Incredible, of all games to buy accounts for he chooses EvE. A game where brain cell count matters lol. This is hilarious yet in many ways sad because of his flat out denial.

Ok so i downloaded the game and left to work. I just came back and installed the game. I have the email with the password and username but i cant seem to be able to log in. This is what i keep getting:

Fury log reporting service started.
Build: 19513
Verifying hardware compatibility...
Error receiving packet.
Hardware is ok.
Sent login request, waiting...

I checked the times i am allowed to play and everything seems to be in order, so what can i do to log in and give this game a shot; it seems very promising.

Lineage 2 would be the dining room in prisons. You have to watch your back or you may get shanked lol. FFA!!!!!

BTW its only cuz of the setting i consider that game one of my fav so it would be along a casual restaurant status in my book.

EvE would be somewhat similar in the low sec part, while the high sec would be the childrens pen. Still dangerous but at least you can bring the kids in lol.

Id pick a Giant Mantis, but im sure id get nerfed after i wipe out the server .

Some people despise the NC customer service but as of yet ive never had an issue with them. A month ago i went back to replay CoX and they had all my accounts banned....for no reason. After a petition all my accounts were un banned within 15 minutes. Sure they screwed up (who doesnt) but their speedy response and solution made me happy. L2 is a great game but has been grossly mismanaged. Co|X is also great but imo has no end game. AA i still believe has great potential but itl go the way of the dodo bird soon. AION and TB seem to be heading int he right direction.

NC has great variety and while nto all their games will appeal to everyone im sure people will find at least one of their games enticing. They are THE publisher in the genre (at least until Blizz gets more MMOs out there).

Interesting. This is good news considering that the main culprit behind lag in EvE is the coding not the hardware. If this is succesful the performance boost would be welcomed.

I don´t know how you think graphic artists, etc. stopping working on the graphics update would help the lag situation not to mention that according to CCP the new graphics engine should help the performance which isn´t too hard to believe considering that the current graphics engine doesn´t even really use GPU´s but rather use software rendering done by CPU.

And to the other poster saying that the lag problem is being exaggerated well it completely depends on what you do in EVE. I have empire alt for money making and no lag isn´t really a problem at all for him. My main though is engaged in 0.0 warfare and fleet battles do get laggy as hell.

Well those empire alts get a lot of lag depending on the system youre in. Fleet warfare has always been and probably always be lagged. The day the server can take 400 vs 400 people will bring 500 and so on. Its a never ending battle. What is hard about this issue is that CCP is sort of sailing in unexplored territory. No one runs their games in the same manner they do so they dont have a reference point. At the same time it could be a code issue rather than a hardware issue. I do believe that their DX10 update is supposed to be more stable (dont remember where i read this) but i guess only time will tell. I dont get much lag mainly because my pvp is on the small scale (skirmishes or 1v1) and some empire trading. But i have heard horror stories from other friends. I gave up on fleet warfare mainly because i find it boring (having everyone on a BS hitting f1-f8 from 100km isnt my idea of fun) and ofc the unbearable lag.

Its is interesting to see how CCP will deal with this as the population keep increasing, because atm it seems that the population is growing faster than they can buy Hardware.

Here: Monster Farm Online, aka. Monster Rancher Online in its Japanese form. CB started July, I think.

If they're incorporating elements from Monster Rancher Evo/5, then owning a team of monster is a possibility.

Sweet mother of monol! This is the game I've been waiting for! I just hope they don't screw this up. Also, they better release an english version. The art on the website looks awesome... I want this game... now!

I agree, i loved the moster rancher series. But if they wont localize the game for US players i hope they at least have a global version.

While i dont mind child-like representations of monsters (pokemon etc) Id rather go the path of something in between. Not too cuddly and not too ferocious. I do prefer to have an original IP than something based off an established one. That way the devs can have freedom to create concepts w/o the barriers of the IP holder and canonist fans who would hang them in the public square should they deviate from the established lore.

EDIT: steffan i disagree. While i think a pokemon community would be more than i could take, the IP has tons of fans which would willingly pay for an MMO. Ninendo has normally made quality products and though theyve yet to make an MMO im sure it would be done right. If people argue that pokemon fans are too young to pay for the game just look into WoW to see. Ive had 8 yr olds buy WoW at my store. And while im not dumb enought o think age = maturity im not to keen on believing that the pokemon community would be that mature. But you are right the game is complex to an extent. Put in some Jade cocoon/monster rancher breeding and youve got many more dimensions of complexity. But as ive said id prefer an original IP than simply put out an established one.

Wow thanks for that find, i wonder if theyll IP ban, Japanese MMOs tend to IP block practically everyone lol.

Bump, id like to see if some people have ideas similar to this.

I don't know.. I thought sullon zek was really fun.. but then again no one played the server because of all the griefing and training that went on there..  When I was on a blue server, the grind was boring & intolerable.. and raiding had no purpose other than to raid harder content..

As for more genres.. yeah that would be interesting..  But take a look at games like warhammer..  I don't think it's going to be much different than WoW..  Sure it will be more pvp oriented, but even those type of games get very boring(It will be like WoW arenas, or battlegrounds?)

I think what MMOS are missing is drama, conflict, etc. between guilds.  Guilds that dislike other guilds, attack their members, etc.  Now, when you have bluebie games like WoW out there with their fake pvp systems and instanced PvE, there is no conflict between guilds. That is why it is such a boring game.  Even in the pvp arenas, you dont want to kill the other guilds for any other reason than gaining points.  Isn't this like the only thing that makes MMORPGs fun?

You want pvp drama between guilds? Play L2, it runs on drama alone (love it). One thing id have to say though, while drama may be engrossing in pvp games it would fatigue you after a while. Sometimes you just wanna log in a chat with friends but their all whining about how they all got ganked in such and such place and scream waaaambulace for 3 hours. I like it in small dozes or i get burned out and leave the game for a while.

A pet based mmo would be good(I guess), but you can't base mmo's on something as deep as pokemon.  How many of them are their?  No clue, thats my point...it would be too many spells, too many types.  Sure they can leave some out, I honestly wouldn't care, but their will be those fanboys of pokemon crying about how "they don't have one pokemon I loved" or something ridiculous.

Well my concept would be even harder to pull off since monster numbers isnt everything, but also breeding them to change some stats and teach them skills they would not normally learn. That would make for some awesome individuality. And would make it more fun since most people would have totally different set ups even with mosters that are inherently the same type.

Also the trainers themselves would look different because you can simply make shops to buy clothes since gear wont be a factor. The crafting industry could revolve around breeding/creating boosters for those monsters during battle.

EDIT: gameloading you are right, but dont you think there are a lot of people willing to try out a concept most of us are at least aquainted with? I mean Jade Cocoon is a bit unknown but Monster rancher is a long standing series and i dont need to speak about pokemon.

For many years ive played MMOs and yet it surprises me that such a simple and addicting concept has never been turned into an MMO. Granted a Pokemon MMO would have a community im not happy with but looking back at the 1st 2 games i really loved them. I never played any of the new ones beyond silver/gold but i still like the concept. I also remember Playing Jade Cocoon for the PS1 and then PS2 and putting in sooo many hours that i surprised myseld. Seriously the game is soo repetitive but somehow i loved it. Moster rancher is also similar in a way and i remember having a lot of fun playing it.

Id love to see a developer create a new IP yet incorporating the ideas of using pets all the time. Uniqueness could be created by team build ofc and breeding selections. There would be good chances for pvp since those types of games lend themselves to tournaments or simply challenge someone to a duel. There could be proffesions of fulltime breeders that care and raise these mosters, trainers, gym leaders which could be replaced if beaten etc. Its cool because adventure can be soo easily incorporated into a game like that since certain types of monesters could only be caught in different areas or time frame. There could even be special versions of those mosters which would be bosses etc.

Im sure im not the only one who'd like a game like that so tell me what you think.

If AoC gets pushed back i wont mind tbh. For one ill be in the middle of my most intensive semester yet. Second, its just a game so i can live w/o it. WAR seems like a great game but it doesnt have me hyped up at all so theres no reason to just buy something when the one im waiting for its out yet. I prefer to keep playing EvE till then.

Man i could be crazy but i could swear i saw those renders a couple of months ago. Are they really new or perhaps they updated some of the models?

Lineage 2 sucks. Guild Wars sucks. City of Heroes owns for customisation but sucks anyway. (I've played all three btw...)

So far I can only see Blizzard as being the best.

How about a simply: L2 isnt my thing, neither is GW and despite CoX's customization it didnt meet my expectations?

Saying something sucks is almost like your imposing it as a fact when millions of people play those games and enjoy it. You are entitled to your opinion ofc, but theres no need to bash games you simply dont like. I played L2 for 2 yrs, CoX for one and i loved them both never tried GW as i didnt find it interesting enough for me.

Back to the OP if its strictly for MMOs then yes id say NC would win. Blizzard (though a legend in the gaming industry) only has one MMO, and even though its the hulking giant of the genre the fact remains that Blizzard only has ONE MMO so they obviously arent offering variety. Perhaps in the future they will have a couple (Starcraft MMO) which will add some variety to their lineup of MMOs. But The only other company that could hold a candle to NC in variety would have to be SOE. But even w/o SOE's reputation i find the NC lineup more varied and wholesome. I do hope they offer a station pass when AION comes out though.

It's only recently, after a good while of wondering why I can't find a MMORPG to make me enjoy playing MMORPGs again that I had the small realization that I'm bored of being dumped on the beginning of a moving conveyer belt where I'm expected over x period of time to perform x number of tasks and earn x number of gold to then roll off at the far end like I had no part in the process other than to be there and press the expected keys when those keys required pressing. Everybody achieves the same magnificent goals from performing exactly the same perfunctory and compulsory motions and is left processed and packed with a sticker on their forehead saying "you played and enjoyed, OK?".

So which MMORPGs place significance on your choices and how you play the game when deciding your reward?

Try some of the sandbox MMOs out there. They are more entertaining IMO than whats being put out these days. Either case i fell ya, i know exactly what you mean. Perhaps thats why even when i leave EvE for a couple of weeks i always come back. At least there i feel like im in charge of my own destiny lol.

Try Ryzom or EvE...im sure some other players can tell you about others.

It's silly to make a law like this. Parents should be keeping track of their kids enough to monitor this themselves, without nanny government doing it.

However... I have to say this law, if put into place for my ISP and targeted at me (though I am way past being a teenager), would not affect me. I hardly ever play more than 3 hours in a row in any MMORPG. My wrists, back, joints, etc, just can't take it. Price of getting old I guess.

C

Its communism! The government is there nannies.

With more and more privatization i can hardly call China a communist country. More like a leftist Dictatorship. you are right about the nannies though *sigh*
