look dumb. Keeping the DM tools in this game is definitely required. Simply slapping MMO on the thing wouldn't work. |

Did WISH even make it out to be cancelled? I thought it died in production stage. I played the beta so I knew it was going to die either way. |

Dungeons & Dragons Online: Atari: Turbine Lawsuit "Frivolous"
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/04/09 7:27:13 PM
Turbine should be counter sued for the travesty they subjected us to with DD0. It's the worst thing they could have done for a D&D MMO. |

General: Problems With MMOs? D&D 4ed has Answers
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/27/09 2:39:31 PM
All that's wrong with MMOs? Seriously? The game is quick to get into, not bogged down in minutiae which gives you more time to focus on story, characters and fun. Some might find charts and wheels and all other of manner of ways to organize things fun to deal with but I'd imagine most people don't. I've been playing D&D for a very long time and until 4e came out I was a stanch 1st ed AD&Der. 4e streamlined the play in the areas it needed to and I've since switched to it. The game play sessions are much more playing now than trying to figure out if you hit or not or crit or any manner of thing that requires rolls and charts. Frankly I think the game has more of a board game mechanic than mmo though it has a mix of some of the terminology of each. No it's not the original D&D but people said the same thing when they came out with Unearthed Arcana back in the 1e days. |

General: Why Don't We See Classless Games?
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/21/09 12:16:51 PM
Classless games have less variety than classed games. Why? Because people do what is easiest and once a "best path" is figured out they all do it. Tank-mage, yehaw. |

Aion: NCsoft: Aion Will be Second Only to WoW
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/13/09 6:54:08 PM
Surpassed Warhammer with 300k subs in January? Eh? In January Warhammer had like 750k players. It wasn't till after that it went DOWN to 300k (I am one of those people that left). I know EvE guys like to preach about how great it is but seriously. As to Aion, I've enjoyed what I've seen so far but it's a PVP game, it won't be remotely near the scale of WoW. I'll be playing it. It might put the nail in Warhammer and it might be 2nd place but I just can't imagine it'll be very popular for long due to the PVP focus. |

Stargate Worlds: Source: August 1st License Deadline
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/29/09 1:25:19 PM
Stargate has great potential as an MMO. It could be a Scifi and Fantasy MMO all in one from the simple fact that once you hit the gate you can go anywhere. Not sure how that is a "fail". The series on TV were good as were the spin-offs, all of which got good ratings for their markets. Farscape as a MMO, now there is your so called "fail". Other than running away from the galactic police what else is there to do. Lexx? Seriously? Just name it Star Trek and don't make it silly. Doctor Who? I am the biggest Doctor Who fan... seriously. The similarities between Stargate and Doctor Who are very nearly the same except for one big problem... the Doctor wouldn't be into fighting. Name an MMO w/o fighting that's worth a crap. Please don't say webkinz ;) |

Aion: Tower of Eternity: Associate Producer Interview
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/21/09 12:10:41 PM
That's gotta be a joke. Warhammer's main purpose was suppose to be RVR but even in end game it's mostly PVE keep swaps or PVE in their new LoTD zone. Don't use Warhammer as a example of good gaming to hold up to others. They got some good things in the game but end game RVR is not one of them. Aion would do well to not force PVP on people in PVE zones specially when it's the only place you can go to level. Give people options... not giving it to them will just drive people away when they get tired of being ganked by higher level people while they are simply trying to level up. |

General: Massey: The Myth of Role-Playing Servers
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/09/09 5:52:45 PM
Like his former game "Wish" this article is a flop. It's like he's making it up as he writes. Why he has to project his experiences on everyone else is beyond me. RP servers exist, for a reason. People want an environment more conducive to RPing. I dunno what game Dana played on that ruined his RP experience but whatever it was it left a massive scar as anyone can easily tell by reading this article. People role-play. Whether you consider is RP or not doesn't matter. Sorry for the "Wish" jab but that game was seriously a train wreck. |
