By knowing what you want to get out of it and knowing that you have complete control of your characters advancement in anyway you wish to do within the game. Have a goal, have a focus.

You've obviously never even tried the game. Any new player can come in and within a 3-4 short weeks, compete successfully in PvE or PvP as long as they take advantage of the 100% skill bonus properly or any other area of focus.

Most people tend to screw up in Eve when newly joining by trying to tackle a few different kinds of skills here and a few more there, digging too far into multiple specialized areas to be effective in any one within a short time frame.

I don't understand how you can have the "wrong" idea about Jedi as well. Really the Jedi in the books and movies have said time and again that good intentions mean little and that they can lead to the Dark Side all the same. Jacen Solo had good intentions, but in the end the means he employed drove him to the Dark Side of the Force.

A lot of people tend to look at the Force from a realistic point of view and to allow for shades of grey, but this was not how Lucas intended it and has shown time and agan in the stories that this thinking is what causes those Jedi to fall.

Actually Jacen chose the dark side. He chose to become Sith. Did you read the books? He was mislead into believing becoming Sith would bring about a peaceful galaxy. That's not exactly good intentions, choosing the dark side. I don't care if it was for his daughter, he know what the dark side was about. He murdered Luke's wife to do so.

As for the video, certainly there is no mistaking her intentions and choices.

Those that don't go "out into the world" now would not have done before either, other than to travel to the dungeons/raids that they have waited an age to get a group together for. The only difference now is that you don't have to spend all your time finding a group of people and then spend 5-15mins to travel to the dungeon only to have someone leave and have to travel back to a city to find another player to fill the spot.

All the dungeon finder has done is speed up a laborious process and actually allowed me the freedom to explore more than i did before as i don't 'have' to be in a city to get a group together now like a 'had' to be before. I have several L80's, but have done more of the quests and learned more about the lore since the dungeon finder as i have the freedon to travel and quest whilst also getting a dungeon run together.

This. It's gotten to the point where it's not about world exploration and community but about time.  DF gives you time to explore and mission and engage the community without just sitting around trying to get a group of people together.

I really enjoyed the game. Even had the collectors edition. A shame it's gone.

I thought the limit on PLEXs was around 260mil. Isn't it set by CCP? Never bought one for less.

Something that is definitly not working is: Stopping playing for a few days, jumping out of the shadows, get the girl and bring her home to the nerd lair, where you start playing hardcore again..

I was making a point about generalizations but hey, take it however you want.

We learned that the definition of casual and hardcore is completely subjective. Everyone has their own definition making it a moot point to even argue about it.

What I'm enjoying is watching Rockgod flip out and Iksar defending his lonely solitary life as something important and with meaning.
