I've been anticipating another vet trial coming up so I've been checking my account for the last week or so. Seems my account is "pending" this morning.

It's almost like clockwork. Even if I liked the game why would I pay for it when I can get it for free every 3 months?

On your game account screen, scroll over the '?' where it says 'pending'.

On mine it says 'pending' means 'subscription time is temporary, and will be closed once all stacked time is used up' or something to that effect, which for me, says '40days non-recurring'.

Yeah, I tried that but I don't get the "40 days" part.

I'll check it out tonight from home once I log in.

One of the issues most players had with pre-CU SWG were buffs. You could essentially inflate your health, action, and mind bars (as well as all secondary stats) to the point that it negated the elegance of the combat system and encumberance system.

If one were to play pre-CU SWG without buffs the game took on an incredible dynamic that I've not seen in any other game.

No attempt was every made to address that issue even though players raised it time and time again.

I actually really enjoyed the buffing system. It made death in pvp somewhat matter

Don't get me wrong, I kinda liked buffs to.

But again, it negated the combat system. The forums were filled with good ideas on how to address it in a meaningful way that was accpetable to everyone but as usual all ideas were ignored.  :(

40 days seems a bit much for me, but it's not unheard of. EQ2 offered something along those lines late last year.

I'll have to check my account when I get home from work this evening, but If it is 40 days I'll lmao.

I don't necassarily disagree with you, I just think they should work through the minor solutions first, such as this new LFG system, rather then breaking out the sledge hammer to begin with.

Personally, I think they should temporarily disallow new characters to be made on the top populated servers and prevent any transfers from going to them also.  Oddly, they have the Recommended tag on these top populated servers rather then the lower populated ones, which is why they're not getting alot of new players on them.

They've had 2 1/2 years to "work through the minor solutions". Isn't it time for bigger, more meaningful solutions?

I say bring forth the sledge hammers and get the job done.

First picture I see is of Jar Jar - and that doesn't fill me with a lot of confidenece.

If your self confidence is low there is a lot of things you can do,

http://www.mindtools.com/selfconf.html

A mere google search turned this up.

On topic - however.

Thanks for the responses, It's great to meet the dev team.

Since you're having difficulty understanding let me be a little more clear for you. The first 2 pictures taken at that office are of 2 things that have no connection with  ANH - the time period in which this game is set in.

This should speak clearly to people that this game lacks continuity, therefore cheapening the experience one should expect from a Star Wars title.

Serioulsy, what's next? The Death Star didn't really blow up but just cloaked?

Stop giving them ideas.

lol I was just thinking I should register that idea before they loot it from me :)

Not having another SW MMO would be an awful waste of an IP IMO.

A Star Wars MMO should be pulling in at least 500K subs IMO, and to not have one available would be a rather foolish thing for LA not to jump at. My guess is if Bioware isn't doing it then we'll get an announcement in about a year of a new one starting development.

But the one thing I've noticed is that there seems to be quite a bit of "news" items about SWG recently. It almost feels like SoE are preparing for something by attemtping to keep the SWG name in the spotlight. Could it be a possible threat from AoC? Or could they be anticipating something else coming up shortly?

Something just feels kind of desperate about the Hoth announcement to me, so I think the next few months may be interesting to watch.

I don't want any particular game back.  I got over losing the online community experience that was SWG some time ago in fact.  So, what have I moved on to?  Doing something about EULAs in general or how they are applied to MMO development.

SWG provides an excellent example of just how far a company will stretch a EULA to justify outrageous decisions and actions.

In my mind, either EULAs like SOE's need to change (no matter what game they are for), or the way they are interpreted and applied needs to be much better defined and possibly regulated.

There is a collaborative effort ongoing to develop more "user" friendly EULAs.  I'd love to be a part of that solution.  In this thread, however, I'm highlighting a problem that badly needs to be addressed.

And, as some people have noticed, I chose satire as a vehicle for making my point :).

I totally agree Arc, and support this 100%.

And I for one particularily appreciate humor to make your point.

Good job!

There's a big difference between being a "hater" and being realistic.

What I'm reading here sounds like it's going to be a let down for many people. And I have a funny feeling they'll throw in some character that has no connection to Hoth as well - like Lando, or someone's ghost.

And at this point if they're going to make an instance they'd be much better off making Bespin IMO. Use Hoth in a more meaningful way - like an entire world to explore.

I've only received the email once out of all of the trials, but they've always gotten me into the trial, sometimes for longer than the usual 21 days. (I bitched about not being able to log in on the last trial, the one where I actually got the email, and they gave me a month free for my hassles. I know, it's crazy having a SOE rep actually displaying GOOD customer service, but it did happen I swear).

If I had to guess I'd say it's because you're a potential subscriber. That seems to carry more weight then actually paying for it IMO. That's not just a complaint about SoE BTW, but rather most industries seem to care less about customer retention than adding new customers.

True or not, doesn't mean they're automatically going to target those pre-nge vets with every trial. I'm not saying every trial is never targeted at those vets, I think the vet trials insipred by Chapters (such as the recent Chapter 8 one) are targeted to all ex-players of the game.

The trials that are inspired by profession updates, such as those when they were working on the expertise and the inevitable one coming after this Jedi update, to me seem more targeted at those that have previously played those professions before the update.

Quite frankly I doubt they're targetting a "type" of ex-subscriber.

I'm sure their intent is to appeal to a "much broader audience", and that means all vets.

With them making big changes to the Jedi profession, I would expect another one in the next few weeks.

Yes, they do seem to offer the trials in conjunction with some change that does not address why they lost so many players nearly two and a half years ago.

They're under the delusion that these pretty minor changes will somehow make up for what they did to cause their playerbase to vanish.

In the case of those trials, I don't think they're trying to appeal to those that left pre-nge, but if they do it's a bonus.

Then who else are they trying to appeal to?

Those that have been playing those professions since the NGE and then left before the profession update.  A Vet doesn't necessarily have to be someone from pre-nge.

You mean people that left because the game was incomplete?

The more you lot moan about NGE being shit the More you waste your life. SWG Player Base is also fine, its got the right amount of people so you dont lag out and still enough for some good pvp.

Not everyone shares the same opinion so the chance of a game being awesome is Very Slim.

No matter how hard people want to forget pre-NGE, SWG will always be compared to it's past versions. And it's not even people that don't play it anymore. Look to your official forums to see that.

Notice how people say SWG is getting better after they re-introduce things from pre-NGE? If you want SWG to continue to get better you have to look at it's past.

Sure in pre-cu you could be a artisan/scout/dancer if you wanted to but why?

Because it was fun. I quite enjoyed being a Artisan/Musician/Pistolleer/Scout/crafting Medic, with a few boxes in Sense and Crafting Force skills.

I think master artisan may have been my favorite crafting profession. I loved being able to craft some great foods/drinks, weapon power-ups, etc. Scout was pretty awsome for the terrain negotiation and harvesting, and dancer wasn't really my thing but having to visit one was pretty cool IMO.

Being able to mix and match all those abilites made for a dynamic profession system that allowed you to find what worked best for your playstyle. It was brillant IMO.

I currently have a master architect, So i am the guy that supply my guild :D , Currently loveing it.

Yeah, but it sure was pretty cool when you could have been an architect AND say a pistoleer. Myself, I prefered master artisan/master architect, with a little combat thrown in - like some rifle skills in the marksman tree.
