I rather like this feature. Its new and interesting for me.
From what I've read, it won't take that long to complete and you will be able to interact with other human players if you wish. It's just an inovative way they found to introduce the game to the players (and will prolly let you take in the hopefuly lushes graphics the game will offer). Besides, if you play the game for a few months, it won't be 1 or 2 or 3 days of offline playing that will make you have a depression :) Congratz on the idea from my part |

Is it morally acceptable? Maybe not, but its a game; so I couldn't give a rats ass wether its ethical or not.
If you give up on fighting gold sellers and accept that you will never get rid of them; maybe it is much better for the company who produced the game, to get a good pie of the profit. Does it affect the game? Well yes. If its a lot or just a bit, it is debatable. It should be recognized that it can be pretty easy to earn good money in Eve, if you know what you're doing. |

People who come to Troll the game

Originally posted by Leodious This really expresses my view on the game as well. After so much time waiting and being fed that lore would be one of the most important aspects of the game; I think they failed to deliver it. The storyline may be engaging, but many many quests aren't (by many I mean most of them). One quest that got to me and I memorized was an elfish guy who told me he was leaving Middle Earth and wanted me to go pick up a leaf in the forest for him to remember Middle Earth. When I read that, I just remember saying "WTF?! Go pick the leaf yourself you lazy sod". The english used in this quest, and in many others (as well as conversations) seemed rather childish and not engaging. It wasn't highly polished and immersive as I was expecting (specially from elfs who are supposed to be wise and have a certain peculiar way of talking or simply conveying thoughts with feelings or "telepathy"). If anything, the people I encountered who had elvish characters, made a much better job at RP elvish culture than most elvish NPCs. So, the spirit of Middle Earth wasn't present as Leodious said. And just to say that also in Portugal, the man is called Tolkien; there are no pseudo-translations. |

People who come to Troll the game

Originally posted by Berndr What don't you understand in what I said. It is pretty basic... I didnt feel immersed and the lore wasn't appropriate, therefore it didnt achieve a high standard. Maybe you wanted a 10 page essay detailing the reasons; but this is enough for any inteligent human being to get an idea. |

People who come to Troll the game

2 things I didnt like about the game:
Lots of stupid quests, written in a very childish way (I played as an Elf). Lots of dwarfs lying around the shire. I waited 4 years for the game and was massively told that lore would be very important by the devs. The forums were bombarded with pseudo lore experts and purists that admited nothing but their own views. After so much talk, and imo they don't even get lore and immersion to an acceptable level. A game that is based on that, and doesnt fufill it, is not worth my money. I hope I have satisfied your requirement levels to comment on a game. If you disagree, you disagree. Just accept other's opinions. I have a lot of friends who like and play the game, and I don't go around critizising them when they speak good things about the game. |

He gives his opinion and you bash him in the beginning of your post because he didn’t explain it enough to suit your requirements? |

LOL.
"Read the announcements!!!" Yeah, i fkn read them to know how I couldnt log in. Hurray, announcements stating the obvious make my day! Codemasters suck (starting with their website and forums). |

Originally posted by boojiboy I agree (without any data to back it up) that the mmorpg market hasnt grown much. But the market may also be stagnant because no new inovations have come out (at least it can be a reason for it). From the general feel I get, there are a lot of players waiting for the right mmorpg; or playing one to pass time waiting for the One to come out. So even though the market may be stagnant (which Im not sure if it is), a good mmorpg would steal market share from other established mmorpgs (which lotro imo seems to have only done in a very marginal scale). |

I think they will have to revaluate the way they make mmorpgs and not the size of the market.
I waited 4 years for lotro and after playing the beta and seeing how shitty the game is, I didnt buy it (which happened with a lot of members from my kinship as well). AoC awaits now. Anyways, the server numbers aren't that bad. I wonder if they shouldnt merge some servers with those numbers (although I dont know the game and how many players each server should optimally have). |
