Vanguard file size doesn't gel with ingame content.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/12/07 3:48:50 AM
The game actually takes up 7GBs. The other 10 GBs will be unlocked on 30th of Jan, it's what some people refer to as "the magic patch".

Let's Talk about Linear Dungeons...
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/11/07 6:18:49 PM
Kharazan, the new 10 man instance in BC is very non linear. It's basically a big tower and you can go up in a number of different ways, even teleport in if you have the means to do so. I do think they started making dungeons less linear with the introduction of ZG, AQ20 and even Naxx, where you can fight bosses in the order you want. Hopefully this is something we'll be seing more in BC.

World of Warcraft: 8 Million Players Now Online
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/11/07 6:01:46 PM
Originally posted by mindspatAt the end of the post they made (link on OPs post) it gives the definition of a player/subscriber. First time I've seen them use the word "players" rather than "subscribers" to describe the WoW population. But this is no big surprise, considering BC just around the corner this was to be expected. I do think they actually meant to use "subscriber" in that article and don't think there's anything cinical in their wording in the article like your suggesting. |

Give me Three good reasons WoW is better than any other MMORPG
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 1/11/07 5:51:04 PM
1. Fun, more so that in any other MMO i've played (personal opinion).
2. Very polished gameplay, more so than most (EQ2 caught up on this point after 2 years). 3. Raid encounters are very well designed. Special mention for C'thun, Ouro and 4 horsemen. Only tried 15 day trial of Eve so can't really give fair comparison to that game. |

BTW T2 will get replaced by lvl65-68 blues, with the exception of breastplate, which gets replaced earlier on. The lvl62-64 greens replace T1 not T2 as you mentioned. The T3 sets will last you till lvl70, although you'll need T3.5 to start raiding again, ie Kharazan.

Enough to go to Vanguard from another MMO? I think not
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 1/11/07 5:18:08 PM
Think I'll wait 6+ months to give this game a go, first because currently I lack a high end computer to run it which hopefully I'll get as i upgrade my PC as prices fall, and secondly because the game will be more complete. I'm specially looking forward to what this game is like raid wise. If it's good enough then it'll probably be worth a go.

Interesting question: V:SOH really hard, or just...
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 1/11/07 12:34:18 PM
Originally posted by Vengeful That is true if you are fighting in MC. Saying that Vanguard is more difficult than WoW in terms of tanking is just not true. In fact some fights, ie C'thun, Twin Emps don't use the "normal" tanking strategies you mentioned above, and with many classes having different skills to help tanking in BC, ie hunters being able to "add" aggro to a tank on a pull rather than themselfs, or paladins having a "taunt" ability will make things even more interesting. Also rogues and druids have finishing abilities. In the end it all boils down to pressing buttons in a different combination for both games. There's little difference, in tanking anyway. |

Interesting question: V:SOH really hard, or just...
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 1/10/07 5:28:02 PM
The main difference is that in VAoH the ability is called "Rescue" while in WoW it's called "Taunt". One has 6 letters while the other has 5. Something that, obviously, adds to the difficulty of spelling, hence Vanguard being the harder game.

I agree with most people in this thread. WoW is not a game for Veteran MMO players. It's a game for people with families and people with jobs. People who can log on for an hour and have some fun with friends online. Lets hope instead for more games with super realistic graphics, with a really deep and immersive story and gameplay. Games where it will take days to travel accross continents, and where death is permanent. Games whose playerbase will consist of true MMO players, who can chat all day long about how their game is so much better than any other on the market.

Thinking of giving WoW another try, need some advice from the more mature players please.
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 12/19/06 8:06:33 PM
Most important thing is to find people you enjoy playing with and sticking with them. Been playing the game since day one and been raiding with same same peple for 1.5 years. Enjoying the game with 40+ people you know well and meet IRL is what makes this game special. You'll find immature players in whatever game you choose to play, but after a while, once you find a decent guild, you'll find people worth playing with.
In my experience the difference between PvE and PvP servers are minimal. Even Alliance/Horde differences have diminished over the last year or so as more people made alliance/horde alts. My suggestion would be for you to make a character on an RP server. |
