CCP responded to my petition to let me know it is a typo on the page and the fee would be $14.95. Thanks for the responses! :D |

Since I can't post on CCPs forums without my sub :P I just went to resub and noticed the page was quoting me $19.95 for 30 days + initial account registraton ( I have an account that I set up two years ago) Is this my punishment for not reupping in the last 90 days or so, or is this an error? Figured I might as well check if anyone else has any info on this before I authorize my payment :) Any help greatly appreciated. |

My son used some Christmas money to buy At World's End last night, which made me decide again to sit down and watch all the movies. Sounds like something I'd love to share with him! |

I've worked for these kinds of companies in the past (not game companies, clueless companies lol). Life is quite short so it's best to chuckle to yourself, have that next drink and go on enjoying whatever non-SOE game you fancy. Does make me think of the first act of Ep. III, though: "I think we lost something" *flaming wreckage* :D:D |

Mostly WoW and Eve with some America's Army every now and then. |

EVE Online: Trinity Launch Date Announced
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/28/07 3:16:14 PM
IIRC, system specs should not change unless you choose to use the upgraded graphics engine. The legacy client is still supported with Trinity, albeit with the lower-res graphics. Also, I believe they have introduced some optimizations that should actually improve your experience with your existing system. |

What is the incentive to continued play of this game?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 11/27/07 1:38:42 PM
Interesting PvP battles could keep me hooked for years. Silly story, I played Starsiege:Tribes for about three years constantly, same mods, same maps over and over and it was always fun. For players like me, PvP where playing your playstyle is fun and makes a difference should stay quite engaging for quite some time. Oh yeah, I quit playing Tribes regularly when Tribes 2 came out :D |

Funny you should mention salvaging, I was just thinking last night I should train it and quit letting all those beautiful empty wrecks go to waste ;p. I'll look you guys up sometime sounds like a good bunch, thanks for the info! |

I would say the churn is based more on the fact that, as CCP readily admits, EVE is not for everyone because of your reasoning and other factors. I can't ever catch up to 4 year vets that keep playing; I also can't invent the internal combustion engine or powered flight :). The point then is to pursue goals that I find personally meaningful/entertaining, rather than chasing the level cap or the next big boss drop (not that these themselves can't be meaningful/entertaining, it's just not the model EVE is built on). |

If I Were Rich Enough Could I Return SWG To Pre-NGE?
SWG Veteran Refuge « Star Wars Galaxies 11/19/07 12:09:43 PM
IANAL, this is just my opinion. The fact that it could be itself probably means your chances are slim. Licensing, from what I've seen, is a black art, but lisence holders have an army of people with letters after their names that help them decide what their rights are worth, and unless you were wealthy enough to pay them more than they thought the license would make them for the rest of time, they'd likely turn you down flat even if they only intended to sit on the license and had no current plans to use it. |

That's great, I know what some of those items can mean to someone's ingame experience. Most Big Evil Corporations(TM) employ actual human beings at the front lines of their operations, who, while just trying to earn a living like everyone else, I can tell you for a fact, enjoy a little recognition every now and then :). |

Originally posted by katriell That was the exact situation that led to my early grinding experience with pistols in SWG (IIRC, my Bartle score is similar to yours if not precisely the same :)) EVE almost perfectly counters that tendency by locking you into skill training time that can't be changed by gameplay choices. For me at least, this leads to an interesting balancing act of self-determination (in selecting skills to train) and allowing my character's development to be influenced by the 'natural laws' of the game world. Since I find the EVE universe fascinating, it's a dance I find quite entertaining :) |

Wow, I'm honored that Laura chose my lark to spotlight :). I think part of the delay in experiencing EVE as a personally satisfying game has come from the corp/guild pressure that Laura references near the end of her article influencing me to try to roll characters for certain roles. It's not that corpmates are a bad influence, it's more a matter of matching my taste in gameplay to the culture and activities of my chosen corporation. That's why I've so far resisted joining a player corp with my current character; I want to develop a 'feel' for my character and preferences among the various choices present in EVE, then I can make an informed choice as to where to apply and hopefully find a corp that increases my enjoyment of the game. |

Nice Linna, it's funny when I was on Bloodfin I thought I was missing out on the action of some of the bigger servers, but I find that sense of community was very common on BF. Nice to know even now that I shared in a little part of it while it lasted :) |
