Disregarding the fact that you assume 4 days played = 96 full hours without a break.

If we can guess that the average person can play for about 6 hours per day on average, that is still only 16 days, a little over 2 weeks before you have done everything with the exception of a few missed quests here and there.

Not really the amount of content one would expect of an MMO which wants you to pay a sub. A single player rpg sure, but not an MMO.

Uh, no, see ESA Industry Facts here: http://www.theesa.com/facts/index.asp

So working class is the majority of players. I sure got no six hours to play every day. Not even close actually. Yeah, holiday is awesome but that won't continue forever so back to work means LOTS less time to play. Which means that the game content there is right now, will sustain me longer.

Also, don't go nitpicking on the ESA listed facts, please. Instead use Google!

Beat the main story.

Yup, which makes 96 hours. That's a damn good cut for my 50 EUR.

Myself just hit Transylvania with 4 days play time netto. That's an even better ROI especially with the high density of story and lore driven design taken into account.

Mass Effect 3...Dragon Age 2...and now SWTOR.

All have been heavily critizied. However, their older games...Mass Effect 1 and 2...Dragon Age 1...even before that...have been critically acclaimed. After they got bought by EA, it seems their games are no longer the quality they once were.

And SWTOR is already talking about turning free and losing a good portion of their servers. It did much horribly than anticipated.

Will you still buy Bioware games at release? Do you still enjoy Bioware's new games? Or are you disatisfied with their latest games they have made?

You probably need to take Mass Effect 3 off that list.  With the exception of the ending, it was a pretty good game.  Many many people have very high praises for ME3.

The metacritic user score says different

Metacritic user scores have no credibilty anymore.  People often vote games down because they either don't like the developer/publisher.  See Modern Warfare/Battlefield ratings.  Not to mention every other high profile game that has been released.  User ratings are meaningless.

That's a contradiction. They might not have any meaning or impact for you but meaningless? Nope.

It was not intended as a blanket statement.  However, when people vote down a game solely because of the company that is developing or publishing it, it tells you nothing about the quality of the game.  That is when user ratings are meaningless.  Rate the game, not the company.

To be fair, there are quite a few game ratings on Metacritic that aren't tainted by popularity contests.  But games with big hype and companies with a poor reputation in the gaming community are often dealt bad hand.

I do agree.

Pre-CU Vet as well. We, as in players, burn through content quicker than a developer can reasonably churn out.

That's a prime aspect of SWG as of old to having us enabled to make our own story/content/fun/whatever. Not being put on rails. Made for a different community I guess.

I still remember the first RP I had the honor to be, noobish but, part of... even got explained emoting. Players make games live.

I don't remember anything like that at all for SWTOR. Mob competitive on-rails game with a defined track stop, time sinks and a e-peen ladder of sorts (which got exploited oh-so-fast!).

I'd strongly recommend reading Halting State from Charles Stross. Maybe it will widen the understanding of underlying business model a bit to the readership.

Stating no understanding of the potential just caters to the entrepeneurs.

Radiance is horrible and a lame gate gear. It is generally hated in the LOTRO community and people have been asking for it to be banished to the pits of Mordor for years now. Can you articulate why you are so raged about the radiance change?

The only people crying are the ones to lazy to get it. I had so much fun getting my gear cause I learned how to play in groups early, something that has been completely dumbed down now in the lower levels. So many single player quests that I am shocked that anyone in there 30;s knows how to play in agroup. LEt fast forward that to not having to work in groups to get rad gear and go straight into the Watcher raid where group after group will completely fail becuase of the lack of group content to ready them for the big raids.

THis is almost to the point wohere it is becomg idiotic to even log in anymore. Not having those moments of helping people get rad coins and run the dungeons , no getting the excitement of getting your rad. That will be gone only a few who played through Dark Delving for 12 hours and had a blasted are soon forgotten by the gibve me give  give me to lazy do shit crowd.

Mabe creating games is easier for shit crowds cause they could care less, just as long as millions of other shitheads are playing to. Instead of making a quality product that maintains it's composer in the rough times and doesnt sell out as sson as it get difficult.

Again, I have it, I'm not crying and I say good riddance. And I did have fun running the instances. And this was before you could run any one of them to get the coins. But I ran them becaue they were fun, not because running them meant I got radiance gear. Sorry you are mad though.

Dont take it personal man,, we are talking in general, this is not a point fingers at mmorpg.com community post. :)

Not taking it personal and I get that you are mad and I'm sorry you are. But I as well as others have not liked radiance gear for qutie some time.

for me it was a seemingly fake way to funnel players through certain content and to keep players from doing other content because they hadn't jumped through the right amount of hoops.

I can't get behind that type of gaming. In lineage 2 if people needed others for a raid they would put the word out and we would show up. regardless of gear.

I like that a game allows players to participate even though they aren't geared up and might fail. Otherwise it's just forcing players to the same content, the same gear and a certain level of homogenous customization.

That's exactly how I came to join my first raid. Couldn't agree more.

I don't know about you guys, but whenever I had a problem in-game I always got help in a matter of minutes. Same with e-mails. Sure, updates are slower but that's not really Codemasters' faul, is it?

Anyways, I hope things get settled between the two and we can keep on playing like we used to.

Same here. Had a borked char transfer between servers once. Got sorted within 48h flat and square.

If I may put forward one thing tho... I miss the my.lotro.com component. If not for me having less time nowdays, I'd just start from scratch only cos of having the option to utilize the web component.

To unravel the deed / trait / virtue confusion a bit, first of know that the scope differs. Honestly I give a bat-s*** to any comparision to WoW. I simply do not care.

So, those two things of my chest, I suggest to have a look at the lorebook at http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Special:Advancedsearch?type=deed&action=search&sort=name

As far as I gathered, in the later posts the prime points of discussion are the need for virtues least at max level and the how to gain them respective level them. So what's the issue? Latest with Moria you see a directly translated increase in virtue levels by simply completing quests. Even before that you could gain virtue levels. There's a need to kill loads of mobs to stay competitive? I beg to differ big time!

Furthermore this only goes for the slayer deeds. Exploration, race, reputation and lore deeds cannot be completed by only killing stuff over and over. Sure there is an exception for the racial ones like the Enmity of blah deeds. Yet you gain those by simply playing and / or following the quest lines cos latest you reach level cap you killed ten times as many mobs as needed.

Another random example would be the Forochel Survivor deed. Complete any 20 quests in Forochel an you complete the deed, gain a title and +1 to empathy virtue.

In my opinion it is a very agile and scalable system tied to an increasing grind if you really think you need the, for example, Avenger of Sarnúr one.

But is there a need for a sole grind to get or stay competitive? Simply put, no, as there are alternative paths open to you.

Actually there IS this nice sticky first on top.

Go read and all your questions will be answered.

"Quotes are single lines meant to represent the entirety of some great mans philosophy. As such they are a great disservice to his legacy." ~Elvander

Great! Many thanks for posting! :)

Yes, the characters will receive a certain bump although I don't remember which level you start of at the expansion.

No, Throne of Baal starts you right of in the expansion after you defeated the boss at the end of Shadows of Amn therefore skipping the Shadows of Amn content.

Starting a Shadows of Amn game will take you through from the beginning to the end with all content included.

How about this one: Stick with a design from the set go and don't change it, maybe even multiple times, while the game is live? Just a thought...

(And I'm not necessarily talking about SWG. Which is the or a prime example obviously.)

I'd be interested in that as well.
