Questions about Eve from a person considering the game

Aside from that is has territorial contest which is a huge drawing point, Great Pvp which requires a lot of strategic and tactical thinking. -You can be effective starting day 1 since characters now start with well over 800k whereas i began w 93k lol. The key to this is finding a group of like-minded people and you will have a blast. Eve is very group oriented though solo play is possible. 2. Havent touched the new tutorial but input from rookies i help out seem to get a good grasp of the basics very quickly. For everything else the rookie channel helps with any residing questions you may have. If you need more 1 on 1 help ask for a private convo with anyone in rookie channel or mail me in game and ill answer w/e questions you may have. (ingame name is same as here, Rehmes) 3. The new patch balances some ship speeds but that wont affect new playes as they did not experience things beforehand, aside form that the new certificate systems allows newer players get an idea of what to shoot for when in doubt. New missions may also help rookies get some variety (missions are dull imo) 4. I suppose the ONE thing EvE bring to playes that other games dont is the thrill of pvp. The idea that dying can cost you everything you have on that ship and more. The fact that once you find a group of people that you can click with you can do almost anything. Ive done everything from carebearing to pirating doing ransoms to fighting alliances much larger thanmy corp to joining large alliances myself. You make your fun in the game thats whats great about it, and perhaps whats not so great for some. 5. There are a few guides in the official site, ship set ups included. But i think the best way to get thing in gear is to talk to people, they tend to explain things in higher detail than most guides can. |

Tabula Rasa: Garriott Announces Departure from NCsoft
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/12/08 7:41:37 AM
The game was great in concept but RG failed to deliver and basically cheated NC out of a lot of money for the product delivered. TR isnt such a bad game imo but truly deserved much more. |

Wtf happened to the rating list...?

Aside fromt he fact that the list is not an indication of how good a game is, the next issue with the list is that it doesnt separate the ranking between released and unreleased and simply mashes em together and differentiates em using only a color. Hype numbers tend to always be higher than released game ratings so thats why you see that many unreleased games ranking much higher than released games.....cuz the list is done by rating/hype together. Once some of those games are released youll see them drop in rankings like a fly. |

Come on, the only thing they are doing is fixing something that shouldnt have happened to begin with. The ships meant to go fast will still go fast the ones that shouldnt have wont.....i dont see an issue here. And for the record i fly matar ships only and have flows nano ships for a long time now. Even im not whining at this obvious imbalance fix.

I cant think of there being a better time to start a game like EvE. There are major expansion twice a year for the most part so as far as that goes you wont be content hungry for long. The game already has a huge depth that goes beyond what a normal MMO goes. Give the trial a shot and ask all the question you want to ask in the rookie channel. Get to know people and join the ones you have things in comon with. Believe me EvE is a blast if you play it with the right people around you. Remember the game is open ended so you pick what you want to do, there is nto instant gratification and itl feel a bit slow in the 1st few weeks. But if you get hooked there is no other game like it. |

This Game Is Going To Suck HARD
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/28/08 11:26:10 AM
Originally posted by Locklain It would be great if a company could design their own game. However, Bioware has EA standing over their shoulders now so don't expect anything outside of the box. I hope everything comes out alright but I don't set my hopes too high.
Spore was released under the EA umbrella and it was still a great game. The reason for that was that EA didn't make the damned game but rather published it. EA is known to turn games into crap but from my experience that has been more from their internal studios rather than studios they have acquired. I trust Bioware will develop their game with relative freedom from EA while keeping in touch with LA which owns anything SW. Ofc i could be dead wrong but making claims about a game long before its development cycle is nearing its end and barely any details have been made open is pointless. |

This Game Is Going To Suck HARD
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/28/08 11:12:15 AM
Hurray more trolls! Game is ages away from releasing and very few details have been released. You may be right or wrong we wont know until the devs release more details as development continues. That being said Bioware is not like every other company and they always deliver good games. While this may be their 1st MMO it wont change the fact that they are ambitious in their games. |

I'd prefer sandbox themed tbh, but im not sure if thats the direction the game is being developed into. As for the Jedi issue i am a believer that it shouldnt be hard as hell to become one. So long as there are different Skills within the Jedi skill poor to specialize into so that people are different i dont see an issue. For example: -Melee oriented Jedi skills (even within melee you have one handed/two-handed/dual wiending) -Force Oriented etc. Im sure a large amount of people will prefer to play jedi or what not but if you make the other classes appealing to peple they will be used. Bounty hunters, Medics, Rouges. Are but a few of classes that are specialized and could serve as a good alternative to Jedis.
One thing i would def wanna see is the ability to travel the galaxy and visit many planets, NOT INSTANCES FFS. |

Good read, i cant wait for this to come out. |

I think that they will have free expansions, Theres very little to indicate that they will make you pay for them. |

Pros And Cons Of Your Favorite MMO
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/27/08 9:40:19 PM
EvE Online: Pros: -Sandbox -Great pvp -Conquerable Territory -Tactics and Strategy mean more than Lvs (in this case SP) -No classes, just ships with different roles -Player run economy -Helpful Community Cons: -Fleet warfare is a pain (lag!!!) though in all fairness that will never be fixed cuz as soon ass you raise the bar players will topple it. -PvE content is in many ways dull -Influx of morons from other games who cant seem to see the game for what it is and compare it to games they have played before. (seriously stop that cuz theres no other game that shares commonality with EvE atm).

Griefing and what it mean to you.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/27/08 11:31:11 AM
Ive been griefed in Lineage 2 when i was a lowbie, hell even as a high lv i was griefed by larger entities. But it was part of the game and it only gave me determination to get better. Sure it could be aggravating when one is not in the mood of pvping. But if thats the case then i shouldnt have played those days since the game is FFA pvp lol. |

Very interesting, would be nice to see this project come to fruition |

Glad to see some poeple found their "perfect game". My friend bought it and i got to try it for a while, its certainly not for me. Not cuz i think it sucks, but rather because it level based and i have realized that since i started EvE that i wont be able to easily return to one of those games w/o having withdrawal issues eithin hours. For those playing WAR hf, its cool to see people excited about a well-made game. For me and the rest of us who want more depth in our games well have to wait and see if someone gives a damn about our plight lol. |
