worst move for me was -making mobs tougher = gameplay slower (they should have just upped the damageoutput of mobs_*make it a fast deadly gore feast!!) I do hate to beat a *lousy -reen-hill-wolf* 12+ times with my deadlyswordofreaping to beat it, its just not realistic and boring. TR was new there but changed it back to slow pace - And changing the outposts from *important* to hold , to worthless was also meeeeh My two big brakingpoints together with the ongoing massiv changing of classes by the devs. That just showed they didnt have a true goal but just trying around what works :( |

Im pretty sorry i have to agree with the OP. the Graphics and sounds are top and some cool Char customation WOOT! The animations arrrr okay. Lots of different looking Items and clothing to fool around with. but evil Loadingtimes.. up to +2 minutes freezes every now and then, im pretty sure thats the debugger. zoning , instancing, invisible walls. For me this dosen´t feel like a world, like WOW, Vanguard or Lotro, even less then EQ2. It has to much of a guildwars taste. Thats why i wont play it. I also believe it will go gold very unpolished. even if some people here still believe in the *miracle patch* or *miracle build* maybe they dont remember D&L, Vanguard, Horizons, TR, Potbs... or cant read obvious signs ^^

and etc etc
nobody wants to invest lots of time for a mmo game which fortune is uncertain. please spare me the *the journey is what counts* comments ..its part true but if you think so, go hiking or play one of those great singleplayer rpgs. some great out there with more imersion then any mmorpg. And thats why gamers check the server loads. We just dont wanna put time into a game which lives on livesupport waiting for more players to come

aha
good i smelled this and left soon enough ((also at lvl 30)) One of the unique feel of TR WAS that i dont have to hack/shoot mobs minutes like in other mmorpgs. Hit, kill, run, dodge, hide, recover etc.. theý die or me..but all within seconds, all in a fast pace. Grouping for instances was great, but i had the option to go alone carefully and dont have to care when i need a bio or the tele rings. In my eyes this was a bad desicion. But you could sense it, the changes in TR are not like minor balances after beta testing, its more like alpha testing..Devs went:*Lets try this,,er no kay lets try that..erm no* and so on just the right way to drive away your players if they dont stop this major changes

Also went back to try DDO again, im on Khyber now and i enjoy it very much. Maybe cause i played lots of NWN online, or im more into Dungeon crawling but mob grinding. Still lots to learn even for a DnD vet

The main aspect of the game is great fun beside that theres not much to do right now and the devs are fixing classes and gameplay with the crowbar method. -Graphics are good -Gameplay is big fun and fast -clone system is nice -Quests are funny to read -Dungeons/instances are well made -Chaingunning is tah fun ^^ -Grenadiers are the true Rambos you spy and guardian scum
well i liked my time there, just was anoyed by the BIG changes the devs did.. im alergic to that and the nerfbat..like your radiator makes some tiny noise and the plumber starts beating it full force with his sledge hammer |

Yes i expected it more polished too. But for me other points are the gamebrakers: -You said no jumping was a mistake, but i dont wanna see bunnyhopping pirats and naval officers, so i consider that a wise descission. - No synchrone Day/Night circle realy steals from immersion -You said walking in cities is not needed. I say it is. Eve will add it for the social hubs and to be honest the Ports are filled with live and i like it. Without the game would attract less people. Still to few layouts around.(and that is also why they have day n night citieas ^^) - Avatar combat is not TeH blast but its also not all that bad ..bad is..theres only a couple of maps to run around, and in some maps npc will swarm you 5to1 regardless how you approach. I think they will fix that. - some instances are needed but not all, please read the dev logs they explain pretty well why they have so many instances. For my part i dont mind em so much, lets hope they will get the best out of it. - Only one server, i absolutely vote for that - i dont see lvling in a Pirat game making any sense, i would have went for a *skillbased* System plus a trainable crew, lots of upgrade slots for your ship which make realistic sense. Upgrades that allow the player to plank his ship till it wont move anymore or put guns on it till it sinks, anyway lots of options. I would try to avoid the mmorpg feeling with paperdoll fitting where upgrades are just like armor or weapon slots ,consumable are just like potions, and skills are the speciall attacks and buffs *copy paste eq,WOW* Ya..well.. the game aint bad its fun for sure, just not my white rabbit. |

This game is realy good fun at the starts.
The quests are fine to do along if you like storylines. Shipcombat feels very basic and kinda slowin pve so your best option is to shot down the crew & board every npc ship to shorten the battle. Wih this tactic you can win with two lvl 16 ships vs a lvl 36 ships.((and thats how to grind xp and loot 8( )) Avatar combat is clunky and complicated at the first view, but very simple once you pic the right sets of skills and not all that bad. Still NPC tend to swarm you in some missions what means certain death. The concept is fun but when the lvls come slower it turned into a very repetiv grind for me, the suroundings & szene wont change much and the exploration is non eixtance. Economy can be fun if you want to get into it. Im a bid sad, cause you cant *train* & *hire*your own crew. Also the outfitting of your ship is in no way realistic but you have upgrade slots like on a mmorpg paper doll?? 8( FL somehow felt also to go with skills + cooldowns like the norm of mmorpgs rather then micromanaging & training you crew for certain abilities or a ton of modification for your ship. Giving ships lvl requierments is in my eyes also a bad idea.Still the FL Devs are the nicest team of a game company i enountered and i think they will make this game great in the ways it is, means: new maps, new ports, better AVcom exploration maps,
O well maybe im just to old for any form of grind only EQ2+my guild there managed to make me go to max lvl. Yes.. the fun is many time better with a good society/guild in POTBS like in Eve what i play now. Cheers

and atmosphere she can totaly pve to max lvl. i would suggest a free trader Char, crafting is no grind and vs npcs the trader boats are strong ennough.
If you pay together with her you may want a NO(naval officer) to guard her on her *profit runs* or group for big missions let her run solo missions/crafting while you go out and hunt for PVP or do Portbattles

Oh.. they made it easier?
They seem butchering this game with a crowbar while struggling for a bigger player base. I still had lots of fun with it the 2 months i played, but when devs need to make huge changes here and there i dont feel comfotable, as i dont know if the game will end up to easy to grindy to ...etc

I don't play MMORPGs without roleplay anymore and need a bit of help...
Role Playing Discussion « General Discussion 12/29/07 9:37:20 PM
i would advise you to get nwn1 or nwn2 and join one of the *player made persistant worlds* under the RolePlay folder
maybe even look at this build www.worldofcharun.net
Also eq2 antonia bayle server is very well known for its RP and eq2 is a realy nice game with lots of stuff to do and nice graphics |

oooh ..nice! i hope they think about letting you now also reset Atr. by cloning. About power regen...i think the old facts will remain ..so one of em did push regen and also one did increase your pool. Would be funny to see some *Mage* builds |

okay you get one *HA!* for the nice humoristic work on your wall of text. on the euro server the Generalchat is quiet amusin ^^ i dont see much hate there and people tend to be very helpfull. Seems TR is just not your thing and youre bitter that games with more quality have been ruined by WOW. Tr for sure is not a deep immersiv mmorpg like UO or EQ or even AC and it dosent rry to be. Maybe you should have a look at Vanguard. Its the last big attempt to build such a game and will be for some loong time. It had an update lately Regards

manakar youre right! many players will leave mmorpgs after they rushed to endgame and see theres nothing there to gain. { Mod Edit } |
