@OP:
Boring? Hardly. Overwhelming perhaps. I think that that if you expect a button mashing, reflex based, instant gratification game you will be disappointed with EVE. If you on the other hand have some patience to learn how things work, have the brains to see how incredibly complex and diverse the game is, and if you can get over your first initial losses when you realize how brutal EVE universe can be you are set for an experience that will change your views on how MMOs should be. :)

I am a fairly new EVE player, I have never bought or sold GTCs, but I like the idea of them being in the game:
For one, and I am surprised no one has mentioned it yet, they are an awesome way of taking ISK out of the game economy which helps preventing inflation.
Second: time is very important in EVE - especially now that ghost training has been removed: if you for some reason cannot pay for your next month of game time, you are loosing skill training time (which is a permanent loss as it is impossible to make up for it), so giving people an option to pay with in game currency for more playing time is great.

To sum it up, I see no problem with trading ISK for gaming time, or vice versa, if you do it the CCP way you know you are making a safe transaction, and you are not destroying the game... Plus if you are real good at making in game money you can actually play for free, how perfect is that?

You get pigments for dyes from critical successes in cultivating... They do not happen that often, so I bet there will be a nice market for them.

As for gold being easy to get, yes it is, you are not starved for money at early levels and you can get by on what you get from quests and mobs you loot along the way, I guess money grinding is not meant to be the a time sink in WAR. On my server there is a healthy AH, not too much stuff at this point yet, but there are some nice blues and even a few epics. I am sure that prices will inflate over the time, and you will be spending lots of money (more then people are used to from other games) on talismans, dyes and pots.

Shamans called Yoda and Loldigocks and a bright wizard called Mrburns are the ones that made me chuckle. I am sure I will encounter more in upcoming weeks.

I too am in europe and have been playing on NA OB servers, I get no stuttering or noticable lag what-so-ever.

Try this, after waiting for GOA for hours I have bought us open beta key there, took about half an hour to receive my key.

The continue button appears once you have filled in all the fields (passwords need to match and the key needs to have the correct number of characters). Or at least it did for me when I finished filling it.

Finally a positive surprise from GOA, consider the OB fiasco forgiven... but not forgotten.

It has been stated multiple times by mythic that you will be able to patch the open beta client into retail client without the need of reinstall from game cds/dvds. You will have to upgrade your account with the retail code as well.

My first two characters were destruction, but then when I have noticed how outnumbered order was, I have rerolled order. Now I get into scenarios within 60sec of when I queue, battlefield objectives are often capped by the other side so there is always something to do in RvR. Do we get rolled over? Sometimes, but it is fun, and there is a sense of unity and close cooperation among the underdogs. I have also spoken with many of the people I have met and many of them did exactly the same thing, rerolled to the underpowered side and never looked back, I guess some of us prefer being the underdogs.

I have decided to save myself the aggravation and bought US open beta code from the link above. Not 30 min from the start, I have received my code, set up account at Mythic and downloaded the first 200Mb of the US client... And even though I need to download another 9.1Gb I have a feeling that I will be playing before GOA sorts out their stuff. So thank you very much Arcona! <3

Awesome, 12 hours later and I still haven't been able to register my key (which I had since the middle of April (early CE preorder)). Words fail me to describe my disbelief and frustration. I am this -> <- close from ordering the US version so that I do not have to have anything to do with GOA ever again.

Looks like all the doomsayers with DAOC experience were right. :(

How did you get as far as the image verification? Every time I try to log in I get 'code 1033' error and when I try to make new account 'momentarily unavailable'... It's driving me nuts :/

Not pulling anything the client has updated with a new login to create ur account, u can check the Warhammer Alliance forums about they all doing it.
