I had a post outright deleted when I asked if something a player did was considered an exploit. I guess the official policy is we can't tell you. That's the only response I got from them. Maybe they're just tired of dealing with those exploits. It's about time they fixed some of them. I agree though, AoC is not worth it. I thought SOE was bad; they are a bunch of unethical bastards. I think Funcom is just too stupid as an organization to be anything more than a bunch of children. Either way, stay away from them; you'll be better for it. |

MMORPG community rates AoC as the best MMO ever!
General Discussion « Age of Conan 5/26/08 10:07:40 PM
I've noticed that the rating system on MMORPG.COM gets borked for at least a couple of days after a launch of a decent MMO. It was this way after LOTRO and VSoH. It'll be "more" accurate in a few days. |

AoC is one of the worst MMO launches I've ever experienced.
General Discussion « Age of Conan 5/25/08 7:41:46 PM
I don't think that AoC has had the worst (or one of the worse) launches in MMO history. But I guess that makes me a fanboy. I think Vanguard, Dark and Light and, even, the untouchable WoW had much worse launches. I remember not being able to log in with a main character for weeks due to their server issues. (Okay days, but I like to exaggerate - the issue did seem to last forever though). BTW, I do have latency issues. I get knocked off line about one an hour, and the system seems to need a reboot about 50% of the time. But then, the game is still playable (at least for me) and that's better than some of the MMO launches out there. |

Originally posted by pepcfreak What? This is one of the most unintelligent thing I've read on these forums. Bioware did not create SWG classic. Why would anyone ask for them to release it? Why would you assume that our hatred (or strong dislike for some of us) of SOE transfer over to Bioware? It's not like they implemented the NGE, showed a lack of ethics or attempted to get money from us using false advertisement. Give me a break. If you like the NGE fine. But you probably have better luck recruiting somewhere other than the SWG veteran refuge forums. The only reason I can think that you are here is to start a fight. |

Originally posted by BlackWatch Yes. I think most people will give it a fair shot. However, I also believe that many SWG vets will not like it. Bioware seems to be more interested in a story line structure while most SWG vets like the sand box style. That might turn off some vets. Will they feel cheated if this happens? Some will, but most won't. It is not like the NGE situation where an entire game system was completely altered overnight. It'll be a brand new game and most will approach it as such. |

Originally posted by wolfmann It's an inherent problem to the IP. The whole everyone wants to be a jedi thing won't go away ever. It's someething that the best developers would find impossible to fix. I was, however, referring to the whole canon issue. I'm pretty sure whatever company does the next SW MMO will have RP servers that are hopefully somewhat effective in enforcing a Star Wars feeling. Besides that, there is not too much that can be done. |

You can always do what I did when I first tried the game out. Learn a learning skill, then learn a combat skill. Keep alternating between the two. Mathematically, it's not the greatest thing to do; however, you still progress as a pilot and don't fall to far behind in the learning skill category. |

Originally posted by Evilsam There's going to be a playboy MMO? Woohoo. I hope this is an actual leak and not some random BS. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. An old republic MMO would be cool. At least that will take care of the biggest headache that SWG had to deal with: Jedi. |

This kind of sucks. My CPU is a 2.8 Ghz. I think everything else is in specs though. I guess its time for an upgrade. |

Any old Star Wars Online vets lurking about?

Originally posted by Terranah LOL. Good one. I tried a vet trial (still trying it). The server is dead; I keep attacking stuff that I don't mean to attack. The interface is just awful. Crafting is still broken (nerfed to uselessness). SWG really has very little going for it. I've been on for about five days and have yet to speak to one person or seen people speaking amongst themselves. Actually, I've only seen five people standing in the same location once. After seeing the sad state of the game, I really just wish that SOE would let go of the game; so, I can let go of (at least lessen) my dislike for them. |

LOL SOE is probably hoping that some poor smuck pads SWG sales numbers. |

Originally posted by Moaky07 I'm glad you realise that SOE is not faultless and makes boneheaded decisions. However, I think you don't realise that most SWG vets feel that SOE is unethical and should not be in business. Alot of us just can't fathom SOE being so stupid as to not realise its unethical behavior. It's not a simple situation where the vets feel that SOE just made a series of bad decisions. We feel that they made those decisions knowing full well the impact on the existing player base (not only the NGE but the release of the ToOW situation too). I can see your point that you care about the characters you built over the last seven years. However, I'll state my opinion of SOE based on my experience with them. If someone basically tells me to "shut up" (no matter how politely or impolitely), I'll ignore them unless they can refute the situation that upset me. If you're so upset by the negative publicity on the SWG vet forum, why don't you try to start a "I love SOE" thread on the EQ forums here? |
