Customer support cracks me up!!
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 4/22/07 1:34:32 PM
Originally posted by KariTRYeah sorta do, I have a masters in CIS and work as a senior admin for the city.. So I have a little experience lol. Point was that the game (which is plagued with major bugs) worked fine for the customer before now doesn't because of a patch. But the reason for the post is the way the TSR's take care of problems over there. This was just one example. There are many more if you head over there and take a look for youself vanboy. What cracks me up is that I have all the latest gear. In fact I built this machine for this game! 8800 gtx Sound Blaster Audigy core 2 x6800 4 gigs Corsair XMS2-9136 1.2 gig Asus Striker Extreme I can't run the game for crap either vanboy. In fact there is an entire thread over there of peeps with the 8800gtx that are having the same problems. Should I go out and buy older hardware to solve the problem? LMAO!!! Vanboys crack me up! The thing that I find very amusing is this MMO is based off of the unreal engine. So are alot of games like hmm Lineage II is based off the same engine as well. Instead of reinventing the wheel they should've just bought it from NC Soft. At least NC soft can make it work in an MMO enviroment. Hell even hobbiest make it work with the Emu's out there. Fact is this game is going down in flames because they didn't manage their money right or their time. Instead they really, really thought the public was going to pay for beta. I think after SWG, Dark & light nobody wants to pay for beta anymore. Bad business model in a time when so many MMO's are comming out. And worse customer service |

Customer support cracks me up!!
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 4/22/07 12:54:34 AM
Was thinking of playing the game again so I headed off to the Vanguard forums to see what has improved as far as performance. Started to read all the poor saps trying to figure out what is wrong with their machine lol !! Cause according to the Vanboys if you have problems running the game then your system sux and you should go back to playing WOW...
Then I ran across these guys--- TSR-GarethC and TSR-JasonC, I started rolling after reading what they says to customers. Thought you would get a kick out of this : Subject: Crashing to desktop since today's patch Zozimus wrote: I turned off the sound, and lo, managed to play for an hour without a crash. Maybe I just got lucky, maybe I'm daring to go further from Khal now I'm not getting killed in game having been thrown to windows.. but yes.. turning off sound appears to have eliminated the crashes. Dune wrote: Same issue, got an SB live as well, and my SB live is several lightyears better soundwise than what is onboard on my Asus MB. Gonna switch to the OB sound again and see if that fixes it for now. However, a fix would be appreciated. TSR-GarethC wrote: The issue is that Creative has not released newer drivers for your antiquated hardware; Zozimus wrote: Yes, but it worked up until yesterday's patch. Can't you put the old sound back in as a 'legacy mode' or something? LOL!!!!!! TSR-JasonC This has been reported to Quality Assurance for tracking. Unfortunately, I don't have any idea of if/when the issue will be resolved. In the meantime, you may want to investigate upgrading to a "value" SoundBlaster Audigy or similar audio device to work around this issue. ROFLAO!! So let's take a look at this: The devs put in a patch that is causing alot problems for people. Before the patch these people's computer worked with the game fine. So I guess when the Devs put in new patches that don't work with your comp your supposed to go out and buy new stuff to "see" if that fixes it! Needless to say I didn't resub lol but man those forums are hilarious |

General: Casual Play Casual PvP Has Some Kinks
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/05/07 10:26:04 PM
I feel the article has a good point. Even in RL the hardcore always wins out at work.
I consider myself a "casual" worker and only like to actually work a couple hours a day or week. Problem is the others around me are always working, grinding so I get left behind in pay and advancement. It really seems to affect my RL at home since I can't afford to buy the uber gear like hourses, clothes and cars. It just sucks how the "hardcore" seem to win out and it's completely unfair. Why should society give them all the breaks when some of us like to stay at home and watch TV or roam around town.? Sorry about spelling errors just too tired from my nap to proof read. |

My Goodbye, and I really wanted to like Vanguard - Honest Opinions
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 3/18/07 9:40:46 AM
Originally posted by AgtSmithQFE I really wanted to like this game. Was hoping it would be the next big one for me to dive into and play for years. Played since Beta 4 and have been disapointed ever since. Went out and built a new comp for this as well using the best stuff avail. Still shuttered and whatnot so I thought it was the hard drive so bought a 10k rpm... nope still shutters. Thought it was the internet modem (it was old anyway) nope. Fact is I really wanted to like this game. Hell I spent 2700 building a comp to play it. I'm not sure what's going on with the game's engine or maybe the drivers for the 8800GTX but I can't get the game to run smooth. The other bugs and the fact it wasn't done before release is just Sony's way of doing stuff. They did it with SWG and look how wonderful of a game that is. Smed will never learn and neither will SOE. It's just the way it is. This Brad guy is also an asshat. The guy couldn't get it together with EQ1 either and Sony had to bail their asses out of debt on that one too. |

General: Casual Play: World vs. Game Part 2
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/22/07 10:10:45 PM
SWG failed cause of bugs, lack of vision on the dev's part, lack of content, SOE, LA, constant grind, nerf's, bad customer service, listening to crybaby customers, Jedi, basically one of the worst teams to put a game together in MMO history. Played it for 3 years and have to say the only reason i log in is I have a couple of friends there. Fact is most players of SWG could've made a better game

Basically it comes down to this. It doesn't matter if this game is gonna be owned by sony or not. Overall the game is good and will get better as time goes on. It will end up much like EQ2 overall. I say that becuase not too many are gonna have the comp to fully enjoy the game and overall it much the same type of MMO. |

Actually, Sigil created the game, Microsoft was supposed to be the publisher. It was to be the big title for Xbox and Vista. When it was realized the game could not be run on Xbox and may not be ready for Vista Microsoft quit. Sigil went to SOE for support just like they did before with EQ1. I know I beta tested that too. Sigil ran out of money so SOE gave them more money and some peeps from EQ2 for art and whatnot. This helped but it wasn't good enough so SOE gave them 12 Devs from the EQ2 team for the last two weeks so the game would be almost ready for Retail. Truth Sigil owes SOE a ton of money and other investors. Just like EQ1 SOE will make them a deal and take it over in a matter of a couple of months. The new SOE forums will have a vanguard area. |

what u think of people playing opposite sex in a mmorpgs?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/17/07 10:39:05 PM
I think most guys use the excuse that they would rather be looking at a females behind instead of a guys. However I've seen them also make female orcs and goblins as well so I've come to the conclusion that most he/she's in game are prolly on the verge of becomming bone smugglers in RL

Words from the devs
"We all agree performance is #1 -- we expect to see about a 10% improvement by launch for low-mid level machines. There's only so much we can do in the time we have. We don't want to rush things but like I said we have a solid launch date. People are crunching and working long hours but the financial reality is we need to lauch commercially, and soon." http://forums.vanguardsoh.com/showthread.php?p=1850125#post1850125 Which means.. its coming out fast and it will be bug ridden. "At this point one house. When we later implement player run cities and different types of buildings (commercial, industrial, residential) that will likely change" http://forums.vanguardsoh.com/showthread.php?p=1848795#post1848795 Which means no player run cities at startup.. and only a single house. "Realistically you'll see about a 10% improvement in opmtimizations by launch" http://forums.vanguardsoh.com/showthread.php?p=1847699#post1847699 Don't need to explain that one do I? "Smed has done EVERYTHING possible to give us as much time and money and support that he can. The reality is that SOE is under Sony Pictures and there are financial realities and the game must be released and go commercial at some point, and it is soon (we'll be announcing the launch date in the next week or so)." http://forums.vanguardsoh.com/showthread.php?p=1847663#post1847663 SOE isn't giving them more money, they want it launched now. "Flying mounts will be very hard to get and require you to be high level" http://forums.vanguardsoh.com/showthread.php?p=1838760#post1838760 Like walking? You better. You'll be doing it for a while. And theres the forum summary from the head of Vanguard's Sigil team. |

Well finally a fun day in Vanguard.. almost
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 1/14/07 1:22:42 AM
Lately they have been hard at work patching the game and it shows. The servers are allot more stable and fewer bugs than a couple of weeks ago. Buddy and me had a blast all day doing missions and leveling up. It was a very nice pace then the patch from hell hit. Call it the Lineage II patch cause the grind just got a hell of allot slower. I understand the pace was a little fast before but now it took 7 hours to get 1/4 of a level for our level 15 toons.
The reason for this is cause the missions we had gotten before are now too low to get any real xp off of. The devs in the patch notes said they needed to change the curve and to get good xp you need to take on stuff that is 1 to 2 lvl's above you "Good Luck!!" <-- actual quote. Problem is that many of the NPC's are out of spec for their lvl so a NPC that is 2 lvl's lower than you can beat the tar out of you. If you die you lose xp if you get a rez and not just a little either. But overall we did have a great deal of fun until the patch hit. Don't know of many that will like the grind the way it is now. Also the quests don't give the player any idea if they will give xp or not so you could spend an hour or more just waiting time. The did put in some waypoints but TBH it's very lack luster at that and many of them don't show up. The whole waypoint system needs to be improved. If they continue with the amount of work they have done in the last week and quickly fix the stupid xp system they just put in then this game might be ready in a couple of months. Still allot of missing graphics and bugs and some quests that just are not done. If you thinking of playing the game plz try it out you may like it or ... not /shrug Be warned there are many asshats shouting and acting the fool in the game. You can make a new chat tab to ignore it |

No played SWG and it's taken 3 1/2 years to finish. Just guessing by experience fool.

I would suggest trying this game before you buy it. The fact is this game is nowhere near finished enough for retail but check it out for yourself.
I've been playing beta for some time with friend and we were hoping that it would be a great game but it isn't. Currently this game is about 6 months if not more from being finished. You have a choice of Beta testing it now for free or Beta testing it while you pay. Graphics are great if you have a machine that can handle them Gameplay is the same that you would find in most MMO's Sound is good Like most MMO's this is a grinder once you reach lvl 8+ Like some MMO's you'll need a group to lvl up Animations are very bad Most of the game is not finished and not put in PVP is nowhere complete which usually means, nerf's later on. Lack of Official Documentation means the Dev's don't really have much of a direction SOE lack of support and support that is coming in from the Devs means if problems do happen it will take them awhile to address. Try it out for yourself to see if I'm lying that's the best you can do. |
