Sorry, you just fail to notice that growth and potential age of MMO players.

Tell me, why did you think, a Lego MMO was directed towards a grown man?

Or Hello Kitty Online for that matter, you just seem to think that every MMOs that come out should be tried or played by you, but it's not the case. MMOs for kids are coming out, "better watch the **** out!"

For someone who did start playing on EU1 and rerolled on NA1 after the the expansion was put on, I can confirm that skill up went alot faster the second time in than the first, I'm fairly close to what my first toon was after 2 weeks thand when I played the first toon for 2 months.

It's a given that it might also have to do with the fact that it wasn't my first time playing the game, but that aside, it still went up alot faster.

I really have to stop reading forums, my eyes always start to bleed and I can't tolerate it.

To all those complaining about takign forever to do stuff and increasing stats, listen to yourself.

You are coming here, talking that you have been playing the game for a month and would expect by then, being on the same level as someone who has been playing the game for a year? Get a hold of yourself, will you?

If I was to go on the EVE forum and say: "QQ, I can't do anything, I've been playing for a month and you are all so strong! Fix your game!" They would tell me to go fuck right off, wouldn't they? Well this is the same here!

There is no way for you to be on the same level as someone who has been playing for a year ahead of you. In DF, as in WoW and other games, there is a cap for everything I guess, in WoW it's Lv. 80 and stupid 5-man instances grinding (now that is) and in Darkfall, it's 100 max out of every skills and spells.

Of course, maxing out 100 in every skills and spells will take forever and I agree to that, but who said it was the point of it?

Why should Darkfall be maxed out in a month and then, simply be the PvP game that it is? I suspect it would take years for anyone to max out every skills and spells, but in the end, it's just a matter of time.

Now don't give yourself excuses for leaving a game just because "you can't compete". You can compete with people with similar strenght as yours and if you lose against them all the time, then the problem is your game play, not your skills. Darkfall is by no mean an easy game, there are surely tricks others know and you don't, but giving time you will learn, either by yourself or from someone else.

If I had to put a Lv. on myself, considering WoW from Lv.1-80, I believe no one is Lv.80 yet, maybe mid 40-50s and I, on the other hand, I'm Lv.4-5 after a month of play. So I don't kid myself, that I can compete with a Lv.40 when I'm Lv.5, you would do that? You certainly thought that you could.

So tell me, if you are leveling in WoW on a PvP server and a "skull" player of the other faction comes at you, what do you do?

Do you stand and fight, or do you run and hide? You run.

What most people don't get is that they only think about the present and "QQ arena is ballz" attitude.

But when you think about it, no games reached as high as WoW have.

Hell some people know about WoW that never played it, you can't say that for 90% of the titles people said instead of WoW.

There are such a big community around WoW compared to everything else, that they had no chance of winning and WoW seemed to only logical choice.

WoW - Game of the Decade (2010-2019)

Again, the whole thing about elves being too big, is your conception of what "elves should be like" too small.

First of all, since when were elves suppose to be "one-size fits all"?

Like most of you said here, FF XI/XIV are set in their own world and it's own rules, that applies to their races as well.

Stop trying to put everything in the same bucket...

Learn, Spread and Diversify.

Totally what I was thinking.

I really don't see why there should be anymore "ideas" about looting in Darkfall.

Personally, I think it is fine the way it is. Why make it even more time consuming as it already is anyway?

Beside, you want some realism?

I would probably cut off your limbs instead of figuring out how to "take you out" of your armor.

Much faster.

Edit: After reading the new post that were put on at the same time as mine. I really don't get that looting should require more time than it actually does, it should actually take less time.

In a real situation setting, if I was to kill you and you were an adventurer like in Darkfall, you would have your armor on you, your weapon on the ground and all the rest of your stuff, in a tidy bag. Why can't I just take up your bag and your weapon in hand and leave in a matter of seconds? I guess you could argue that looting the armor on the body should take as long as it takes you to put it on, that would be the "only" thing I'd agree to.

Sorry to hear about your cat... seems like you have many memories... I think maybe I should invest myself into getting one.

Most Improved: World of Warcraft

Best New Game: Darkfall

Best F2P: Dungeon and Dragon Online

Best Kids Game: Free Realms

Most Anticipated: FFXIV

Game of the Year: I do not think any games played in 2009 deserve that title.

Depends what you mean by "like" RO.

If you talk about the graphics specifically, the last thing that looks like it would be R.O.S.E. or something like hmm... "something something of the Solstice" or something like that.

Now if you talk about game play... RO wasn't anything really unique. So I guess any free MMO would "almost" be an upgrade from that.

Funny... I read up to here and barely an hour after the OP created this and you already ruined his topic and made him regret opening his mouth in the first place...

Damn you guys are good.

Redmoon Online and Ragnarok Online while it was in like Alpha/Beta test.

I have played Darkfall for the first 2 months of it's release.

The reason I stopped to play was because I wanted to play on the NA servers and since they were not going to transfer the caractere, I decided to stop until NA came out. Then NA did come out but I have other obligations now.

Regardless of that, I think that Darkfall has tremendous potential. Sure, there is griefing but what you need to find out is if you are a sheep or a wolf. At least if you are a sheep, are you a smart one, that doesn't get caught by wolves?

I must say. Never, in any other games, did I ever feel the way DF made me feel when my group of teamates were setting out for a raid. The preparation, the tactics and the skill involved to play the game, really made it worth my time there. The more I talk about it, the more I want to play it again, but the thing is, DF is very involving game and I can't have that in my life right now.

Take every reviews with a grain of salt. I have seen what "high-end" game looks like. I was there when The Mercs created the first Warhulk on the Euro server. I was actually in part of it's making and my guild at the time, was affiliated with theirs for the city they had and it was a great moment. Just to make it, all the materials required were insane, so much so that they ask for escort to the smelter to make the bars for it and there were like 20 of us guarding one guy crafting, even though we did nothing, it was still alot of fun.

No matter how many arena games you play, my heart rate has never been so high than when I played DF. Sure, dying does suck, but in the end, it's only items and beside, it's always less worst than you think it actually is.

I guess if you want to play the single player... fine.

But if you instead are looking for an MMO to play... oh god please skip this game.

There are tons of other free game that are much better and more indepth than that game.

Let's face it.

People don't want great content in MMORPGs. Of course, I'm making an over-generalization, but it is still true.

I'm just wondering, what % of players who played for example, Wrath of the Lick King, and just skiped through the text of the quests and just looked at the objectives? I did, personally. But even if you make the game without any levels and content base, some people will enjoy it and some others, will just skip through the content, do quest ASAP to advance in the content. It's going to be content grinding because people will want to cap the content as fast as possible to access the high content available to the game.

It's going to be the same problem, just in a different setting.

So is there a "true" solution?

I don't think so, humans are driven to show their worth through any means necessary, and for some, MMORPGs are it. Alright, I give it to  you that it isn't much worth, but the online world is a total different entity and growing at a breath-taking pace.

So personally, I don't believe there is a solution.

Like you mentionned, it happened with WAR.

In Darkfall, people grind weapon / archery / magic on afk players, while the afk players grind them defensive skills.

In WoW, you grind gear and then a few weeks or months later you grind the upper new set of gear.

In [insert new game name here], you grind content super fast with your new "Get to Max Content in 6 hours of Gameplay" guide, sold for 9.99$ U.S.

Great post.

Always knew there was something wrong with most current MMOs, but you just put the finger right on it.

Thank you for the blog, I'll make sure to forward it to some WoW sheep friends.

Good god, you guys sound like whiny ex-girlfriends... Game in development for 8 years etc and QQs... Same old, useless, unimportant comments that have been repeated for as long as 8 years ago.

You guys need to take something into perspective.

Of all the people, that will "EVER" play Darkfall, how many of them are currently playing right now?

Now most of you will say... "Well DF sucks, there won't ever be anymore players than their actually is!!"

But still, I think that not even 1% of Darkfall's future player base is currently playing. So what about some guys got to cap up their rigor, weapon skills and OMG Mana Missile grind before everyone else?

It. Does. Not. Matter. In the long run, when there are many servers and thousand more players playing, everything will be the same for everyone, and people won't even notice that 1 guy out of a thousand was there at the start and maxed out his skills. Eventually, someone that plays long enough will get there as well, maybe not as fast as he could have at some point in the game, but then, it won't matter, like it doesn't matter now.

Let's talk about a different, but similar example.

If I was a new WoW player for instance, and I would make a review for my playtime from Lv.1 to 30.

And then I would review, based on my own opinion and the gameplay that, I found the game boring, lack of interaction with other players, no depth to the game, it's laggy, don't like the graphics and etc etc... whatever comment you think anyone could come up with in a review.

What would most WoW or ex-WoW players say?

"Well... you've only been playing for a few days to get to Lv.30 (some can do it in a few hours), Lv.30's gameplay is no where near the kind of gameplay a Lv. 80 has in Northrend, it's a totally different kind of game then... and it's better because of this and that and this... etc..."

Hope I don't have to specify out my point here, I've been playing Darkfall for a mont or 2 now, and I wouldn't even trust myself to do it a proper review, so I can't see how someone who only plays for a few hours can have the "enlighthed" grasp of the whole game in that sort of time. More times than none, I felt I wanted to quit the game, out of frustration to things that happens in it, but eventually you realize that whenever you lost wasn't actually worth that much and that there is way more to do.

So whoever wrote blogs and reviews about any games actually, should always be read from viewer with careful analysist. There are tons of people you disagree with in RL and you shouldn't just go around random stuff people write and take it for granted.

I think everyone here can agree that the OP should have clearily stated his intention when "Reposting" such delicate information.

Not doing so, threw his topic far from what he intended at the making.

Guess this can be a lesson to most of us, to make clearer topic so that we can actually talk about what's really important instead of exchanging useless words.

I do agree with IAMMMO.

I think weapon skills should be allowed to level up to 25 max with default weapons.

Otherwise it will be very difficult for new players to level up their skill for 2 hander weapon for example.

I don't think they really thought ths through totally, but everything else in the patch is great.

Some might complain about players that were able to level up Rigor and weapon skill to 100 already but they only think of the past and the present.

Sure those guys too advantages for a month, but what is a month compared to something that is setting the stage for the next few years of the game's history. In the end, it won't matter. I guess that right now it does to you, but eventually, soon enough, it won't.
