Probably not, women do have the instinct to be more nursing etc. But the women who play games usually aren't the stereotypical ones... :)

That being said, I love playing healer and I don't think of myself as very woman-like, so again, no. :p

Don't forget, in GW1 you could get hit by meteors and walk away 2 seconds after that and 100 damage... Same with lightning, ... Quit trying to find logic behind the damage schemes. This is exactly what DF developers were talking about when discussing how far they could takr realism in games until making them dull and boring. Their game perhaps didn't turn out too well, but they're right. If you want damage to be logical, you can only stick to either bows/swords, only magic, or only guns, from a realistic point of view they'll never fit.

That being said, I'm going for Engineer probably. It looks fun, and a different way of playing than what i'm used to. Like a spirit spammer with mines and more AoE, will love it for world pvp.

Also, I'm guessing they'll deal signifcantly more damage but they'll have to craft their bullets etc. Sounds like a fun class to play then, at least you'll have something useful to craft.

My money's on an engineer. The asura's need something for their golems, the charr something for their battle machines. Seems to fit perfectly. :)

There certainly were and are still times where epic means something, but for the most part,  it's just as common as the word "the".

You mean, 'teh'?

I hate people who use abbreviations like lol in real life, and actually pronounce it as 'lol'. Those people deserve to die in a fire. Slowly.

I wouldn't have noticed this similarity since I don't watch Glee

Lol who told you he is in Glee.

Edward did.

I'm with the devil, and rolling Human because talking rats scare the hell out of me. That, and rolling human is probably going to be quite underdawg. :p I was going to play Sylvari, until I saw one in the first trailer, they look imported straight from Aion/Lineage/Any-Other-Asian-MMO, just not what i was hoping for unfortunately.

BTW, he's not really trolling, he just has a well-formed opinion, one which I can relate to.

Looks kind of decent, although from judging by the looks, it's made by a handful of people, who haven't done this before. :) Bookmarked, should check it out later.

Perhaps a more communistic approach would be well suited for a game that is based off of its community?

That would fail for the same reasons communism did, it expects people to be generous and caring for its fellow human. While in reality, we're all greedy, and only really care for a few people. And teh interwebz doesn't exactly bring up one's best sides, does it? :p

Divide the number of users by the average IQ of the users to see how easy it is to make money.

The virus was most likely in your browser. Some viruses have the bad habit of infecting legitimate .exe's, much like normal (biological) virusus do. So it wasn't a false positive, but it wasn't RoM's fault. And in case you're wondering, you can even get viruses from ads these days, so no matter what you do, there's always a chance to get them.

What a game development enthusiast's desktop?

Only 580gb of space, excluding some servers I dump stuff on, but witness the epic glory of my desktop at http://i27.tinypic.com/3492i51.jpg with just 278 icons at the moment! I lost the screenshot where i actually filled both my screens with useless stuff like this. :)

If you liked WoW, you probably won't like GW.

Cola, whisky or beer. Cola because of the suger/caffeine, whisky because of the.. well.. alcohol and pleasant burn in the throat, and beer because we all love it. Belgian beer of course, I feel sorry for you people who have to drink American corn-based beer. :p

Just guessing, but mmorpg's almost exclusively run on UDP (except for WoW, I'm sure they have their reasons). Websites etc. run on TCP, and downloading stuff usually comes from a normal web server. So I'd say the update server is TCP, the rest is UDP.

C:/Program Files (with x86 if you're on 65bit)/Guild Wars/screens or something like that, shouldn't be too hard to find. ;)

Saying that nobody uses PhysX is just plain ignorant. Nearly every commercial game engine uses it for their physics right now, and you'll see a lot of games using it release in coming years.
Saying that it's more work for developers to use PhysX (not sure if that was you) is an even bigger mistake. Coding your own physics engine could easily take as long as the core game engine itself, while PhysX would still have a lot of advantages over it. PhysX was a mistake on ATI's end, Nvidia offered them to work together, and allow ATI cards to also benefit from PhysX, but ATI went with Havok instead...
Don't get me wrong though, I still prefer ATI over Nvidia, both have good cards, but Nvidia took advantage of their market position a few years ago and overpriced theirs. IMO, they deserve to suffer now.

Noone uses hardware accellerated PhysX. PhysX as a physics platform is very popular, though there are still more Havok based games than PhysX based games. But very few support hardware acceleration and most that do only have minor effects that NVidia added themselves. It definitely is more work for devs to add hardware accelerated PhysX over just basic PhysX.

Unity, T3D and UDK use PhysX, so just about every indie game uses PhysX. PhysX works on the GPU, Havok on the CPU, the current trend is moving it all over to the GPU, physics emulation isn't going to be any different.
As for the bigger games, either it's an eye-blinding fps with impressive physics, those are the games that do use PhysX hardware acceleration (pretty sure Crysis had it). Or you have MMO's or RTS's, who barely use any physics at all. The rest of them can use whatever the hell they want, they barely need any physics anyway.

I've gone from an Nvidia 8800 gt to an ATI 5870.  Over the years, I've used various ATI and Nvidia cards, so I have no particular bias towards either.  That being said, right now the ATI 5000 series cards are superior to comparable Nvidia cards by a wide margin.  When you add what each card will cost you, going with ATI right now is a no brainer.  Better performance and costs less.  The only people I can see not wanting to buy ATI over Nvidia right now are those that are waiting to see what Nvidia comes out with in the next few months or Nvidia fanboys.

BTW, PhysicsX is a gimmic  that relies on the game developer coding it in and not all Nvidia cards are capable of taking advantage of it.  Its just not worth it for most developers hence why you see only a handlfull of games capable of it.  The ATI cards being Direct X 11 capable has the potential to be much more useful and widespread, though we still haven't very many DX 10 games yet, so who knows.

You can choose between Guild wars Prophecies, factions, or nightfall. GW is the only mmo with a payment plan like that. ;)

Lotro is succesful, but Turbine made it. CM on the other hand made me quit. Their servers even crashed when 2 raids fought each other... So the PvMP was limited to some smaller ganking, unless you want huge lag spike and servers crashes.
There's no way i'll ever touch one of their games again.
