The fans really have nothing of substance to provide, so they resort to "fake" information and "fake" strangers who supposedly played the game.

LOL! Keep those cards and letters coming.

P.S. It's Brannoc... NOT Branoc

LOL! If you want to make a fake post, at least learn how to spell.

I hope you understand that is nothing a DF fan have made, its from a troll (DF hater).

Right now im happy someone is trying something different. And remember that TCoS have a realtime combat system,  so pushing a button might mean shit if we cant aim right : )

Aww, and i felt for it

I feel as a real smuck rightnow.

And for you others: MMORPGs are not about leveling up the character to be as everyone else. Its a shame if the MMO developers have made you thinks thats the right way.

The noob-veteran scenario you talk about is very steriotypical and out of its content. Its like saying the a fat fighter is slow and the skinny is quick. And why would a noob have poor gear and bad nerves? As i recall, veterans are the ones with nerve problems : )

But there lays our main peoblem, MMOs today want to sell the image of you as a here. And we all know there is no heros.  Not many people can handle that. Playing in a game and never becoming a hero.

Daarco, you can't win this one I'm sorry. Are you seriously saying that a fresh recruit out of bootcamp will be equal to a veteran of several tours? Honestly? To say that Vets are more nervous in war situations then recruits is just silly and you know it. Now are there special cases? Yes, but they are not the norm.

My point in all of this is that you are basing your argument on reality when it has no place in a fantasy game. It is a bad argument to make and I took nothing out of context. Even in real life every situation comes down to advantages, skill, and luck.

As to no heroes... it is sad that you believe that. Real life heroes are not the comic book superheroes true, but the do miraculous things all the same. Just yesturday 32 people lifted a bus to save a child, they are heroes. Every individual who has a purple heart is a hero. I can only assume that you again are trying to relate fantasy and reality. I play games to have fun and being equal is not always fun. I remember back in Diablo 1 days when exploiting was rampant. I was part of a small group of people that would kill PKers exploiting the game and ruining others fun. Did I win most of the time? no. After all I did not exploit and it is wicked hard to kill someone who is, but I did win some of the time and when you lay a beat down on someone who should wipe the floor with you it is much more rewarding.

having levels does not equal a horrible game any more then having skill base equals an guaranteed great game.

Yeah, but you understand what i mean. And we dont have to take the extremem noob and extreme veteran when comparing. Just take the average PvP gamer.  And no hearoes, Yes! Its sad i belive that. Espesially in DF. Its just a hunch i have, that many think they are heroes, but will get a rude awakening.

No beta, no publisher, no information period.  This is a classic lesson in how not to produce a MMO.

I really do want to see this game come out, but they need to stuff Tasos in a corner somewhere and get someone that has some marketing experience to be their front man.

But if we are lucky,  we get to play TCoS this year : )

For thing we know how they look, example a human, i want a Realistic look. But for things that we havent seen before, a dragon, orc or whatever....i can go for both.

But combat is a big "Realistic" monebt for me. I cant stand that cartoon combat we have today with light effects when a dagger waves in the air.

I just need to add one thing when we talks about hype.

TCoSis also a different MMO in development. It seems to be very nice. But they havent hyped it a bit. Almost the opposit, been quiet for months. Telling its community thay are working.

So we can all agree that hype means nothing, almost if you have a bad game, then you need to hyoe it two years ahead just to get anyone interested.

If you want a sand box MMO, go play Second Life, its nothing but a sandbox.    If you want an open land MMORPG then go to LOTRO or WoW.

Do you people crying for a sandbox MMO even know what the term sandbox means?

How dare you to say that LOTRO or WoW have open land?? Can you walk at any direction anytime you want?

NO, you cant. And thats not what sandbox is about. Its about that the devs dont hold your hands during playtime. No "quests" and shit.

hmm, when i think of it. I have never given that a thought before. First or third person, i think its pretty much the same.

And i think its very funny that we have begun to "flame" other sandbox MMOs here at the DF forum.

And the best of all: The developers are from Sweden!

Regarding sancoxMMOs. Most DF followers waits for DF because there isnr many sanbox MMOs out there or in development. As soon a new is announced, example Mortal Online, the DF community are usually the opnes to flock the new forums and talk about it. Thats how much they want a sanbox game to play.

Illius - Even though I'm more PvE oriented than PvP, I've run into that problem of "self" over "collective" too.  Even in situations like raiding where people have to work together to accomplish a goal, there's still usually an "out for yourself" mindset.  Do you think this is an innate problem with people in general, or do you think a game could actually find a way around this?

Venger - Why did you get tired of raiding? Was it like Illius's scenario, where it started to feel more like a job than fun? Or did it just start getting monotonous doing the same things over and over again? (ie, not enough content.)

Psymon - How come you just walked around towns and such? What were the things you liked to do when you were actually "playing" the game that you couldn't do anymore, or got bored with?

daarco - I'm pretty unfamiliar with SWG - What was it about the NGE that ruined the game for you?

2005 SWG got the NGE (New Game Enhancement). Over night we got from a sanbox MMO to a class/level/quest based. SOE cut 50% of the content in the process (some players lost 90%).

Before the NGE you could do whatever you wanted from day one. Go to any place, pick up any skill or profession any time you wanted to. "No" quests, only fun gameplay.
