Fallen Earth was/is a theme park game with fps combat. It already had established recovering societies where you talk to npcs and use as quest hubs to level up while killing mobs. In Xsyon you will start with a world without any buildings or communities, these will be created by the players tribal areas when they terraform the land, build roads and other structures to form the world. Both games are similar in that they are set in real world Apocalyptic societies but the feel is a bit different as there are no zombies etc or mutated animals in Xsyon as of yet. Just real world animals so far... |

The game has the most promise I have seen in an mmo, unfortunately what lets it down right now is the combat but some changes are due before prelude which will hopefully make combat more interesting. Also further changes are planned after prelude to attempt to make combat similar to mount and blade. I think it's worth playing it from the start of prelude just to be involved with building your tribes village with them and watching the world grow and change if you like sandbox games and you are willing to be patient to watch the game grow into it's full potential. It will definately take time to get there though so I wouldn't buy the game expecting instant gratification. |

Darkfall: Survivor Guy: Darkfall Edition
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/15/10 7:52:45 PM
As others have said. Take five minutes and use screens of the game rather than using random screens that were published during the games development. Why exactly do you think you were standing around and clicking? Is that how you would describe playing call of duty or some other fps aswell? It's fps combat, you will have to click the mouse button to attack, yes. ^^ Stand around.. no. |

Those are planned behaviours. At the moment it's just text. I have seen lots of mmos which could describe amazing things in text but the reality was much different. A gameplay video of these creatures in action would have been threadworthy, more lame screenshots isn't. |

You need to get used to how it looks. When I first logged in to the game at release I thought the same but after a while of playing you get used to the style. The world graphics are absolutely stunning, if you go explore the world you will be blown away by the different things you discover and by the sky and sunsets. |

What the hell happened to Chronicles of Spellborn?
General Discussion « The Chronicles of Spellborn 7/23/10 9:19:03 AM
The game had a lot of good things, it's a pity it failed before it ever took off. They had some odd launch with only certain countries in europe allowed participate and when the smoke cleared it already had very little people playing. Combat was fun though and I really liked the art style. It was zoned with loading screens and the quests were really boring however... |

I just wish I was never dumb enough to pay 70euros for a game that wasn't even released yet. I mean why didn't alarm bells start ringing when they were asking for cash upfront for a preorder?? It's my own dumb fault to fall for their stupid presentation of lies and their "actual in game footage" video of the two guys in the cave with the dragon(where is any part of that video in game by the way???). The dissappointment of the box with a useless cd and nothing else for my money and now also the fact that they decided to begin the trial period from launch and also enable the auto subscription option on my account makes the whole thing feel like a big scam. I will know better in future... |

Is Darkfall Worth It (last one of these I promise)?
General Discussion « Darkfall 5/30/10 9:11:15 PM
Wait until the trial is open again, it should be coming within a few weeks and try it for yourself then. In the meantime you can give the Eve free trial a go and see if you like it. I tried the Eve trial a couple of times but didn't get into the game, I might try it again in the future but I find it hard to get into the game when your avatar is a ship rather than a person. There are plans to make it easier for new starters also so you should have an easier time getting started in the game after the expansions this year. |

You should try Darkfall OP! The PvE doesn't revolve around questing so no need for your KTR quests or fedex quests. No Levels No Classes No oversized weapons and armor, just realistic looking stuff People use voicecomms instead of chatboxes to communicate Ok.. it does have elves but 4 out of 5 isn't bad eh. :P |

I like this game a lot, its great fun. It's like a mish mash of different fps games I have played with jetpacks and it really works. The classes are basically the same as TF2 along with the customisation you get in COD where as you level you gain access to more weapons and offhands. I played a number of different classes and they all seem fun. You don't need to bother with the what seems to be boring PvE and you can just do the PvP to level up and earn credits. It kept me interested for 10 hours straight yesterday in beta and I had as much fun as when I first got my hands on TF2 or Modern Warfare.
I hate instances in mmos with a passion, I play Darkfall as my MMO for that reason among others. There's no world, no sense of being a part of the game when it's heavily instanced. This game is one tiny lobby where you queue up for different pvp instances. The reason I don't hate this game is I don't consider it an mmo, I consider it an fps game. I can play it without sub or I can choose to pay a sub if I want some of the extras. I don't mind paying a sub for an fps game either if it means regular updates , improvements and support that you get in a typical mmo. That's basically what we pay a subscription for an mmo anyway so they can pay the dev teams to continue development, why are mmos the only ones who get a piece of that pie and not fps also?
The problem is they advertise the game as an mmo so they can justify the subscription to a group of gamers who are used to getting their fps games for free. The mmo gamers who haven't really read into what the game is about and come from games like wow etc will instantly expect wow with guns and fps combat. That's not what they are going to get, what they get an fps game with combat on par with TF2 and a lobby that allows gamers to meet and group up and form clans more easily aswell as a map(global conquest) instead of a pvp leaderboard. |

Yeah I don't get it either. It was all pretty clear to me exactly what the game was going to be. An fps game with classes and levels with a central hub to do the instances with friends. There's no sub unless you want to do AvA so what's the difference between buying this and any fps game? I don't consider this game an mmo but it's a fun fps game. |

If it's being made by cryptic who made City of Heroes/Villains and Champions Online then the game will be developed towards pve with the pvp tacked on afterwards as an after thought. Also you can be sure there will be instances and zones and story based missions with cut scenes will be the bread and butter of the game. You can also be pretty sure that after you level up to max there will be nothing to do until they release an expansion. If you like that kind of thing then have fun, it's not for me though despite how appealing playing an MMO with the Star Trek IP is. If it had been a huge non instanced world with open world pvp and trading as a focus then it would have been great. It's a waste of a good IP... You could have definately made open world pvp a focus of the game, just set the timeline in some year that hasn't already been covered in the series when war has broken out between different alliances and there you have you justification. |

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures: Looking at Rise of the Godslayer, Part 1
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/10/09 10:40:34 PM
I played AoC for a year and the real game breaker for me at that time was the teleporting around from zone to zone with no one travelling the world to promote real world pvp aswell as the closed in feeling of the zones in the game. It's great to see that they have listened to people on that and are making changes to hide the fact that the world is split into zones. It's too late for me as I have moved to Darkfall and am never leaving it. :P
But I wish the game well, I hope it becomes a success. |

Darkfall: Conquer the Seas Expansion Q&A
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/28/09 11:58:52 AM
I've played the game non stop since release and I am still discovering new parts of the world that I have never seen and are no where else in Agon. Great to see the best game(not just mmo) that I have ever played getting even better than it already is.

If you want MMOFPS, play Darkfall. Best game I have ever played by a long shot. |

I think I'm about to crack and buy DFO ... HELP!
General Discussion « Darkfall 11/09/09 2:28:33 PM
First thing you should do in Darkfall is join a good clan. It's not like other mmos where you find your feet for a bit and learn the game before you make a choice on the clan you join. You will need the support of your clan to learn how to play the game and for them to support you if you are having a tough time with PvP. If you are on NA server a clan called NEW is designed for new players to spend their first month in their player city and learn the game together before moving on to another clan.
