Only 12 "constellations" out of 88 existing? I'm disappointed, please quote me remaining 76 (

As a pseudo-scientific garbage, it has nothing to do with reality. To tell the biggest secret ever: there are no constellations (as we imagine) like Leo, Pisces and alike. Only stars, very distant stars (closest behind the sun is Alpha Centauri, only 4 light years). Oh, speaking about Aquarius, it is just ~600 light years away. So, if local star emits The Magic Beam telling I should be magic bearer at the very second of my birth...The Magic Beam will reach my remnants 600 years later.

So let's play games and not pay attention to garbage.

Istaria:Chronicles of the Gifted.  Graphic old, no markers "quest there", no pop-ups on monster "kill 100 of these", no auto-loot.

And it has Dragons. Real Dragons that can fly.

Played Istaria, Lotro, tried AoC...paid nothing.

...and you are asking a person who always avoids any PvP, designed area or not (and who never does PvP)...

As far as I have heared there are some specific areas where players can PvP. If I recall it, they are called "Arenas" and have some NPC so that you can assign yourself into team.

What happens next - no idea, i.e. if winner loots anything and loser loses everything or money only or something else.

The only game I could advice is Istaria.

There are more than enough crafting and combat classes. Each goes up to level 100, multiclassing allowed. So - you train your class to lvl.100, then switch to class B, level it to lvl.100 and alike.

Items do not wear/decay at all.

No PvP, hence no one would attack you and loot that precious Sword of Owning.

However, the game is really playable only for paying customers. If you pay, you can choose race other than Human. Hey, you can become a Dragon and fly in the sky! If you pay, you can own a plot of land and build your own city.

Bad thing is graphic if you are fan of top-level one. Istaria looks really outdated there. Population is a bit low, but mostly helpfull. Some players (like me, when I played) may just sit/run waiting for someone to call for help.

Voted "no". Reasons:

- Community driven game: Group content is king. Negative. Sorry, I'm soloer.

-Challenge Content (Risk vs Reward): Possibly yes

- Top Heavy PVE: i. Yes, of course.

- Adaptable In-depth Combat Mechanics (complete gear dependency omitted). No..

- Open Immersive World: No.

- Explore in a Dangerous World:  No.

- Adventure: Instead of the monotonous tasks we have in most mmos, go on an actual adventure with a group.Negative. Sorry, I am soloer.

- Player influence: T. Yes

- In-depth Crafting System & Item Design: Have a player driven economy within means. Yes

- End Game Content (balanced with lower levels): No

- Minimize Instant Gratification: You earn what you get. No.

- Death Penalty: No

8 "No" vs 4 "yes".

I don't see anyt problems at all. We have PvE-centric, PvP-centric, f2p, b2p, p2p, p2w games. We have anime (big eyes, skycraper swords), we have post-apocaliptics, we have fantasy, we have space,we have even adult mmorpgs.

We have what we want to. There is nothing wrong in this.

Companies produce things we consume. There is nothing wrong in this.

Every side is right there:PvE and PvP fans, anime lovers and anime haters, soloers and groupers, xxx theme lovers and haters. If players want, say, anime style mmorpgs - companies would make these. If there was a demand for a mmorpg where player plants trees - we would have at least one prospering "Plant the Tree" mmorpg.

One thing should be understood: in the times, when all companies offer, say, orange juice - a company that would offer Pepsi may win huge share of the market. But if everyone is offering Pepsi-style things, someone who would offer orange juicve may win huge share of the market.  And there is nothing wrong with this. Everyone offers p2p? offer f2p and get your share. Everyone is f2p? Offer p2p and get your share.

No, mmorpgs won't get banned. In some states, like North Korea or China with their intranet - yes, it's possible to cut down lines, censor and ban. Not an option for the rest of the world.

No, it could hardly be that any politiciant would want to becopme a prototype for monster in, say, WoW..

Yes, people are quick to judge. If a kid takes machine gun and goes on killing spree shouting "Long live Minbari Federation!", people would start to scream how violent Babylon-5 was. If kid takes a gun and goes on killing spree with slogan "Me luv u, Milla Jovovich", everyone would start to blame Milla's rolles in Resident Evil.

On the other side - yes, there are lots of violence in mmorpgs. When my big-chested toon in AoC died, I saw blood, her head cut off, I saw my enemies electrocuted etc. Yes, in most mmorpgs you fight humanoids and you see blood spilling etc.

Does it encourage crime? Hardly.

The solution could be - less gore, a bit less humanoid enemies. There may be Golems (Istaria), overgrown spiders/cave rats (Lotro), even evil undead (think of Nazgul) or dragons.  There could be more missions that encourage stealth/diplomatic solution. Example: there is Orcish outpost and it needs to be eliminated. You can kill all the Orcs and get 5 gold coins, but you can pour some drug to their ale so that they fell into deep sleep, get 25 gold coins and some nice equipment/title.

The way housing is built looks just superb.

Overall style - a bit cartoonish. The question is - how much would it be.

Would I go for it?  Free option - yes (having only 2 lives does not count as an obstacle). PvP - harder for me, I'm very bad at this and do not wanna to be stomped to the ground by someone 20 levels higher.  Not sure about overall feel, would region A be warm and sunny, inviting to stay and drink some ale in local tavern; would region B be frosty with aurora borealis and would be region C mountainous, cold one?

In theory - I am user of several games.

Lotro: playing every single day.

Age of Conan: played some time ago, now - not playing

Istaria: played long long time ago. Now visit only to get game updates.

I just can't devote my time to more than 1 mmorpg. Can't divide into two or three parts.

Safety only.  Can't see use of huge world where on every step my lvl.7 toon may be and will ge killed by some lvl. 77 just out of fun. Just because I am lvl.7 or because it is Monday or just because "noobz deserve to die".

every reply gets compared to LotRO so my suggestion is just to go back to LotRO. u havent really liked any other game that doesnt have big chested women.

It is the way we usually recognize thimngs in the world: by comparing. If there are two persons of same age, race...and one is 3 meters high and the other 1,5 - we would say, first person is high IF compared to second one.

Same with online games. I like(d) Lotro before it started its move towards hardcore. Even now there are ridiculous thoughts to increase damage made by mobs up to 3 or 7 times (!). And hardcore Lotro is just not for me. if only they had a server where pre-Update13 content could be played - I would live there and not go to other servers. But it isn't and we know it won't gonna happen.

Hence - a need to find a new home. Lotro does not fascinate me any longer. And any game I play, I would compare to Lotro (which is pretty natural). I will look for something Lotro's Minstrell class. For same peacefull and warm atmosphere, for same pve f2p.

Buig chested women are just for giggle, especially when I show it to my friends, like "look how could design of armour looks like...".

About PoM: i had some guides about setup and I used what I found. And it is my own strategy - to make offense strong and care too little about defense. if I one-shot enemy, I have little interest in bikini-strenght armour that Minstrels in Lotro are wearing.

Tempest of Set. So far, good class - am at lvl.8 and can electrocute 2 enemies at once. Three enemies may be problematic...However, took 1 Fleash eater (lvl.11) and 2 Flesh feeders (lvl.11) while being lvl.8 or 9. Finished with little health left, but still victorious.

So far, so good.

Not sure which PvE server I am on. My pretty Priestess got stuck and looks I won't be playing her. Necromancer currently is the choice...although a piuty, no ranged self-healing nuking unit, like Lotro's minstrel.

And yet I can't call harsh AoC my new home. I do miss something much like Lotro (but guess would have to play AoC, at least for big-chested blonde female Necromancers...)

p.S. tried EQ - did not like, something was just not for me. And looks like I am out of the options.

I ran into problems in AoC:

1) cannot post in official forums. I regisrted there with new nick...and no privileges to post/reply

2) sometimes chat disappears: i can't see people talking nor can i talk. whatever I enter, press "enter"- and "enter" won't do nothing.

3) my toons are over-squishy. Priestess tried to on-level Master of Ceremonies and was slain as many times as she attacked. Whjat is she worth if she can't do on-level mob? And I was spamming NPH chat - almost no chance to get a grouo.

3a) Guilds. Many spam advertising, some ninja-invites...but no realistic approach. Anyone knows any quality, active Guild?

4) necromancer: good class, but pain in J-Lo's best know body part. At lvl.7 I am not a ranged nor melee one, owned by lvl.10 Pirate. Have to ru n away...but running away is not an option. I somehow have to grow up to lvl.10 to start using pets (but have no heals).

feeling lost there. Game is fun, but sometimes harsh to beginners. Any ideas how to survive?

Hello everyone,

I just started AoC, am newbie here, so have to ask some questions.

My playstyle in Lotro was more in favour of Minstrel: self healing ranged unit. As per advice, I took Priestess of Mitra. Now, I have one "nuke", one AoE spell and "Rebuke". i also have melee things, but am not good in these.

After hitting level 10, I could allocate some points into 3 skill trees. I am investing into Vengeance thinking that this would increase my attack.

  1. After I purchase 5 upgrades in Vengeance tree, should I go deeper or increase healing skills? What setup is reccomeneded?
  2. What statuses are most important? I was told it was Wisdom and Strenght.?
  3. How to level up my toon quickier? Now I am unable to deal with enemies higher than 2 levels. I am lvl.12 - a lvl.14 mob is a problem while lvl.16 is almost unkillable
Any advice would be appreciated.

Age of Conan chosen. Thanks to everybody who participated.

Impressions so far:

  1. Character customization: positive (even can choose voice)
  2. Fantasy with no skyscraper size swords, no anime toons: very positive
  3. So far - all is free. However, cash shop ad pop-us eveyr time I log (I'm free player after all). 2 toons does not hurt me. Looks I cannot send stuff, but that does not hurt.
  4. Classes are not that powerfull as in Lotro. My poor big-chested blonde Priestess of Mitra running with her strings only (thanks to Vanity tab...) had a very difficult times to fight mob that was 2 levels higher. Priestess is a ranged class, hence melee is difficult
  5. Trait trees remind those in Lotro. So far investing into Vengeance to gain at least some offense. I can nuke lvl.5-8 crocodiles, but I want to nuke something on level. Strange is, that I ghain no new abilities on each level. used to it in Lotro.
  6. Quests not boring, even "plz plz plz be so kind and kill da 50 piratez" ones.
  7. A pity, quest you choose has no impact on gameplay. And I tried to play nice (big chested nude blonde...) Priestess.
  8. Guilds are active, recruitment everywhere. Community is nice and mostly helpfull for newbies
  9. However, surroundings are a bit harsh, no such warm peacefull atmosphere like Lotro's Shire or even Evendim. It's hard for me to actually like, say, Tortage and think about visiting it every now and then
Overall, generally - I'm satisfied. Have to master quest log and undrstand how to level fast. Then, one day I would be a good Priestess of Mitra. And later will try evil Necromancer - saw his minions in action, it's just cool.

Age of Conan started. Big chested, big-hipped Priestess of Mitra in the best outift ever (almost see-through silver bikini) started hed adventures.

Not an easy mode, died few times, but still was fun. Not sure about character customization - i received some points but nowhere to spend them (or I overlooked something). The only minus is exiting the game. Folks told I needed to use command /camp.

EQ2:tried yesterday. Interesting, but somehow did not captivate me.

So, I ended up stranded(Tor doesn't want my money???¿¿¿) and I've got a question:

What do you get for subbing beyond the 500 TP/month and 5 slots?

Destiny points. You can buy some very pretty things with them.

Swift travel (available after you become Premium)

Rest xp: you get some nice blue bar that adds to xp as you gain standard one

Every region up to Moria for free, as long as you are VIP

Riding skill for free (provided you finish this pesky race)

Shared wardrobe (others need to purchase)

Auction house slots (others need to purchase)

Priority login, instant customer support

AoC: considering. Whart frightens me - very advanced combat, much like Lotro's Warden. great if you master, woe if you fail. And gambits - I never used them in Lotro, was always too impatient.

Neverwinter:sounds promising, yet...some software (Arc client) to download in order to play. No client. Perfect world's forum full of angry people demanding this Arc to be removed.

Terra: thought it could be an option...when saw client. 25 Gigabytes, even with torrent it could take >3 hours.

(a pity I have to leave Lotro. if only there was something much like Lotro, just forever in easy mode...)
