The whole point of the video was that WoW destroyed the MMO community because everyone started making theme parks. and left Sandbox games to rot.

It just got me thinking. Sandbox rpgs today dont have anything special that makes them endless over a theme park RPG. 

Few ways, pvp of course, but you don't want to go into that.

Other option might be item decay.

It did wonders in SWG, materials had to be harvested and every material spawned during a period and had different stats.

So every item eventually decayed and broke down after usage, so there was always a demand for new items and materials for everyone out there in the virtual world.

So that's a way to keep everyone busy and the economy rolling, even in a themepark.

OP apparently is THE benchmark for all games out there, better take him serious, after alll, he has tried all major mmo's so he knows what's best for you, especially as we are all blind according to his 1st line.

They already have, if the forums are to be believed (dubious). But just to be safe, I dont report anyone, or use zone chat. Apparently some people got banned for reporting gold sellers and had to wait several days for their account to be reinstated. I dont entirely trust that ZOS customer service/GM's know what they're doing, so no chances taken.

I've gotten level 31 with my main, got alts at 10 and 15 and some minor. And I don't feel like opening the game and start leveling anymore. It's a hassle. I feel the leveling takes too much time, and isn't as interesting. I mean, I've had fun until now. The itemization isn't even that interesting. Damage, enchants with various damage and stuff is mostly it. Then the traits, more xp for that particular item, less costs upon dying? Boring. Set items is of course the thing, but why collect a set at level 30, when you get better invidual items a few quests/mobs later.


Anyone else feeling this? I'd liek tip on what to do in order to feel less bored with it. I'm in 2-3 playerguilds already.

So you want a MMO where you can race through levels, skip content, no background quest story and only the "ok ok ok, I dont have time, not interested in the who what where why story, kill 10 boars and return? gotcha, gotta go now! Hurry!".

The game's out like 1 week or so and you're grinding and complaining about getting burned out?


No rant but you're better off with World of Warcraft.

Bypass story lines, fast clicking. reach end level in 1 day, get XP boosting gear on your alts; reach end level in 1 day with those, or simply buy a boost to level 90 immediately.

This game is for players that want to enjoy the ride, not the finish.

PvE was always supposed to be the levelling process in ESO with the endgame being AvA, so how are players burning out on ESO already?

These days it's "omg, I must hurry through this PVE leveling thing asap to get to the real content where it all happens;  the endgame" for many.

You can easily spot that group of people when they start complaining about endgame content when they are still leveling or doing a query about a upcoming game.

To me, Star Wars Galaxies had a handful of truly unique features that if I were to consider a spiritual successor to this game, they would have to include the following:

3. The Bio Engineer. To me, the beauty of this class wasnt the pets. It was the fact that SWG had a class that could support other crafting classes. Bio Engineered additives and enhancers made chefs food better, doctors medicine better etc. How many mmos have support classes for combat? Now how many of those have one for crafting too? Yeah not many, if any at all.

There are plenty more but those are just a few of the big ones for me. What were some singular features that made Star Wars Galaxies unique to you?

If we have to wait until 2022 for SWTOR and it gets another cash injection then SWTOR needs a revamp, and especially after playing TESO, which has been beautifully created with love and care, and makes exploring a pleasure, and it makes SWTOR look a clown of a MMO. SWG took my breath away with some of its scenery, LOTRO graphics took my breath away, and now does The Elder Scrolls Online. SWTOR graphics does nothing but make me cringe.

The things that need changing in SWTOR are the graphics to be less cartoony, the worlds need to be expanded and remove all the exhaustion zones, and make the worlds more lively.

You forgot less static cut scenes , o wait the new ones aren't static and SWTOR cartoony ? Hm you must have played a different game than myself. At least they have made the cut scenes better that's what you wanted and a few others on here. You should check it out and btw they change the graphics on a regular basis. I always see changes.

As to the OP they probably have put in a lot of money over the two or so years , so not sure what closing it down and revamping it would do at this point. So no I think leave as is please.



I did not say it was a cartoon, I said it was cartoony - SWTOR is half realistic and half cartoon, therefore cartoony. The graphics are certainly blocky and mostly duplicated everywhere. There is zero cartoon traits in TESO, and there was none in SWG, and also none in LOTRO.

I do not care too much for cut scenes in MMOs. It is much better that the NPCs interact and move with you (and others) within the game world, which TESO (and LOTRO) does more. In TESO it seems that NPCs are only in certain places for you if you have or have not done the quests. While others can see a NPC, you will not if you have done the NPCs quest, which I find to be quite smart.

Since its half cartoony and half realistic so why not realistic?  your post makes no sense.

Swtor has its own art style and TESO is well based on ES.

Its like comparing apple with oranges. 

Because it is not realistic enough to take seriosuly. SWG was not half baked, nor was LOTRO or TESO, so why should SWTOR be? Even KOTOR was not cartoony either.

The fact you think SWG had good graphics pretty much invalidates anything you have to say. The game looked like ass, and had an engine even more unoptimized than SWTOR's.

SWG practically defined the term, 'half-baked'. It was a buggy mess of an unfinished game with a great crafting system and community holding it up, along with the eventual addition of space combat.

It does not invalidate anything. Also it is down to personal preference

SWGs graphics are just dated now. Going back to the screenshots the graphics are not blowing me away like they did, but they did blow me away years ago (2003/2004). I have not once been blown away by the graphics in SWTOR, due to all the blocky cartoony effects, however I have been blown away countless times with the graphics in TESO. If SWG released today with those graphics then yes the graphics would be crap and be half-baked. However I still prefer its style over SWTORs with its blocky repetitive style. If SWTOR had graphics like TESO it would have been something awesome. 

I dont mind SWTOR graphics, frankly, I like them, it's just because the engine can't handle a good number of players and the game is EXTREMELY linear as far as progressing goes that every player has the same story to tell about his/her experiences with this game, it's just the character's name that is different.

I like freedom, and that is something SWTOR does not offer in any way.

Space on rails, planets with invisible walls and a one-way questing path and no way of playing other content except join the themepark ride.

LOVE sandboxes, it extends the playing experiences and adds own experiences instead of scripted presented to you by developers. When SWTOR stays the ultimate prison themepark as it is, I can never enjoy it.

Scenario 2:  It's clear that I'm going to win a game.  I have it set up so that I have enough on the board to end the game on my next turn unless my opponent can do something to defend against it (kill minions, drop a taunt, self-heal, etc.).  My opponent sees this, looks through his hand, and realizes that he's lost.

Some people will do the polite thing:  end his turn, let me kill him, and we both get the reward for playing and move on.  But an awful lot of people will decide to concede the match immediately instead.  Letting the match last another 5 seconds would increase the experience rewards for both of us.

This one, I'm a little more sympathetic to.  Some people may not care about experience; from the number of non-golden basic cards they're using, it's pretty obvious that they haven't hit the experience cap yet.  But if you don't care about golden cards, so be it.  And someone might reasonably worry that scenario #1 will play out, as seems to happen a lot.  But I still think it's annoying.

And these are just games that frustrate those players, they are like that in real life too, imagine what they do there when things don't go their way.

Yet, EverQuest still lives, despite EverQuest 2 lauching and I'm pretty sure both EQ and EQ2 will be around long after EQNext launches. The point the OP poster is making is there are new, fresh blood players interested in Eve, but Eve is definitely not new player friendly. Having a second shard would allow the next generation of people interested in Eve to at least attempt to accomplish what current Eve veterans have.

Why can't you do that right now? start the game with a new toon, earn a bit of ISK, start a corporation, and build from there and you can be alliance leader and filthy rich in no time, granted, if you have the brains to pull it off. Some people don't have the tools to do that.

Your ambition is the only limit in this game. The chances are right there for the taking, if you think you need to be on the same level as everyone else as far as ISK and SP are concerned, you are gravely mistaken.

I know players who were with me in 2003 and are still grunts with less then 1b ISK, and I see new players (2012-2013) who are corp leaders/alliance leaders now with 100+b in their wallets.

And yes, you can't be a titan pilot in 2 months, it takes time, still you can be a VERY useful addition to any corporation without being a 10y+ veteran. I got 160M+ skillpoints on most of my toons, 80% of those skillpoints dont help me one bit if I am in a ship which does not benefit from those skillpoints. As far as PVP is concerned, EVE is mostly a gank  &chess game, skill+pure luck > everything else. I see that every time when I log on to my 10M sp pvp alt which I use to kill "veterans" who are used to play in 10:1 advantage blobs and think they can pvp but can't ever win a 1 vs1. :)

Besides, it's not just about skill points advantage, it's about ISK too.

I worked my a$$ off for some ISK back in 2003, I have a friend play the trial, he had 1b after 1 month. Difficult? No, just use your brains.

EDIT: Theres a reason EQ population booms during a new progression server. Just thought I'd add that in.

Eve thrives on being a single shard game, adding more will just split up the population and you woul djust create another multi shard game like those themeparks out there.

CCP just needs to add more diverse content, and not listen to powerblock alliance leaders and just think what is good for the game and not because a alliance leader tells his thousands of minions to send in complaints and threaten to leave the game.

Nonetheless, I loved to play the game till 2005. The community made it bearable an dproduced some of the best MMO experiences I ever had with my friends.

What on earth are you talking about?.. the CCP <3 BoB days are way passed.

The problem with null is two coalitions that have all the space they need and have zero incentive to start a nullsec war. It's easier to just sit back and bathe in renter ISK.

All the third parties are either already sided with one of the two coalitions or are too small to make a difference.

In all my years playing this game I NEVER remember nullsec being so stagnant as it is now.

I am pointing out at majority of CCP devs being ex members of Goonswarm.

Releasing content and nerfing it when it didnt benefit that side. For example nerfing siphon units before release because a certain Goon Leader feared mass spamming of those on their towers and he contacted CCP.

They nerfed the amount and the cargo bay. Same with the mobile units.....just to name a few examples. CCP only comes to action when it affects that coalition.

If you didnt notice that, you should start playing again, Bob has been dead for many years now. And yes, I have been member of all incarnations.


That said, CCP needs to dissolve blob advantages, which they won't. A new server will result into a new Blob cluster very fast.

In fact, look at the Chinese cluster, Mega blob vs megablob right there.

Think of it like a endless stream of content, you'r enever done learning, unlike certain other games where you see all content and reach your peak in 1 day.

And please dont start with the "veterans have a unfair advantage because of their skillpoints" because it has been proven time and time again that knowledge > skillpoints. If you think that I would advise to l2play.

I pwn so many players in the North with 20-70m skillpoints on a 10m alt roaming there alone.


It is a sandbox, so content would be the same.

Blobs will still exist because players would get together again and reform, just take different regions. 90% just follows the leaders, the same people that will stand up and take the reigns of new alliances on a new cluster.


A new cluster isn't the problem in EVE, it is CCP favoring a certain group in the 2-side null sec wars and nerfing and boosting when those leaders demand it.

Only when that is solved, EVE will be healthy again.
