Originally posted by MikeMB No, I wouldn't go to a weekend summit right now. I wouldn't go at anytime TBH, it's just not my cup of tea. But I have driven several hours to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice (once was to see the John Lennon exhibit - it was awsome!), and I would go again this summer but I'm personally boycotting it cause I don't think REM or Maddona should be in it when KISS is not. But I digress. My point wasn't to claim that SWG is dieing as I actually think there are probably slightly more people playing at the moment then there was in '06. My point has always been that when SWG was made to be an "easy to jump into" game the result was also an easy to jump out of game. In other words I think they lost the passion that the game foster in it's original form. I believe we're starting to see that reflected in the turn out for these summits. From my own personal experience I found that when SWG was in it's earliest form it encouraged strong social ties with other players. That translated into a desire to meet those other players in person. Without that strong social development in game the desire to meet those people in person decreases IMO. |

Originally posted by Obraik Well that is my point Obriak. You cannot say what the capacity of the event was, so saying it's fully booked doesn't mean anything. The event may have only been set for a capacity of 50 people, so a fully booked event doesn't mean much does it? However, saying it is fully booked sounds like you're trying to imply that it was a massive success - which judging from the pictures seems to be in complete contrast. |

Originally posted by Obraik Regardless of the accusations being thrown around about who is or who isn't a paid employee of SoE your original comment here was regarding the full booking of this event. Do you not see how these pictures inply a poor showing regardless of the full booking - and what was the capacity for that booking anyway? Your comment appeared to be very misleading IMO as you never awknowledged the capacity nor had you awknowledged the lack of people in those pictures - expecially compared to past events. |

Maybe they could get some of the paid shills to show up as "attendees" ;) |

I've had busier Tuesday nights hanging out at a coffee shop with friends. Next year it'll probably be held in the back of a van in the SoE parking lot :P |

Originally posted by Torak Sadly this is true.... But developrers need to focus on the ncihe crowd, and if the game is any good it'll expand beyond that IMO. |

I'm shocked no one yet has copied the entire resource/crafting system of SWG. That IMO has been one of the really outstanding aspects of SWG. |

I'm just speculating as much as anyone else, so I suppose if I am right then I'll have even more explaining to do? :) |

Originally posted by Bob_Blawblaw I completely agree as this was exactly what I was thinking too. Who knows, maybe the whole Agency thing is a red herring and in fact it'll be a SW micro-transaction based game :P |

Rollotamasi makes a good point, it can seem that it's more of an anti-SoE thing. But for me specifically I'm just as cautious with Funcom as I am with SoE when it comes to their interests in RMT's. However it is SoE that wants the fame of bringing RMT's to the west, and given my past experiences in regards to questionable ethics with SoE I tend to think more about the possible methods of exploitation then I would have with another company. Essentially SoE has opened my eyes and gave me reason to pause and think about these things. Just as Smed has claimed he's learned from SWG's past so have I. |
