A few things to keep in mind though. The pvp game of EQ2 has been severely neglected over the years, which is probably why theres more or less just one pvp server left (Nagafen). I think you will find far better pvp MMO's elsewhere to be honest.

If you do decide to give it a shot, just keep one thing in mind.

Don't EVER trust SOE!

AGREEED On the ever trusting SoE Yeah i been screwed over by them to much, So a friend and i renewed seems alright so far, So yeah hopfully it'll turn out good.

GREAT! on the more killing people , But is the game worth a 35 renew fee?(the last few xpacks i am missing) For at least a few months?

I still say go Bruiser for the whole look appeal,They are sick, and to make it even better make it a froglok and go evil, My friend had one a froglok bruiser he raped.

Unless a lot has changed since i played last it would prob be Monk if good or Bruiser if evil..

But it comes into, What do you wanna do? Solo or group? I know for a fact bruiser is great DPS reguardless but i think the monk was a little better solo. If you want pure dps(and i think bruiser is still better) Zerker is prob it.

So its been a while since i play EQ2(Quit right before RoK i think) Thinking about maybe returning, but i am not sure how the pvp servers pop look like now adays i use to play on Nagafen, But i heard they merged the pvp servers is this true?

If not how do they look now pop wise then? Worth spending $35.00 Buck's coming back even for a month or two?

Hell yah, If they dont screw it up like they did with war and make it a lot like WoW. lolol

Good idea, Dont think they will till they anet/ncsoft releases new info on the game.

eq1 was nothing but botters hackers and gold sellers 3 years ago, i cant see it having improved since then.

Not to be rude or flame, But if the game is filled with all that and you do not play it today, Whats the point in trolling this post and maybe start a problem?

How active post 50 would your server  be?

A guild yeah i am pretty big on guilds and would love to find one as soon as i can. The 50 server sounds cool but at the same time sounds like it takes away from the fun.

Well i am really thinking of returning(more like stating fresh  and all newbie like) And my factor to return is, How active is the game? Which server would be best for i guess a newer player, Will i survie? My main problem with coming to a old game is if its not active or i can't find people to play with its pointless to play a mmo.

Another question may have to be How bad is the leveling(avrg.) And can i get a screenshot of the UI i havn't seen the UI since like 2003 lol.

Any advice commets etc will be welcome.

lol yeah darkfall is definatly not your game. go back and play some auto targeting games so you can feel super powerful and awesome killing easy ass mobs to collect their pelts to continue on your endless quest chain and then pvp against people which takes no skill cause you just have to click a button to execute your ultra death move

unlike darkfall where you do have to aim because it takes more skill to be able to beat someone in pvp w/o a auto target system.

ive played every damn mmo on the market and pvp is ridonkulously easy, click the person cast death skill/spell they die.

i just recently got darkfall and pvp is a fuckin bitch! i feel like a total goon in fights because ive gone 10+ years playing easy mode

What a way to put down the OP and all other MMORPG's. Go play Daoc or Shadowbane if you want some good PvP action with skill needed.

daoc didnt take skill. and shadowbane no longer exists doesnt it?

I am with most other people on this ,Have you ever even plalyed daoc and or when it was in its prime?

Omg i love this idea, i dont know how they will put this in tho lose the ship lose 1 pip? or get podded what if you eject yourself? or kill yourself?

Anyways sounds cool reguardless can't wait!

it has not been announced yet but wont be around atleast 2012 the develper is studio 38....want to know why is will kill WoW 60% of the people working there were the ones who made WoW...and it will be WoW 2.0 in everyway.

we will never see the demise of WoW type games until the industry is worn done to only hardcore fans of MMO's end of story

So, it's like the people at hellgate all coming from blizzard and therefore having the talent and management skills and vision to create the next great Diablo?

If old games like UO, Asheron's call and EQ are around then WoW will most assuredly be around just due to the number of players.

Well that is true, but 38 has all MVP "All-Star" Devs from other compenys. But who knows it sounds sweet and i hope it will rock. But you never know.

I don't play CoX anymore(thats both) But i am sure its still active they are adding some sweet new conent that i am aware of, but it hink it would still be active. It was a pretty fun game when i played shouldn't of changed since then much.

Generally with about a month of skill training before wasting time on learnings you can get all of the skills to the point where you can survive and live in 0.0.

I definitely agree that knowing the basic mechanics and strategies of pvp is an absolute must, and that one can learn these somewhat in a noob corp in low sec. However, I completely disagree about your statement on 0.0 fleet combat. In my time playing the game, the largest fleet battle I participated in was the most fun and exciting time I have experienced in an MMO since I first played EQ long ago.

I do not quite believe your statement in red. Another person in thread said 4-6 months, and I said about 1.5 to 3 months. Obviously it is very subjective, as it depends on what role you are trying to fill and how much training you think is adequate. I know when I started 0.0 pvp I played in a cheaply outfitted cruiser as I expected to die. I guess I don't quite remember how long it takes to train the learning skills (3 weeks? at least to get a good amount of them), but I really would not advise training anything before them as you are being incredibly inefficient and are going to slow yourself down from getting to the point where you would be well skilled for pvp.

Again, all of this only applies if he is interested in pvp in EVE. If you want to do missions, mine, manufacture, or trade then you can start immediately (although I would still suggest tossing learning skills in if you think you will play the game for anything longer than 2 months) and will slowly develop an increased repertoire of skills.

1 month is about all you need any more to fit a Tier 2 battlecruiser that can kill of most 0.0 spawns for isk as well as be a viable ship for most ops. Sure you can waste 3 weeks with learning skills before that and it takes about 1.5 to 2 months then, as during that critical time period your advancing your characters ability absolutely none.... Does absolutely no good for a new player... everyone is soo damn conscerned about how much time they'll save over the 20+ years to max out thier character that they miss the fact that most people who pound out the learning skills during month one hate the game. To prove the point I took one of my alts with 950k skillpoints, a little bit more then what you start with I believe and ran him up to fly a harbringer that would be at least able to do 0.0 ratting in most case. is he great at it hell no but he'll survive. He also has the base skills to work well in small gang warfare as well as fit a decient cheap disposable ship for fleets. With no additional learning skills

Total time: 36 days, 3 hours, 58 minutes, 4 seconds

its 6 days longer and its almost 20 days till you see any improvement to your characters ability

you can push the learnings off till the second and third month or better yet just selectively do the learning skills that you need. The first one then drops to about 20 days if you only use the applicable learning skills for it which frees up some time to get some of the skills up to lvl 4 people waste a lot of early game time trying to save time in the long run, get fed up with not being able to do anything and quit never getting the use out of what they wasted the time on to begin with. I'd love for the learning skills to not even show up for new players till after thier first month.

AS for 0.0 fleet pvp I don't know how you found fleet pvp interesting.considering it was mostly just waiting for you to lock, waiting for your modules to activate switch to new target. Now you may be refering to much smaller engagements with about 25-50 people per side which is generally a mid sized to small gang engagement in eve terms.

This man is right and i agree with him atleast the first trial and month do not worry about the learning as hard as most vets say to do it, Its nice once you get to the rank 6 skills and up but in the start it saves you not much time at all, Its nice to have most at level 3-4 but anyways, try to have fun and learn the game.

To bad asheron's call 2 was canceled it would have fit your type 100% but i may say try EVE if you have not, But its not the game for everyone..And check your PMs

I wonder why you seem to think EVE/CCP not having PD means anything? PD servers are normally built from scrathc for that purpose

One of the most popular has no safe zones at all, period. even for newbies. You can be huddling together in an Inn and if the town gets raided by NPCs guess what your head is on the chopping block. The town needs to be constantly defended by the higher levels

so CCP not implementing PD- I'm not sure how that is relevant at all? Their MMORPG is about massive time commitment. would take 40+ yrs to unlock everything. isk is needed for very much as well. has instances, etc.

the popular PD server for NWN2 for instance has no instance, no safe zones. you are always in constant danger and the safe zones are all player created. Requires immense teamwork to live

EVE is nothing, nothing like this at all.

Starport, unlike EVE, is all mostly player skill. you pilot your own ship and dodge attacks. there are no skills you need to 'train' to get into the best ships.

EVE is nothing like the PD games I've ever seen so im unsure why you think thats a valid point

What are you blabbering about? Eve does not have any safe zones. Eve does not use instances. Deathpenalty: It may not be permadeath of the character because you do not lose your skill points but you damn well lose a lot of ingame currency when you die. I am pretty sure that a lot of Eve players have way more courage than a lot of permadeath players. With PD you cannot chose your fate and your loss is predetermined. In Eve you get to choose what you lose. The more you risk, the more you get to lose but you are a bit stronger at the same time. PD is the same thing as every other death penalty: loss of time. Its just a question of how much time. I am sure that deaths like a mothership death in Eve is the same as 1000 deaths in a permadeath game time wise.

you forget about Agent missions how do you expect someone to find you inside of a deadspace mission? Those coordinates you receive directly from an Agent lol. Player controlled pirates have no way to find you in those.

PErmadeath is simple to understand. It equals = dead character for all times. no rezzes, no clones, no insurance, no money tucked away in a bank. just all the way extreme you lose everything upon death

I got nothng against EVE (I'm a subscriber) but I know better to say its anything close to PD

EVE has insurance on your items. It is nothing close to PD I'm sorry. PD servers you can lose everything. there is no 'insurance' to save you lol. and no clones.... it is not an option.

and no Mothership deaths is not close to a PD game. your avatar in EVE is what you invest countless hours into and it is virtually impossible to lose. even if you dont buy the clones its just skill loss. no matter what your avatar still exists

In EVE it is very easy to survive to goal state (if you play the game since launch you are top level no doubt). In  a PD game, the chances are usually really high to slay ya before you can even dream of ever hitting level cap. Instead you are focused to socialize with your fellow man, cling together for survival, and do serious politics to make sure you dont get PKed within the role playing boundaries (if you're on a role playing server)

EVE is not a Permadeath game that is for certain. gimmie a break people been losing items (armor/weapons/goods) and skill points in games for years and years way before EVE that is not PErmadeath. never was, never will be

Hence, EVE should not be uttered in a PD topic period. If EVE is PD then Asheron's Call 1 Darktide is PD too. old skool UO would be PD. the list just goes on and on and on.... It is laughable people bring up EVE in PD topics. um, just no....

This post made me laugh so hard because this dude has no clue what hes talking about besides the fact that there is no PD in EVE(Its close to PD, Lose your ship and if you dont get a clone you lose your clone and skillpoints) other then that he is CLUELESS about the game.

SWG Had PD when jedi first came out, After 3 deaths on a jedi it was gone.

She is pretty , but really i think what it is, Her eyes just one of thoses girls that has the eyes to make almost anyone fall in love with.
