Does it matter who I'm paying? If I'm paying for a beta at all its still wrong.

Plus, do you REALLY think that Cryptic just said to themselves "Hey, you know what would be funny? Lets give all of our beta access codes to some random third party to distribute for no reason at all. They can even charge money for them if they want." File Planet knows that nobody would ever sign up for their services otherwise (after all, you can download from their servers for free and torrents have made them nearly obsolete anyway) so they are PAYING Cryptic for the rights to use beta access to CO as a way to promote their services.

That's true

But... paying isn't the only way to join the Beta. Just like other games, some ppl get an invite, some get it through pre-ordering, but most people never get into the beta. Then if some ppl are so desperate to join betas that they pay for it... then fine, someone somewhere is laughing all the way to the bank.

Some of the stuff I hear about Champions sounds like I might be curious. Were the beta free I'd try it out and then maybe buy. But since I either have to pre-order the game or subscribe to fileplanet ($15 minimum payment) for a game that goes live in 12 days, I'll pass.

QFT

Last time I had to pay to get into a beta the game was awful. The developers were just looking to make a quick buck before everyone found out how crappy their game was. The "beta" was terrible and riddled with bugs. The "game" was mostly playable but there was nothing to really do other than grind levels. None of the features the devs had claimed their game would have were actually in the game in any sense. I didn't even get the impression the game was even designed to do such things or that the devs even really knew what they were doing at all. People started to complain and ask for refunds. A few lucky souls got refunds before the devs quickly locked everything down and stopped giving anyone anything. Many of the devs dissapeared and the official forums were sent into a state of panic. The mods just banned everyone who said anything negative about the game and deleted their posts. Later when the game actually released, the devs kept charging monthly subscription fees from people who had already cancelled their accounts in beta.

And the name of the game that did all this? Dark and Light.

The moral of the story is that you should never pay to get into a beta. Its always a last ditch effort from the developer to make a quick buck off of you before their game gets released and it becomes common knowledge that it doesn't live up to the hype.

I posted above about CO but after a few days I have to say it's pretty fun. MMO-fun that is, for what's it worth.

After hearing negative feedback from some of the Champions Online beta testers, I don't think the game will be that great.

Agreed. As the game stands now, it has nothing to fear from Champions.

This was surely not a smart move, the open beta that started yesterday felt pretty empty. I think I saw 10 different players during that hour I played. No talking in the channels what so ever. Very different from the Closed Beta. They made such an expensive mistake

Yup Stop it now!

This game has it's own forum and website, I think it's better to post this there

"Less promising is the fact that combat is being overhauled in the new expansion, and, while this may conjure up nightmarish visions of 'combat upgrades' from other MMORPGs, we'll hold off on sounding the alarm bells until the system has been put through the paces on the live servers."

This only includes the mechanics behind the combat then, not the actual animations or anything? I would love if combat in this game become more.. alive or whatever I should call it.

If only the look of the characters in this game would look better I would give it another go, tried it some week ago at the welcome back weekend, not that bad, but character look and combat keeps me out from this game at the moment.

1. Stormreach is set in world of Ebberon, that is new setting for pen and paper. How you say, forgotten realms or to be more precise land of Faerun is no longer in development in offices of wizards of the coast so everything is set in Ebberon, books, novels and yes games.

2. You can check official nwn site for info on public games.

1. That sounded strange, so I checked the wizards.com site and it seems like they still are doing forgotten realms stuff. As the new edition of D&D arrived this year the Faerun world setting took a leap 100 years into the future and a lot of (strange and stupid?) stuff happened to the world to justify the new rules.

"D&D Online is as far away from a true D&D version game than you can get.."

I think that D&D online was/is very close to the 3.0 ruleset, not exactly the same,  but close. I've never played Eberron campaigns but when I looked through the book it certainly feels like the same game that turbine made.

Personally, I'm awaiting the day we invent a pill that can temporarily stop the speech and writing capabilities of a human being.

Then we distribute these pills to the whiners all over the world, and see what happens. If that fails, well we still have firearms! and bullets speak louder than words.

Yes kill everyone that complains over something or have different opinions then yourself, such a great idea. It's a shame that it didn't work out in Afghanistan, but maybe next time it will!

I wish you good luck as I already have left the game due to dead server and cannot send anymore ingame feedback.

Pre launch warhammer - everyone is complaining about wow and everyone is tired of that game, the masses wants something new!

Warhammer launch - everyone is playing warhammer like they played Wow, PvE grinding and waiting for scenarios to pop.

Post launch - bohoooo warhammer is nothing like wow, I am going back to wow.

So basically there are 2 different arguments going on

1. Xfire, is it good, can you use it, what's better, what does it numbers actually mean... and so on

2. Decline in players in Warhammer online.

the second point is the one intresting to me, I don't care about Xfire, I've never used it. But sure as hell there is a big decline of players on my server(s) I've explained this in other threads. Last couple of days the maps have been almost empty. I've checked all Tiers with main and alts and PQ lies deserted the scenarios pops less and less often and always with the same players. RvR nonexistant.

I really liked WAR but it's not fun anymore as noone is playing it anymore on my server(s). And yes I am in a big guild, big dead guild. My freetime ended yesterday and I see no reason (except to support the game devs with money) to resub.

Sorry if you all wanted to discuss the uses of Xfire only in this thread but it sometimes sounds thats there are no one leaving and everything is fine in the world of Warhammer, Xfire is a big lie. But still My account died a lonely death yesterday.

On our server we don't have any gold selles, never heard from them even once. Probably casue you don't need any boost of gold in this game. I've no idea what to spend all my gold on. I play(ed) on two european servers if that makes any difference.

If Mythic had balls they would work out how many active subs they have.  Work out how many servers they need to leave open and know they are full, apologise to everyone who is not on a busy server and shut them down.  The game is still in its infancy so do it now and dont let the game grind out a slow death.  If I had a level 30 character and I was told they are shutting my server down but there will be 1000's of more active players I may be upset but I would prefer it TBH.

I don't see why in this case they could allow for a server transfer?

I have 1 main (30) and 2 alts (20) I wouldn't go through it all again, not so soon at least.

I don't know if this information is available anywhere or if it's forbidden to speak about, but what is the server limit? How much is low population? How much is Med and how much is high and when is a server full?

I did a /who yesterday in Black fire pass and found 6 players My friend did one in Ellyrion and saw 9 players. This is terrible on a friday night, or is it not?

/who doesn't work on players that use /anon. Which in the case of my guild is 99% of the players , since it make it impossible for gold spammers to send you tell. ( since they can't /who you).

Ok if you say so, although I don't think that /who gives you 1% of the population, the population really feels thin. Very thin if you compare it to the first week. I've never had a single Gold spammer call either, I'm in europe if thats makes any difference?

I really like the game, but as it is now I've been doing scenarios, with and against teh same players over and over, and grinding PQ while I wait for them to pop.

My free time ended a couple of hours ago and I am really unsure if I am to resub.

My bet is the Slayer  will come in the  hard part will be armor as in the lore Slayers do not wear armor. Other then that they would be a perfect DPS class.

Maybe they could use a new armor class called tatoos, that could be cool. Different looking tatoos that had some stats, also they could have some skills that gave lots of temporal armor bonus or Toughness bonus. Making for a somewhat new kind of class.

I was surprised that the Slayer wasn't a playable class from start. Lorewise I don't think that there are many slayers so maybe that was one of the reasons.

Slayers are pretty common if you compare them to the likes of Warrior Priests and Bright Wizards. As an example these only exist as single hero units in the tabletop game, while Slayers come in entire regiments.

Yes you're right there. In my mind I was comparing Slayers to longbeards or hammerers or whatever it was they had intened for the MDPS.

It's no wonder that the world looks like this. Blow up the internet and destroy all computers and noone has to be angry over those games, they seem to be more trouble for everyone then enjoyment.
