I'd be really dissappointed if this game was free to play as the quality of the game would suffer. When you think about the amount of new free content that gets added to MMOs , the constant team of developers they have in the company to produce the content and maintain whats already there plus what it costs to run all the servers and support staff, €12 a month isn't much to pay for everything you get. As it's been pointed out already, I could waste €12 without even trying, a magazine and a sandwich in a shop costs the same price... As far as entertainment goes, if you like playing MMOs then paying a sub isn't going to break the bank.

Tabula Rasa: Review Part One - Levels 1 - 25
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/06/07 11:17:55 AM
Nice review Taera, I think you were pretty much spot on with the good and bad points of the game that you mentioned. The instances are fun but as you said some of them could do a better job of filling you in on the lore of the game and personally I find the bosses are pretty weak and I sometimes find that we've killed a boss in a crowd of bane and not even realised he was there. They also don't seem to drop any higher grade loot than the standard which is disappointing, as it's always nice to get a new shiny something for taking down a boss. I would definately recommend you go back and go through Treeback Camp again with a full group(even though you say your a stubborn soloist) as it's my favourite instance action wise. I did it with 5 others in a group and had a blast carpet bombing the enormous waves of bane that came at us in the battlefield in the centre of the map. The final battle against an army of bane backed up by lots of caretakers was great fun too. Eloh Vale was my favourite from a storytelling point of view though. |

MASSIVE Friday Update 30/11/07 Clan of Conan #12 (Mounted Combat, New Area, Video)

Really nice update. The video of the Sanctum of Burning Souls looks great, rivers of blood and badass demons. I can't wait to go there and see everything when it releases! |

Lol, I didn't realise TR had started out a different game and was completely redone half way through development. The combat looked like something from mortal combat with all those martial arts moves and spinning around the place. |

Originally posted by Loben Rofl, you put about as much useful information in that as he did in his "review". Oglem you might want to consider levelling your character past 13 before you write a review on the game or at least call it a work in progress and that your opinion of the game may not reflect reality as you haven't played it enough to cover everything. The game definately has flaws and it definately has good points but you really failed to give a useful review of the game from either side of the coin. It's always good to read someones honest opinion of what they think but don't write about things you don't understand.

I really like the voiceovers they have in a lot of quests since release. It's a nice touch and I never find myself recognising the actors voice from a different quest so it doesn't feel like some generic monologue. |

The big thing that makes me not feel like I'm grinding for XP is the combat system. Sometimes on my way to a quest and I get caught up in having fun killing stuff and I end up forgetting what I was supposed to be doing in the first place. When killing stuff is fun it just doesnt feel like grinding anymore. No one complains that you have to kill X number of monsters or whatever in an fps because well that's the whole point of the game, I get the same feeling when I play TR. |

It's not quite a great game at the moment but when the new content is added I think it could be. I just wish they had delayed the release until they added more so they could make a bigger impact on launch. With more pvp content, vehicles, new crafting system / economy and some tweaks and balancing it could really make a dent on the mmo market. Looking forward to seeing how the reviewers rate it when full reviews have been published. At the moment I think it's definately a fun game to play. I hope I feel the same next month. |

Originally posted by DeathMutant3 I was wondering about how the need/greed works myself as I've seen "rolls on Greed" without having been asked if I wanted to roll need or greed. Maybe loot is auto needed or greeded depending on whether its usable by use class/crafting skill... |

Will this game get's me hooked for some time?
General Discussion « Tabula Rasa 11/07/07 7:13:54 AM
From the things you've said you're looking for in a game I'm not sure this one would suit you. There isn't really much exploring or adventuring in the game. The pvp is currently a bit limited being only clan vs clan and squad vs squad but due for an update adding more content in the coming months. It seems to be a game aimed at the casual player and theres no problem jumping in for a short period of time if that's the way you like to play. The community is friendly at least on the eu server(haven't played on US) and theres a good sense of fighting alongside your fellow afs on the battlefield as people always help with kills due to XP/loot being given on a dmg done basis rather than tagging. Although there are no real central hubs at the moment because of the lack of an auction house and no economy in the game so I have yet to see people just hanging around chatting in outposts. From what you've said , you're looking for a game to keep you hooked until AoC comes out in March which is what I'm doing. It's a game for fast fun action with a different and fun approach to the combat system. I think it should keep me going for the new few months, especially when the new pvp content comes. It was only €35 in my local store too which isn't bad for a months play on an mmo to see if you'll like it.

Personally I think the combat system will make PVP in TR great fun. At the moment it's lacking because there isn't enough options but in future updates it will get a lot of improvements.

Thank You Letter from Richard + Upcoming Updates
General Discussion « Tabula Rasa 10/25/07 8:04:38 PM
The elder content update that he's talking about is what imo will make TR a really good game. The updates to the PVP system will include clan control points that can be fought over clan vs clan and each class gets a different PAU which can be used in combat and will have different weapons and abilities. I have seen some real improvements in the beta over the last few weeks and I wish they had delayed the release by a few months to include this content and finish polishing the game. It may make all the difference in the impact the game makes on release. I'm not sure I agree with their policy of Stable, Fast, Fun, surely Stable, Fun, Fast would be better... |

Thats what it says on their website so I guess MMORPG.com have to go with that release date until they devs say otherwise. |

I like the change myself. I was torn between Lotus Master and defiler , now I have both all rolled into an assasin :)
None of the talents of skills were lost with this change so anyone who liked a particular class can still play that class but with more diversity. I think there is enough class choice on offer with the 14 that are there. |

The video interview at that link was nice too. Shows a better representation of some of the combat in there than the DX10 vid i think.

Originally posted by Jackcolt That's what i cant wait to see. I really hope they pull it off, pvp combat is going to be so much more fun. Also they promise more story driven quests which i really hope happens rather than grinding mobs for quest items that take forever to drop. |
