Is it just me or is the whole Legacy system is just a handfull of things that almost every other MMO already have but they have just group them all and called it a Legacy  "system". To call it "groundbreaking" is a little much.

Interesting, may just bring me back to LOTRO to check out....

If you think this is bad for the EU players, what about the Australia players (and other similar timezone areas), the patch started at 6PM on a Saturday here.

I can understand patching in supposedly low population times, but I didn’t expect this.

Same, just redirects to main page with no indication if votes where recorded or not.

My favourite part of the game has to be the housing, no one does it better. And offcourse playing the game is just plain fun, makes me feel young again :)

Interesting warning I get from my ISP when I go to the site:

Replace Asheron’s Call with Everquest and drop Star Wars Galaxies (a girl I was never interested in) and this could also be my story.

The only difference would be the ending, I’m back with my true love again – City of Heroes. No matter how often I leave her for someone else she knows that given time I’ll come running back to her again. She has everything I want, pretty, a good personality, not stuck-up like some and just the right type of popular. True she can seem to be a bit stagnate at time, but recently she has become much more adventurist and we are trying a lot of new things together.

If they included a dragon look, then I know at least one person that would be playing for life.

One of my friends first question when asked about moving to a new game is... "can I play a dragon!".

Naturally, her favourite game that she keeps going back to is Horizons.

I’m sure there would be many others that would try COX if they knew they could look like a dragon.

They should seriously thinking about doing a dragon pack next (could even limit it to a couple of power sets if need be).

If Bill enjoyed the combat and other factors enough to give it a rating of 8/10 then good for him and I won’t try and suggest that rating is wrong.

However, ironically the very things that Bill seemed to enjoy, the fast pace console style combat and controls and the PVP focus are the very things that keeps me away from the game.

For those that keep saying it's only $6.50, don't forget about non-US players. When I tried to order one I found that they wanted to charge over $20 for postage. There is no way postage can cost this much, we use similar “authenticators” for some systems at work and they are sent from the USA with a total postage charge of $1.50 (3 business days).

And before anyone mentions it, no I can’t use the free ones, as I don’t have a mobile phone (and I’m not buying one just to get the authenticator).

I thought about buying a authenticator when I resubscribed after over a year away. I found I had to create a battle.net account, which I did. Not a big deal I thought at the time, however before then I hadn’t receive any phishing emails about WoW, but the very next day after creating my battle.net account I started to receive them (about 2 or 3 a day for a while).

The decision to use battle.net and email addresses to log-in was a very stupid one.

It seems that at the moment all the developers seem to think MMOs all have to move in the same direction. Or at least that they all feel that they have to overhype upcoming games and market them towards what they think the younger generation of players want. Now, there is nothing wrong with that, business is business and you have to try and guess what the next generation of customers may want. I’m just not sure they (both the developers and the younger players themselves) really know what they want. A lot of younger players look forward to MMORPGs that are more like their current fast action console games, and there definitely should be some games that fit into that mould. But it would be a sad day when all the upcoming games are all like this and all the same, which seems to be where the current trend is heading.

Notice I mention the word hype, it’s because of the hype surrounding these games that is trying to encourage the type of player that I’m not that I doubt I’ll end up trying any of them. SWTOR and GW2 I may try after I hear from friends that play and if they like them it would help me get over my aversion to all the hype.

As there is no None of the Above option, it’s a tossup between SWTOR and GW2 and as SWTOR seems to be closer to the type of game I like I guess it gets the nod.

Considering all the junk on the screen (adds etc) it's always loaded pretty fast for me, much better then other simlair sites.

The only thing I would like to see changed is an option to always start on page 1 of a thread. I hate the way it always goes to the end of the thread and I then I have to go back to page one to start reading.

It took them over a week to get back to me when I had the same issue. I could remember my character first names, but none of their surnames.

And as it turned out, on the day before they got back to me one of my friends remembered one of the character names.

Like someone else that posted above, after all that I only ended up playing for about two hours...

Please use this thread to discuss account compromise issues. This can include phishing emails, account hack stories, scams, ETC. This is being done in an effort to consolidate the new posts being created daily on the same topic. Thanks.

Also, please remember our Rules of Conduct when posting.

i receive like 3 email every 2 or 3 day's about my account of wow, they always use a different kind of email and they try to get my password...what is strange is that i get those email only after i "resub" to the game for 1 month...

I stop playing WOW a couple of years back. I very rarely recieve any of these types of emails, let alone ones targetting WOW. However, about two months ago I started to play again and the day after I created my account on battle.net I started to recieve these emails. Since then I've been getting about two or three a day (99.9% of then targetting WoW).

As such it's obivous to me that there may be way for people to see what email address are been used to sign into battle.net. I still cannot see any reason why they changed to signing in using your email address. To me, all it did was removed one level of security.

Ohhh, and this quote from the article:

"What I’m really excited about is the next step. Imagine a game where monsters don’t drop silver, and training/repairing doesn’t cost anything. Instead all trade interactions are conducted using gold only. Type-2 players can buy gold with real money. There is a harvested “commodity” in the game that ALL players need, but it takes a while to accumulate. Type-1 players can auction their extra “commodity” to type-2 players in exchange for gold. This way, type-1 players can earn gold to buy their fancy mounts while type-2 players get the “commodity” they need without having to do the grind. Using this system, the only currency that exists in the game was bought using real money by type-2 players. At this point you have a real economy, with type-1 and type-2 players existing symbiotically. That would be awesome. Nolan Bushnell has been banging on about this for years."

Literally had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up after reading it. As an admitted F2P and Item store hater, but one who is at least trying to be openminded, this has me instantly feeling afraid of the mere thoughts of this model. I've yet to figure out why, just a gut reaction to it is way beyond negative. I seriously do not like the sounds of it at all, the strange thing ? I'm really not sure why.

This scares me as well, this is the last thing I would want to see. In the early MMORPGs you gain your rewards (gear) directly as part of playing the game and there was excitement when you did so. Now the trend seems to be more on playing the auction game to get upgrades on gear, something that I have no interest in at all. At least in most games I can still get my kicks getting upgrades the old way, with Justin's idea above this won't be a option. I play games to play the game, not to buy and sell ingame items (be it by ingame auction houses or otherwise). Maybe I'm just getting old but I can not see how I could enjoy any game using such a model (be it F2P or otherwise).

I had not received any such emails for a number of years.

I stopped playing WOW about three year’s ago, however about a week ago I decide to go back to it. I patched my copy (which took a good couple of hours). But when I went to log on it kept just saying Login Server down, I knew I had the right details as I had written them down.

Luckily, my brother still plays and he told me about the need for the battle.net account, so I go to the Blizzard site and create my battle.net account, link it to my wow account and everything worked ok.

However, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the very next day I received my first email like the above and since them I’ve been getting about one every two days. My guess is that there must be a way to extract email addresses from battle.net somehow, not what I would consider very secure.

A game like Everquest literally grabbed you by the balls or HotBox and pulled you in to all it's wonder and glory.. That game was the most addicting MMORPG I've ever played.. I'm an avid fantasy reader and logging into EQ for the first time was like picking up a new epic fantasy series for the first time.. I loved every moment of it.. After getting home from work, I'd take a shower, eat some dinner, and escape from reality for at least a few hours during work days.. On weekends, I'd devote one entire day to EQ.. Friday nights were usually party like a rockstar drunken night of fun, which meant Saturdays was my stay at home while sobering up EQ day... I'd devote the latter half of Sunday to EQ and the first half I'd hang out with friends and relax.

....

Oh by the way, MMORPG.COM Mods, this is not a flame post since I'm not directing this post to anyone in particular, you can't WARN me for flaming since I'm not talking to anyone in particular... I'm just making a true statement and can't be warned for speaking freely!  I get sick of being warned for flaming when I'm just speaking my mind.

I'm not sure why you think anyone would take your post as a flame. What you said seems very logical to me and is simliar to how I feel.

Somehow I feel that this game will be better than both Champions Online and DC Universe Online.

Good news for the kids, bummer for the non-kids.

Scary enough, I had the exact same thought as soon as I read the article.

It would most likely be more fun then both of them also; sometimes the kid’s games can surprise you if you take the time to play them for a little while. Take Wizards101 as an example, it actually kept me interested for a number of weeks.

What I found interesting in the list was that DAOC was still quite high on in. Considering all the games that have since came out that is quite an achievement.

In regards to the F2P and subscriptions models, although the percentage of F2P players in the survey may be on the rise when you look at the list you will notice that in number of games on it is still heavily dominated by subscription games. Until the overall quality of F2P games come up to the standard of the subscription based ones this is unlikely to change.

The comment "The current favored payment model is that of a lifetime subscription -- 22% named that as their favorite" is interesting as I think there are two games on the list that currently offer lifetime subscriptions (LOTRO and CO). Hopefully more games will start looking at this model also, even the existing ones.

I haven’t played for a couple of years but was going to resub when the expansion came out. But now I'm not sure as I keep hearing about all these changes to classes to balance the game. And how some classes are been change quite a bit for the sole purpose to balance PvP, even to the point that you can’t play them the way most people use to (for example the changes to Hunter's tanking pets etc).

I'm sure that these changes will be good news for many players, but me, I rarely PvP and like playing different classes that have completely different feels and play styles. If what I read and what some of my friends say is true (and I have no way of knowing if it will be or not) if I go back I will not like the changes that have made or are schedule to be made.

So I guess that's a No for me, but maybe I'll get bored enough with other games to just try it again at some point.
