That PvP isn't personal I agree with 100%. I always get pissed however when I loose a ship. Not at who blew me up but at myself. Well if it's unavoidable it's cool, but if I loose a ship because of personal tarding I usually just log in anger. I remember once I had lost an Arazu and a ceptor just 30 minutes after that, both stupidly if I may say. I grabbed a Zealot from my hangar and told the rest in gang if I loose this one too I'm not logging in again for a week and I meant it. Luckily it didin't come to that. I still to this date haven't played an MMO with more consequences to bad PvP'ing than EVE. It really keeps the PvP tense and worthwhile unlike other MMO's where there isn't any real consequence apart from a short walk. |

Fanfest starts Thursday what are you hoping to see?

I'm expecting a Gallente buff. No seriously I am. Blasters + armor tanked sluggish boats has forced me over to Amarr. I would be most happy if they buffed rails though. How I have no clue about. Let's see what CCP comes up with. |

You nailed real life right on the head. That's why I decided to kill myself last year. Everything goes in circles: You wake up, you eat, you take a dump, you go to work/school/whatever, you eat lunch, you come home, you eat dinner .... every day is the same. No seriously I lied. I didn't kill myself, but if I'm bored I try to do the stuff I like instead of having to kill myself. I play EVE too and I don't mine and you know why? Because I think it's boring. |

I do not like F2P. In a capitalistic world the best incentive to guarantee future improvements is profit. If you pay for a lifetime sub, there's no monthly fee or in some other way doesn't earn money then development will eventually stop or crawl to a minimum. It's just how the world is put together and let me say there's nothing wrong with pursuing profit! I do not think F2P can generate enough money for the development process to satisfy my high demands of what a game should include today. It might be enough to satisfy many other peoples needs, but that doesn't help me very much. I have X amount of time available to play games every day and I won't settle for second best just to save myself a few bucks each month. I want an A grade game to fill my precious spare gaming-time. Because of this I never buy lifetime subs, I encourage developers to have a monthly fee and I'm not afraid to cancel a subscription if they fail to meet my high demands. This is the best way to ensure the devs are on their toes to satisfy my hunger for top entertainment. You can sum it up with one line: Would you work for free? |

About people quitting on new release MMORPG with in 15D's or less, I know who they are.

If I had a negative opinion on the game why would I spend 49$ on it? Your argument is flawed. I still don't consider CO a major MMO release. Major releases would be games like World of Warcraft, Age of Conan, WAR, the new Star Wars game, AION, LoTRO and so on. For reference; Aion isn't released yet and it has almost 55.000 posts. CO is released and doesn't even have 10.000 so yes I don't consider it a major MMO release. Sorry if that ruined your day. My negative opinion on CO isn't more arcane than the fact that I think it's basically a very bad MMO. Besides if you had 'bothered' reading the rest of my post you would've known that. Ignorance seldom pays. |

Your analysis is rubbish. I'm 35 years old and I've been playing computer games since the early '80s on more than a dozen different systems. I try to play every major new MMO release as I like the genre. I didn't consider CO a major MMO release, but was bored and figured I might as well just test it out. I bought the game on Steam just a couple of days ago and I've already stopped playing. Think I played it for two days in total. The only thing that was cool about CO was it's character creation. Animations, gfx, sound, controls, skills, npc's - the lot - didn't appeal to me at all. I find the art-direction totally unappealing to me to say the least. It's been many years since I've bought a game that I've stopped playing this quickly. Usually when I hit a stinker - personal opinion of course - I try to force myself to play it for a bit in case it grows on you. You know just like those slow novels that turns out great in the end. Well I can't be arsed with CO. I just can't possibly see myself growing into liking this game. The only redeeming factor so far has been the character creation process. Can't be bothered trying out new characters either as the problem is with the game as a whole more than the skills. Ah well it's cool. I didn't really have any preconceptions about the game so I'm not dissapointed or anything. Maybe a bit vexed at myself for dishing out 49$ before doing at least a little homework first. Serves me right for being a tard. Kudos to CO for daring to be different. I wish we had more MMO's with a distinct originality like CO. This game is definately not for me though. |

I applaud the decision. Let's hope devs around the world has learned a thing or two with AoC and WAR. |

Calling Vanguard ugly is taking it a bit far. It's looking quite good actually. Then again claiming Vanguard's better looking than AoC is just madnessTM. Vanguard, LoTRO and AoC are all very good looking MMO's. IMO AoC is currently the best looking MMO out there. It's also got a very distinct art direction where you can clearly see what region you're in by looking at the different houses and objects. There's not many generic objects lying around like you see in many other games. |

AoC basher confessing sins and making it good.

> 1. You didn't play WAR and yet you claim to say WAR is doing much better then AoC. > Don't have to play the violin to judge whether a player is good or bad either.
That analogy must be the dumbest thing I've ever heard on this forum. Seriously. The correct analogy in this circumstance would be that you compared two violin players of which you only had heard one, while you backed up your arguments on the other by hearsay and rumours. Not very enlightened is it? |

I've been training my alt for over a half year now without really using her for anything but as a cloaked scout. She can fly Hulks and almost all of her 7mill SP so far are into mining. The problem is that I have no idea about how you mine. All my time in the game has been spent in 0.0 PvP'ing. Oh well... |

I will give you one example. A couple of months ago, before Darkfall had come out, there was this rabid "hater" on Darkfall forums. All he did was say how much Darkfall sucks and how much better AoC is. Forum mods tracked this users IP and guess what? The IP was in Funcom headquarters. That's right. Not just Oslo, Norway, but inside Funcom headquarters. Mods posted pictures as proof. Is the what you call a "conspiracy theory"? Another example. A couple of days before WAR came out, we had many new posters who posted about 30 posts a day, half of them on WAR forums saying how much WAR sucks, half of them on AoC forums telling how great AoC is. This is honestly all they did. You could instantly sense that they didn't have any interest in having a real discussion, all they did was bash WAR or praise AoC. This is not how "regular gamers" behave and the timing (just before WAR launch) was not a coincidence. Viral marketing is happening all around us and I pity those individuals who are so naive that they think it isn't happening.
Can you please point me to this evidence as I find it very hard to believe without proper facts. I'm sorry but I won't just take someone's word that this is fact without proper evidence. Oh yeah and you said that people doesn't have to whip out SPSS to prove their argument when discussing things in a forum like this. I beg to differ. If you say 2/3, 66,6% or any other specific number in any other specific case you should be able to back that up with hard facts. If you can't then don't mention any specifics. If you can't scientifically prove your point it's based on personal feelings, hearsay or opinions. That's perfectly fine, but don't expect people to accept your unproven opinion as fact. By the way; yes I'm Norwegian. Does that exclude my opinions on this game in this forum? |

My post in this thread got a warning for flaming. Is mmorpg finally being moderated? If it is it's about God damned time and I gladly accept my warning. If it's just a fluke happening I don't give a shit if they ban me. They might be trying to fix up this place though. I'm giving them the benefit of doubt. I just hope the mods moderate obvious attempts at trolling as well. The OPs first post is in my opinion considering his history. |

Might try this one actually. Looks interesting and it's not the same old, same old, elves, dorfs and Hungarar's Blade of überness. |

Funcom doesn't owe you lot anything. You behave like you bought a product and therefore they're in your debt forever. Seriously kids, grow up. Either you buy it or you don't. Funcom doesn't owe you anything. Hell I didn't get a free pass to bash Coca Cola forever because one of their sodas was out of bubblies once. It's your right to decide never to buy a Funcom product ever again. If you hated AO and AoC you shouldn't either as that's two out of two mmo's they released you didn't like, but seriously just go to the Bioware section of this forum or somewhere else. I don't really care of your 100 arguments why Funcom is the reason behind the international financial crunch, why Funcom developed aids or why they haven't eradicated bad milk yet. At least the mods on mmorpg has started to lock threads more often. Maybe it's hope for this place after all. |

What can I say. You need to be pretty sad and devoid of a real life if you make it a lifestyle into hating a product or developer you don't like. Sad, sad, sad. I'm glad I got positive entertainment to fill my life with. Good luck with your project. What are you trying to achieve by the way? If Funcom stop making games will the gaming universe be a better place? Then you wouldn't have games like Anarchy Online, Age of Conan, The Longest Journey and Dreamfall. All are distinct and innovative games. Kids these days... |

Nice summary of the state of the game there. Sums it up quite nicely I think. I'm pretty sure many of those who took the trial feels the same way. I'm expecting a good chunk of new players signing up as their trials wears off. Oh and the frequent updates, patches and added contents delivered by Funcom can't be rivalled by many other mmo's. Apparently Funcom doesn't see AoC as a "sinking ship". |

Ah nevermind finaticd. He's rolling all over the internet with the same username spreading his hatred and bile on Age of Conan. It's almost like someone's paying him. I've seen him trolling on IGN, Gamespot, MMORPG and somewhere else I can't remember at the time. And that's only the places I've been frequenting myself, who knows where else he's "spreading his love". He even got himself banned for a period of time on Gamespot for continued lies and disinformation. Why do people make it their lifework to follow something they think is bad? It's a game for crying out loud. It's not a dangerous car, a religion that ruin lives, a dictator or something generally bad people need protection from. Like some pointed out it cost 20 bucks nowadays so it won't ruin anyone financially either. All I can think of is there's seriously a bunch of pathetic people out there in the world. Me for instance, I don't like pickles, but you don't see me trolling the web spreading lies and disinformation about it. I don't see the point in warning the world on how bad pickles is. |

POLL: They should first optimize the PC version before launching the xbox360!
General Discussion « Age of Conan 2/10/09 5:05:11 PM
Optimize? Optimize what? I get a gazillion fps in AoC now. It used to be unoptimized a few months ago, but seriously if AoC doesn't run good on your PC today you might consider upgrading it. Now if you were asking about end-game contents you would at least have something to discuss, although some might argue that AoC has more end-game content than many other rivalling MMO's. This game does not need any optimizing as it is. The dx10 version might do, but I couldn't tell as I haven't bothered tried it yet. |
