Voice chat after release would be a nice touch.  No sense in choosing to have the things allready promised missing with a voice chat system, get the things allready promised to be in launch done by launch first.  The problem is a lot of people would like to speak with others time to time outside guild groups and not all groups can be in guild groups.  Having  a large guild with a nice vent or ts server will alienate everyone outside of the guld as you only experiance guild members.

Personally, even having a low quality chat that everyone can talk on inside of any group will probabley get more people involved in buying a microphone than just the guild chat system can provide, since now the microphone has more usage power and more value.  It also makes it far easier to recruit people into guilds, expecially if they hear your guild members chatting it up inside of the group too; they will want to be part of the family.

I have played LOTR before and the chat system was the one feature I think that helped keep it's playerbase there...  If Gods and Heroes implemented one it would definately increase it's subscriptions or at least the subscriptions retained over time.  It would definately help hold mine.

I feel after playing both games that LOTR does look much better than EQ2.  EQ2 runs worse because it is much more detailed than LOTR is in most places...  More detail does not allways mean better graphics, EQ2 had so much detail that it never ran well on a very good system at the time it came out, even after upgrades that I quit the game just before purchasing a computer that could really play the game for Vanguard.  I feel that EQ2 came out with very cartoonish poorly rendered graphics if you had anything less than the 7000's Geforce series which was still a brand new series...  It did not allow for the lower end systems to see a beautiful game and play it smoothly like most games do with their medium settings, like vanguard, the game was made a little too futuristic with the graphics requirements and WoW was actually much better looking and playing at the time which probabley added to WoW's popularity; since I could run that game flawlessly with a system that crawled with medium low settings...

Getting back to LOTR, the game is so smooth and artistically rendered, very simular to WoW in many respectcs but obviously also much better.  Too many of the models and features reminded me of WoW to get into it very long but for purposes of this discussion there is nothing wrong with LOTR.  The people who made it definately had computers of all kinds targeted for gameplay a lot better than EQ2 ever did and helped contribute to LOTR's well-being.

The game is definately much improved, I only found one broken quest after getting a charecter to level 34.  The game is very nice and the graphics are un parralelled.  The problem is that the game is still not matured yet and will go through a re-launch soon.  They may also merge servers to increase the population.  I think my largest complaint is that the creatures are too weak compared to the players, at least half the classes in the game if played right can take down a 4-6 dot and in the handbook it said that it would be near impossible to do anything higher than 2 solo.  I know necros, psions, and rangers can all take 6 dot names down easy and I think that really undermines the whole grouping thing a whole lot.  I liked how in eq2 you had to have a group to take down powerful names, but since in this game you don't, it is much too easy to just camp them to farm a lot of plat and then make alts where you can tweak them right away. That is the general progression a lot of players play and it seriously dissapoints me more than any of the bugs.  This game is way too easy.
You realize that your input sounded like a 3 year old havnig a tantrum, nothing sounds as you kindly put it more "retarded" than text talk, when calling something as such...  None of your post makes sense, your just name calling and having a fit, I hope you have fun over in WoW with your squad, just don't come over to a real game and ruin it for the rest of us...   I am done talking now, don't bother responding because I am no longer watching this post, have a good life.
I have to agree with Daedalus, those assumptions were very false.  Although the reason we called it simular to WoW was probabley pointing out to it's extreme lack of originality  In most games you expect a slightly differint combat style, charecter drawings ect...  In this one the terrain was better, but the charecters looked like they came from a cartoon, like in WoW and the moves were very disapointing in terms of difficulty.  It really is a grindy, errand running game with very little to keep one going other than a boring PvP setup.

Lord of the ring actually did resemble WoW and it does not seem to have much innovation.  Most NPC's don't speak, the quests feel like endless errands, the LOTR theme is worked in there extremely poorly, and the PvP is allmost exactly like WoW.  It is definately not a game for people who liked EQ1 or anything challenging.  The most annoying thing about it, is that any sounds that managed to make it in the game seem completely fake and the skills are hopelessly fixed  The only good thing about it is the terrain looks nice, there are some good people to meet on it, the communiity is better than in WoW, but that is not enough alone to make me play it when so many better games are comming.

Well, if he was so smart, he'd know that your not supposed to quote an entire message if it's only the previous one; then adding one sentence to it lol...  Must play WoW or something.

It was late at night for me...  I forgot to look at the date posted.  If you would check my total number of posts, this would be like the third one, I don't totally understand the system yet.  I thought going to the last page would bring up the most recient posts, boy was I wrong!  LOL.

The message still is the same however, what was true then is definately as sad today.  I am just thankful that 3 nice MMORPG's are underway and at least one will be my style.

A very simular thing happened to me...  I have been thinking, damn... these mmo's are way too easy, got bored of Vanguard because half the classes in the game could fairly easily kill six dot names, which in previous games have been resserved for group/raid only.  There litterally wasn't anything just one player couldn't handle.  I started thinking, what would I like to play...  Came back to the Diablo era and thought if only they had a submersive theme that was hard, had some actual deaths in it and had mercenaries that you could equip, it would be awsome...  Lo and behold!  It has happened in ROME!!!  My jaw dropped when I saw the video where all the mortals were killing slain and I thought, wow, I want to be the first to get killed in this game.  I am also looking at age of conan and warhammer online, but so far this game looks like my home!  Please... Do NOT make this game too easy.

What was the last hard MMORPG you have enjoyed?  I don't really know of a hard one I've played.  Hardest thing I've ever done had to be fallen gate in EQ2 lol..  after that duneon the whole game was downhilll.

My question to those who hate raiding and think the items are too good is...  If you like to play the game so much, why can you only invest 30 mins of time into it?  I have a girlfriend, job, college, and a white water kayaking hobbie and I still find the time to raid somewhere, I enjoy it...  with a 3.8 GPA halfway through my junior year...  It must be that you don't really like the game, or your trying to make money off of it.  Go find a quick little fps game like counterstrike where everyone has an equal chance, take one head shot, sigh and move on to whatever is more important!

The question shouldn't be will vanguard require me to raid to get the best gear, it should be, what do I LIKE the most in an mmorpg, and which one HAS that.

Vanguard is built to be an epic mmorpg, without raiding, what would make it epic?

Yes it will be like EQ1 a lot more than EQ2 was.  Read the FAQ on vanguardsagaofheros.com

If you like crafting, it looks like your great items can also come from there...  They don't fall from trees, items have to have some price...

In games that price is time...
