World of WarPlanes: Developers Answer Fan Questions
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/03/12 2:32:21 AM
I will probably hate this game just like I hate WoT. WoT could've been so good if only they tried to get a minimal amount of realism into the game. There's just so many ridicilous game mechanics that I'm truly appalled. Let me recap a few points of why I stopped playing: - In WoT tanks has hitpoints! Hitpoints! That's some serious retardedness right there. A tank has armor that you either penetrate or you don't, based on armor thickness, angles, armor quality and velocity of shell, hardness and type. Using hitpoints is just plain dumb and is a plain giveaway that it will be a stupid game. - There's just prototype tanks everywhere. It totally ruins immersion. Most of those prototype tanks never got further than a drawing table. Battles have extremely unrealistic orders of battle. The main bulk of each of the sides contains superheavy prototype tanks. - The sides contains a mish-mash of nationalities and timeframes. Your side can contain everything from PzkwIII, T-34, Sherman to a Crusader. Now that's an immersion killer to anyone who ever cared about the history of AFV's. - Handling of the tanks are stellar. It's like driving a sportscar on an autobahn. With proper slow handling you would get a lot more tense battles where you tried to flank the heavies. You have that today too but it's like a game of Need for Speed. There's just so much more I dislike about the game that I stopped playing after just a short period of time. The reason I played for as long as I did was because I'm really starved for a proper tank simulator. This is not that game however. |

Is the game really THAT bad?

Yes it's terrible. Go away. There's enough whiners playing as it is. |

13 hours 35 minutes until SWTOR early release begins. Are you ready?!?!

Meh... I registered my code the 29th November :( If I get in by thursday I'm happy. I honestly think every pre-order will get in by the 15th just to avoid all the whine. Bioware said "up to 5 days" but you know people. They will whine no matter what. |

Low level Bounty Hunter was done right.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/29/11 12:42:02 PM
Before the beta I was hellbent on either a Sith Inquisitor or an Imperial Agent. During the beta I tried Sith Inqusitor, Imperial Agent, Trooper, Jedi Consular and Bounty Hunter. I totally agree with you. The BH was easily the star of the show to me as well. Let me add that I only took them to about lvl 10 so it's not a proper representation of the classes as a whole. I do believe that playing even just the first 10 levels will give you a feel of the class if nothing else. The Empire side was also a hell of a lot more interesting to play than the Republic. It was almost like you could say if you like to hold old peoples hands, feed their cats and water their potted plants; roll Republic. If you like to shoot people in the face after you've stolen their credits; roll Empire. The Empire campaign and choices just felt more involving to me. Maybe it's because I'm a psycopath I don't know, but that's how it felt. My main will definitely be a bounty hunter. Maybe even a Trooper depending on server choices. I don't want to join an overcrowded faction. |

Wow this whole tread is a stinker. It's full of rumours and groundless hearsay. Someone heard from someone who used to play that EVE is starting to xxx, without explaining where they heard it or any other kind of credible sources mentioned. That's not how you build an argument. At least not outside of the kindergarten. When you follow up the concerns you realise that 90% is bullshit. I read through the first 15 pages and it was filled with untrue rumours and someone who didn't like EVE because it was like playing MS Excel, so he didn't understand why someone would be as stupid as to play EVE at all. To not like EVE is perfectly legal. It's not a game for the mass market in the first place. It attracts a certain kind of player for sure. It might very well be true that EVE's loosing a few subs. That's good. That shows CCP that they have to fight for their subs and keep improving. CCP has been pulling some wrong decisions over the years, that's inevitable. This game is one of the oldest - if not the oldest - MMO still out on the market. The lack of any real competitors plus the ability of CCP to renew their game has made it grow for almost a decade now. It's obvious that the OP is butthurt of EVE for some reason and is doing whatever he can to badmouth the game. Come up with some credible sources. Back up your claims with numbers or at least some circumstantial evidence. As it is you just come of as a disgruntled player who probably lost his carrier in an anomaly and ragequit over it. |

World of Tanks: A Different Kind of Tanking
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/16/11 6:45:40 PM
This game has nothing to do with a simulation as it says in the mmorpg newsletter. I remember being very excited about WoT when I first heard of it. That's until I got to try it myself that is. This game is a heresy to anyone who knows only just a little about WWII. Let me recap a few points: - hitpoints. Tanks shouldn't have hitpoints. You either hit and penetrate or you don't. If you penetrate you do x amount of damage depending on shell, where you hit, what kind of vehicle and the chance factor. I'm also impressed at how your crew manage to repair your tracks within seconds. - The game is set during WWII as apparent by the locations. Mixing up tanks from all different nations is ridiculous. You have battles where your side has tigers, jagdpanthers, IS and Shermans. It's just dumb and totally breaks immersion. It should've been broken down into different eras and sides. You pick the german side you will only have german tanks available to you etc. - There's prototype tanks everywhere. It's stupid. Most of these tanks didn't even get off the drawing board. Hell if your side has 5 tiger tanks you will probably loose because in this company that's like a light tank. And anything Soviet is über. Russian devs so I guess that explains itself. It does make their product worse nevertheless. - Artillery in this game is just incredibly gay. It uses some kind of GPS system to target enemy tanks. Artillery shouldn't be used in a direct capacity like you do in WoT at all. There's a lot more about this game that is retarded. I really wanted to enjoy the game but the lack of realism prevented me no matter how much I tried. |

Maybe I misunderstood you Malcanis. Maybe you're saying in general everybody wants to blob with a few notable exceptions. If that's the case I agree with you. Ghost is correct when he says that people just doesn't want to risk anything. If you remove the risk of PvP'ing then all we have left is World of Warcraft. If you have 10 then the enemy will form 100. That's my experience too. We've started going out in frigs to get fights lately. At least then our enemies will give us a fight instead of scattering. Don't be hating on INIT Ghost. They're a good bunch. Solid PvP'ers. They're currently neutral to us but they used to be blue to Tri not too long ago. How's Wookie by the way? I saw they left PL and joined Init. He should come back to NCdot to be honest. Wookie had a good rep over here and I personally loved his roams. |
|
Originally posted by Malcanis You are so wrong mate. Sure there's a lot of blobbing. If we've dressed up to get a fight and come across a fleet half our size we will kill it, obviously. That's not how we try to play the game however. At least not me. Blobbing and ganking is the boring part of EVE. I'm in D00M and unless we're on a campaign we always try to get good fights, fighting outnumbered or getting som good fights somewhere. I have dozens of battlereports to back that up in case you don't believe me. Sadly those good fights are getting rare and far between.
7 vs 15 isn't that bad. Many of my best fights has been in that area. When I go on a roam I'm looking for an adrenaline rush and I don't get that from ganking or blobbing someone. I know for a fact that a lot of old-timers has stopped playing EVE because the PVP isn't what it used to be. That's a fact. I don't have the solution however. How do you buff skirmish/small-scale warfare in EVE? I have no clue. |
|
|
My problem with EVE is the death of skirmish, small scale or solo-pvp. All those huge sov battles taking part with thousands of players is extremely boring in my opinion. Roaming fleets consist of 30-50 man gangs. It's just too many to compete with unless you have a similar fleet no the standby. All my best fights in EVE has been at either 1vs1 or 10-15 vs 15-30. Ganking stuff is boring. |

World of Tanks makes me cry. It could've been so great with even just a grain of realism. As it is today it's as unrealistic as a sci-fi game. Gives us an updated WWII Online please! |

I'm rummaging quickly through our killboards to see if I can find some interesting battlereports. Too many kills to really find the one's that stood out. But here's a few I quickly found: http://thenc.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=8001459 gf http://thenc.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=7970096 gf http://thenc.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=7850667 gf http://thenc.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=7806562 gf http://thenc.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=7794696 I remember this one. Epic fight. http://thenc.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=7698361 Skills will always win the day in my opinion. Although if you're really heavily outnumbered and the enemy has a significant number of caps on the field they might destroy your structures even though you may kill more of their ships. I only play EVE to blow up stuff so I'm happy either way. |

Yeah everyone should defend their space when reds/neutrals come into their space. So next time you see enemies in your space get in fleet ASAP and go out and fight! Don't let us wait for 30 minutes for you to form up and then blueball us because you only had 3 times as many. <3 NC |

Sounds like the NC to be honest :D |
