Agreeing with cukimunga here and QFT.

$15 a month is standard mmo pricing.  There are a few that are $10, but 90% of all mmo's are $15 a month after paying $40-60 for the game itself.

This is how the gaming/mmo industry works.  Go troll elsewhere please.

battle.net account needed to play wow. What a crock of crap.

So, to sum it up, you will need to create a battle.net account and link it to your WoW account.

They want ppl who have multiple accounts to add them all to the one battle.net account (and will require it it seems) so if someone cracks your battle.net account you loose all your game accounts instead of just one....brilliant.

Oh, and if you're looking at getting StarCraft 2 or Diablo 3 you'll need to have a battle.net account for that too, even to play the single player campaign.

Fun stuff, full of needless red tape, giving way more monitoring power to Blizzard who's already illegally done a hardware spec pull off all our comps about a month ago which is completely illegal since they didn't give an opt out option. And again there'll be no opt out option, get a battle.net account or have your account inoperable but still billed.

Fucking brilliant.

I heard they hold a gun to your head and force you to accept the Terms of Service too which is of course illegal.

Actually no.  The reason you don't see gold spammers is because money is not a focal point in this game.

Most of your equipment is crafted, and money does not play a central role in this game.  Anything you can buy from the vendors can also be crafted.  Also any items you need to craft equipment can be scavenged.

So tell me why you would even need money except in a dire emergency if you run out of something and don't have time to go scavenging for parts to craft what you need?

The only thing you actually require money for in this game is your pattern and skill books, which aren't rediculously priced and are buyable using the chips you obtain from quests.

Skill books are also craftable, and from what I'm to understand the highest level skill books are craftable only.. but I can't speak from experience on that one.

Yes, I believe you just confirmed what I said :)

If you are effective at using Google, you can actually buy this game for about $20 ;)

Google "fallen earth cdkey"

Great review, Joe is a good spin doctor that could make anything sound like a good thing without actually lying.  Unfortunately, this impression article is the best thing Fallen Earth has to offer IMO.  I played for about 5 hours before cancelling my sub and returning to Aion... what a waste of time and money.  The controls absolutely break this game for me and make it completely unplayable.  It is unique, it does sport excellent graphics and good sound, with a storyline that grabbed me and made me want to play.  I can't say anything about PvP or crafting since I did none, but PvE was uninspired, and at once boring and frustrating.  I'm told the game has a steep learning curve that for many is worth sticking with and not giving up on, but it's my least favorite MMO to come along in... well, ever.

I am sorry that you enjoy the auto-attack auto-target mechanism for combat.  I hear WoW is doing well, maybe you should check that out.

We seen new games lately that sold more than twice 300K at the release. It is keeping the players that is the hard thing.

I actually thought it would have sold more by now. It will be very interesting to see if they can keep the players or not, it all depends how fun it is in the long run.

Good luck with it Aion. :D

I think a lot more people are going to wait a few months after release to give this one a shot.  Let them get in a few more patches.  Right after the holidays will probably be a good time to give it a try.  At least, that is what I'm doing.  I'm tired of being a guinea pig.

Aion already has been in a release state elsewhere (Asia) for a year now, the guinea pig factor has already been worked out by the Asian community.

I am using Win 7 Professional - Retail and have no problems whatsoever.

Have you tried a complete reinstall?

"Open" Beta

Did anyone ever stop to think that *ALL* open beta's require a key, and there will likely be ways to get the keys from websites such as Fileplanet, MMOHell, and various other gaming community sites, for FREE.  Probably even here at mmorpg.com

You just have to watch for them so that you don't miss out because the keys will likely be limited in number.

Nope, I'm tipping SW:TOR as the next big thing.

Aion is looking good, but TOR has the advantage of a killer IP and one of the best development houses in the business.

I'm not enamoured of NCSoft. Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa don't instill much confidence.

Yes but you do realize SW:TOR is going to have a cash shop right? And will be an instanced game much like Guild Wars, so not a true open world MMO?

You do know these things right?

Finally I got in after entering the beta key again on the website, then deleting and re downloading.  The game is fun and graphically is great, but it isn't quite as Massive as I would like my MMO's to be, its just a series of instances and its more like a single player RPG than MMO.  I am sure some would love it though.  And creative possibility for your character is amazing.

ya and honestly it just felt like a one player coin op +CoH with better graphics imo. did not hold my intrest for more than 20min. but like you said some will love it. I think the ones that would get more pleasure out of it are the ones who have never played CoH at all.

Exactly my thoughts as well.  It felt like CoH with redone graphics.  Really nothing new, really nothing innovative.  But heck we can have fun designing heroes with it, which is where most of the fun came in CoH was with the character customization.

Very excited for this to launch.  September 22nd can't come soon enough.  I'll likely play WoW until then, just for something to do.

That's capitalistic and and viewed as very unfair by a majority of Americans.

Ironic, I think.

That's a hilarious statement regarding Americans, the land of capitalism.  75% of the worlds wealth concentrated into 5% of the worlds population, and you say Americans view capitalism as unfair?

Haha that is mint. :)

I was listening to podcast and he brought up a good point; Why doesn't EQ2 have more players? With the tons of content and great community why do you think EQ2 can't retain its player base or add to it. It always seems to hover around the same amount of people. Now, new people join, but they seem to quit a month or so later. To me, it seems like EQ2 just can't really grow like WOW, or WAR.

What do you think the problem is?

Having attempted to play EQ2 a few times, for several months, I can say that the main problem for me and EQ2 was the lack of intuitive play and the bad interface.

I felt like I was driving a school bus trying to work my way around the bloated and poorly designed interface.  The combat was fairly boring, and the world not easy to navigate.

Interesting game, has some fun elements, but overall just didn't have enough appeal for someone brand new to the game to sit down and really get into.

I'm sure there are some "hard core" games out there full of grind, that force you to group, have death penalties, and lack maps or direction, so why don't you go play them instead of bashing WoW players?

Because of WoW popularity and those that play it ... any mainstream game thats designed by a huge company with a good IP will be a WoW clone (Warhammer online and Star Wars) . so were stuck with mostly underfunded under developed games. I bash WoW not because of its gameplay but because of what its done with the industry MMOs were starting to evolve from Eq1 into living worlds (SWG, DAOC) and then WoW came along and drove all evolution out of the game.

I could not agree more with this statement as I played EQ1, I played SWG, though I didn't play DAOC, wasn't my thing, and during those days, you didn't have a big set of quests to run through to advance your skills or level. You actually had to figure things out on your own, and put some effort into it, beyond finding mob x, killing 10 of mob x, and turning in the skulls to npc Y at flightpoint B.

Unfortunately now in the MMO industry, many games stagnate or don't reach their potential, because as everyone knows, WoW dominates the MMO market.

I myself am a 4 year veteran of WoW and I understand it has some great strengths. Raiding in WoW is simply fantastic, if a bit repetitive. Instances in WoW are truly a marvel. The world is beautifully crafted, even though once you reach the level cap, it is largely wasted, which is in itself a shame, because Blizzard has definitely created a very unique and beautiful game world.

Wow has been both a blessing and a curse on the MMO industry in that it has opened up a lot of players to the genre, but at the same time has doomed the industry to it's current state of linear forced play, at least until something comes along to usurp WoW's throne.

Haha, I rarely post, but that sir was hilarious!

Its a guestimation based on what EA hopes to have it has nothing to do with reality.  Anyone that takes this post as truth is retarded at the moment.  I'm not saying it'll make a million but I am saying that the OP is trying to twist the wording of the article to his own benefit.

250K is rather good in normal standards. Only one Game ever got bloated with more than 500K and thats WoW not even EQ 1 or 2 ever reached a Million and they're considered finicial successes because they are making a profit.

Hate to say it, but EQ had over 500k subs in it's prime day.

The clear choice for a 64 bit Windows O/S is Vista 64 bit.

Vista has some problems if you don't understand how to set windows up, but overall the 64 bit version of Vista far outperforms 64 bit XP.

Personally on my Vista installation (64 bit Ultimate) I get approximately 20% higher framerates in all of my games than I did under windows XP.

Vista is great, just make sure you take the time to figure it out as it is vastly different from XP.
