Temple of Elemental evil

Its been almost 15 years in mmorpg scene of evolvment . After the first mmorpg's that appeared we have been witnesses in a rather ackword evolvment. Something wierd like lets march, backwards. Cant explain it.

The 1st mmos created were build upon a  triangle.Creativity,innovation,frredom.

Over the  years we watched great improvement in technical aspects that involve technology teqniques ,better graficks engines, better sound ,sinematic videos to mark some special moments, very nice special effects list can go on.

On the other hand though one can not hold himself but notice the rest departments sinking down.Creativity, lack of imagination from the developers side, trying to copy paste already succesfull formulas instead of try to experiment ,yes experiment in order to produce something unique, some things that we yet to see in the mmo games we playing so far.

Yes dev teams are under pressure but pressure was always there. When Sid meyer created pirates for amstrad he wasnt a billionaire. Lord brittish gave it a shot and succed with ultima online. a turkish couple ALONE made a wonderfull masterpiece mount and blade(yes its not an mmo but still a unique game with greta gameplay and most realistic combat whole dev teams with loads of programmers were NOT able to give us so far,and 2 ppl alone did it).

Ok wow came out, most of us played it, we loved it,its gone kkthnksbb. Some other ppl loved L2 or eq series some other products too. Its time for something new.

There are 2  possibilities the way i see it here.

1.The new breed of programmers are complete underdeveloped in iq department   with no imagination what so ever, where when they hear the term rpg they thing about rockets ,and only rp gaming expirience was some retarded ps1-2 arcade-god  make them rpg.......

2. The developers have realised the gaming audience is such a dump that will buy any crap with just some special effects and nice graficks on and they think its not necessary to bust their ashes to create something unique ,a concept full of imagination and creativity.

If 1 we r screwed big time.

If 2 the shame goes on us and them as well. Its our fault. What we do? Stop buying crappy products. When they throw all their budget and recive not even a penny back they ll think it twice to bullshit their audience.

And when i say crappy products i dont mean indie games that they are busting their buds in work, with zero budget they try to create wonders with zero toolsand  financial resources. NO! i mean big well known companies that the last decade with only a very few exceptions are selling crap and mediocre at best case rpg's or mmorpgs. And we ppl are buying them.Grz on us we are stupid.

I give many hails to av for DF. They at least tried to create asomethign diferent. They failed? yes..at least they tried.Same goes for Mo.Same goes for SB,Eve list goes on.

On the other had? Rift? Tera? lotr?ddo? aoc??? all well known companies tried to take advantage of brand names and throwed mediocre games in the industry asking for money.

GW2 is next will it be different? who knows? Archeage ?we ll see.

id like to disagree.  for whatever it's worth.  if   a zone is "full" you will be put into a differnt instance of that zone.  check into the overflow server thing they talked about, about a month ago.

ahhh like districts in GW1? I was wondering if they'd have them. I'm not bothered by this personally but I'm used to it. Sometimes it's a benefit.

Instanced districts in GW1 and DDO was one of the most retarded things ever in mmorpg's we ve seen so far.

For what ? Wasting time asking eachother in a party:  hey,im in dist3 which dist u guys are on? Being on the same place with your friends and not able to see them? Most ridiculous and unrealistic thing ever.

If u r saying u r not bothered by this and sometimes its a benefit i can only assume few things here.

Either u r ANET employee , fanboy, or simply u r the typical kind of player type that lacks the tinest ammount of judgement which in my opinion is one of the biggest reason the mmorpg developer companies are not punished with zero sales ,for the crap mmorpgs products they serve us to eat last years. One of the main reasons the mmorpg scene is so static last years.

Anet employee? Nope

Fanboy? I am a fan, I'm not a boy though. I've played many games for many years and enjoyed many different sorts.

People like me are to blame for bad mmo's? Ok.

I would much rather have another shard open up then wait in a queue to play a game. If you prefer waiting that's up to you.

It appears i missed the part about the district opening during queqe status only, and for that i apologise.

Its just i recall talking with some friends about this situation and all agreed that it was an uneseccary measure both in gw1 and ddo and it was a ball breaking buster issue most of the times while playing in party.

For me it's important to have a world like WoW did back in classic where it is all seamless apart from the instances. Yet all I'm seeing is how you'll be able teleport everywhere which instantly kills the world and ruins the whole point of an MMORPG for me. The news on mounts just means they don't expect you to travel very far and the game will be all instanced and zoned.

The whole point of an MMO for me is to have this world, otherwise it might as well be a standard multiplayer game that just has a graphical server browser. The problem with SWTOR is you pay a subscription so I cannot justify that when I can get the same map design for free in a multiplayer game. GW2 however doesn't charge a subscription so I don't have to make the same choice or complaint around subscribing.

However with this news it isn't going to be the next MMO I and many people have been waiting for on these forums. It just looks like it'll be like all the other modern MMOs that have largely gotten rid of their world for instances and fast travel.

:\

It is like WoW.. so, not completely seemless. In WoW you got 2 Zones(the two continents) and in GW you got 4 Zones. In both of them you will have some intances(WoW -> Dungeons, Raids) and in GW(Dungeons, a few Personal Story Instances).

In both games the seemless Zones are huge, so it is not really a big problem, that they are not completely seemless.

yeah, im not trying to take sides, or knock anything, but gw2 is not seemless. and thats what i thought this topic was about. there are load screens between zones and when you enter personal story areas and city's.  and as far as anet has said there will be different instances of the city depending on how many people are there.  different intances of the same areas.  there will be loading screens, the world is not seemless.

Please, I would like to know where Anet said there will be different instances of the same areas.

Instances and Zones are a different thing. Zones are basicly sperated as a instance, but there is just one copy of it. So if you enter a zone everyone, who entered the same zone will be there. A Instance will have unlimited copies of the same area, so if you enter a instance not everyone entering will in the same instance. From a technically view of point it is done to devide people into different Servers(for netload) and to limit amount of players because of graphic(polygon count) and net traffic.

id like to disagree.  for whatever it's worth.  if   a zone is "full" you will be put into a differnt instance of that zone.  check into the overflow server thing they talked about, about a month ago.

It all started in wow where loads of frustrated players protessted against the massive mount zerg that was to come with future patches.

The main complain against blizzard was that instead of listen to the players protesting cryouts for more content ,smarter mobs, challenging A.I.,more tiers sets of gear per patch to give a further depth to the game, more depth to the characters build mechanisms instead of cutter them to death  etc etc etc, Blizaard desided to focuss on creating loads of mounts so ppl can change mounts while waiting in stormwind, oggrimar to find a raid or an arena team  xD

Now what this has to with gw2 and your post OP?

Its the same ppl protesting against mounts again xD

So it has been Pre min/maxed I guess.

Pretty much.

The current talent trees, and the upcoming MOP talent trees are the sole reason I'm not playing now, nor will I again.

Pandas don't bother me. Pokemon doesn't bother me. Faster leveling doesn't bother me (much). But this. This bothers me.

I can't get past their explanation that there were worthless talents that people had to choose to move on and the min/maxers dictated what you had to have anyway, so this does away with that. Personally, I never listened to the FotM group. I quit guilds for telling me I had to spec a certain way. Let me make choices, even if those choices are "bad".

There were never useless talents. Back in Bc or even vanilla i made some very smart hybrid combos that were really playing well especially in pvp on my hunter. And im talking about 10-12 different working hyrbid talent combos.

When Blizzard started the cuttering/butchering of talent numbers i understood from then it was just a cheap explanation from their side so they wouldnt have a hard job to balance and calculate much. They ended up in cata with a system that in fact let players with no choise at all in builds. U r martkmanship ? all talents from mm tree on. etc etc

And they finally conclused with an even more oversimplified version that will be in their next panda expansion.

Well they can have it. Skyrim tool kit is out now ;P

If it was in combat exactly like Mount&blade...There would be tons of burning.

If hypothetically the scenery the political system etc etc will come true the game's success will be determined on one factor. Combat system. If it works its fluid and addicitve this game has a good chance to mark the mmorpg scenery like wow did on its own unique way ofc. Sandboxers could find find their wow and themepark lovers a good chance to try a quality sandbox mmorpg. Time will show as always what this game will be.

What happened?

I ve quitted mmorpg's last 9 months . Me and 2 other rl friends are burned with age of wonders shadow magic multiplayer 1v1v1 with 5 computer players on extra large maps and its a hell of a burning heh.Brings back some of the good old times of Heroes of might and magic memories back.

Other than that there is always sid meyers pirates ,Sacred  alongside with moororwind+skyrim and baldur's gate2 and fifa manager 07 to fill the gasps ;P

To your notification now. Games that are coming out nowdays are a complete crap and garbage in gameplay , design, imagination from the programmers side. I cant recall a game similar to gameplay and addiction to Pirates x-com series, baldur's gate list is real long. There are only very few exceptions from time to time  (Skyrim,Fallout vegas both from bethesda btw)   but other than that its all crap games illustrated with super graficks and impressing efrfects but with gameplay depth to zero lvl that matches the iq of the ppl that make it or the consumers if u prefer (thats us).

Player interactivity has decayed so much it barely exists anymore. Thats the key element missing from nowdays And by interactivity i mean all the forms it comes along good and bad. Ganging, threating, terrorizing, razing, stealing ,tricking decieving, helping ,saving, partying, adventuring, trading, crafting etc etc etc list can go on.

You can demand a lot but you're not a realist if you demand the same. Are you honestly expecting the same performance from a car that costs $1000 and a car that costs $100.000?

The difference between B2P and P2P during launch is zero. You pay for both a box price. The similarities end there, simply because the subscription fees for a year's worth of gaming add up to three times the box price minimum. So by the end of the first year, one game still cost you $50 while the other cost you $200.

Do you still have the same expectations from both those products?

That's a fair question.

If i buy a car with 1k $   i ll expect to take me to work and back home. I wont expect it to get fan speeds or have nice performance unless ofc it was a super duper bargain. Gw2 with some of its elements gave that impression up to a point.

Back to a game with sub fee now. Dont forget that if i decide to pay a fee for 1 or 2 years it means that this game worths its money and im having loads of fun with it. None is forcing us to pay subs for products. Its a decision we customers make.

Same goes for Gw2 .none is forcing us to give 40 bucks/euros to buy it. Since we have to give money though hell yeah we have demands from that product. Thats normal. Would i have more grins of gw2 had a sub and i saw the game taking wrong directions from what i think it should? Surely but my  grins wouldnt change a thing anyway.

Are you paying a subscription for GW2:

  • Yes?
  • No?
If no, wouldn't you be a bit laxer regarding certain features from a game that is milking you every month to maintain the servers?

Im demanding alot from paying products as a potential customer whether it is cloths or cars or books or a videogame.

Regaurding GW2 i must remind u its not f2p its b2p so it requires our money no matter if it additionally requires a sub fee as extra income or not.

Suffice to say, I just  found it odd that some ppl wierdely enough changed their minds regaurding Instanced squares gameplay in mmorpg's which in my opinion takes out alot of that little sense of realistic solid full world to explore fewling u could get from a medieval fantasy mmo RPG.

All these annoying super duper effects are really that  important ? Couldnt tell what was going on during the fight.,,,

Eq 2 's mistake was it focused on pve while on the same time wow included pvp. Most ppl i knew that wer eplaying wow wer eplaying it because of pvp bg's at vanilla ,arenas later on and arenas+rated bg's as it is now.Only a few of them were dedicated raiders.

If somehow eq2 had a polished combat system and smooth animations added a well organised pvp system, ladders,bg's or whatever else someone could think im sure it could be a better option for the funs of  eq2/wow style mmorpgs than wow.

well, i'd have to disagree bigtime. While eq2 out does every other current MMO in terms of PVE content (by far). And eq2s animations > WoWs by miles. The combat is VERY fluid. And yes eq2 didnt have instaned pvp for many years.Instanced pvp is terrible though. It goes against what any good mmo stands for... eq2 had ludicrously great world pvp all acros norrath....and it is a very polished game haha

Somewhere around 2006-2007 i got tired of wow and bought eq2.After playing it 3days some things i noticed were plain obvious. World design was lot poorer than wow's at least from the areas i manged to visit. Animations and combat were in lower lvl than wow's.It felt clucnky and ackward. While it had some intresting ideas in combat system it didnt worked well or at least it gave that fewling. Along together with the fact that there was no organised pvp system but maybe random fights in the wilds that meant nothing i quitted.

Something about instanced pvp. You ll hear from many players around that Daoc had a real pvp and its daoc's world pvp was better than wow. I agree. We r not talking about daoc though. We r talking about wow's pvp vs eq2 's pvp which it was implemented as an option which means its fail case.

If what u r saying is true then why 9 millions worldwide playing wow and few thousands players only playing eq2 ? Dont u think it should be the opposite? Dont dellude yourself my friend.

If something is better than something else players prefer that one and play it.

I recall playing back some years ago the vanilla Hellgate London and it somehow gave me that Diablo style fewling (u know slaying mosters satisfaction ) .

I recall i played 2 characters 1 marine which i loved laying mines machine guns grenades pew pew action and 1 melee dual wielder with swords cant recall the classes names. I played it alot at start when it launched somehow i quitted after a period cause i had some expectations for the game (pvp and pve).I have to admit though it gave u some chills searching carefully in dark corridors or rooms and all of sudden screams and demons running after my poor butt and pew pew on the run hands shaking etc was quite nice heh.

After the new Hellgate launched recently i heard from a guy some good comments and was thinking to download and try it.

Anyone around that played it and can give any insight thoughts and expiriences from the new Hellgate? Is it better? improved? worst?

I have given thought on infinite lvl i think it would work as long ofc its made in such a wy that a higher lvl player wouldnt be much much stronger than alower lvl player. It means every time someone lvls he takes just a small small small bit of something .

The rest i agree except instanced dungeons. i find it hard ppl to accept getting ganged by sneakers while they are figthing mobs in a dungeon heh. I dont say i wouldnt play it, i just say othe rppl would whine.

There are ppl waiting wow's expansion to have a last wow taste or just keep burning, and there are all those eq2/L2 fans +wow disappointed fellas that if Archeage delivers in decent standards will play it.

Ok i found some mods that address some things i didnt liked in Vanilla skyrim so i can jump on it  tomorrow.

Pise       http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1269

Changes lvl scalling on the enemies ,encounters and many other things depending what u want there are the appropriate esps.

Life is tough    http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4132

Life stamina magicka regeneration ends with this mod. Personally i just used life and magicka regen stop(i think due to the waay combat plays it would be a real nuttbuster if stamina woudnt regen at all.And in combination with....

....Snotgurg_Useful_Food_v1_3         http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3942

with which food restores life over time ,some types of food also restores stamina for those who use stamina regen stop gives a meaning to rest/wait option which so far was kinda useless.
