EA wont simply cut mythic they will merge them with bioware...ohh wait that pretty much already happened. and since as of now the BIoware name is in good standing with the consumer it will simply become Bioware.

I find it hard that "most" players care about the MMO lore
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/09/09 8:10:18 PM
In some way i agree, I love the lore of a game myself...And the best game i have seen put that lore across is GW (due to instance heavy and the cut scenes) but other then that i believe The "story" focused MMO can not stand that long. The main reason (if not only reason) is that the players are having fun and are "into" the game. I believe that DEVs look at the great singleplayer RPGs of late (Dragon Age Mass Effect) and those of past times (Buladurs Gate Bard's tale) and see that these are heavy in Story, with a lot for a player to learn and explore. Why I believe Story driven MMOs will not do too well is from a few reasons. 1. Most players now-a-days do not care. They do not want to sit and read text because the mind set for most players are simply to get to max level or just to max out their play time with only productive measures, and enjoying yourself is simply not productive to them 2. The limit of replays one person can get out of a game due to heavy story. Now this i may have to explain, It is rare for me to replay an RPG, why? Well because i know the main points of the story will be the same. Sure I may see a new character who might be cool, or I could get different armor or even be a bad guy instead of good, but I will always know that X castle will be under attack after Y event or that X person will give me Y reward if I am nice to person Z. The simple changes are not enough for a whole new story. I don't think i will replay Dragon Age after I finish with my Warrior, I might do the Orgin Stories but I may not (as MW2 will take a lot of my time ) 3. If the story flurishes then the Game's simple processes and normal functions may not. Single player RPGs you don't see ths because you are the only non NPC person, therefore the Game will focus around you and not have to deal with the 1000s of other people. This is my fear for SW:TOR due to the lack of info they have realeased about the main points of the game. " "We get it you have story but show us some crafting, or PVP or Raids or Mounts or grouping or ANYTHING" but no we get this story fluff which we all know Bioware can do wonderfully, but they need to show us something real. 4. In an MMOs you have interaction, but the stories have to be different for everyone or at least in different parts, which can kill any RP there might be. But hell these are just my fears that I thought about kind of on the spot. I know story takes an important place in MMOs and I hope companies can start to pull it off , but i simply don't know. |

LFGame « General Discussion 10/25/09 1:26:08 PM
you said something about enjoying plainer items and not so shinny...as well as something different from wow and you said you enjoyed AO....
Come play fallen Earth its got what you like...and if you want non-liner...this is the best you go (aside from EvE but that is up for debate) |

Fallen earth or planetside |

well i assume you can reactivate.....all character can transfer over to the new server, which give the game the feeling as it once did you know a populated server and everyone who still plays seems to be enjoying themselves....try it out if you want too |

Originally posted by grandpagamer Vanilla WOW was a great experience, horde or alliance were both fun. You must realize though, that since WOW was your first MMO, you will never get back all of the "magic" that you experienced. Your first experience only happens once. The Words of a wise man..while my first MMO was DAoC it wasnt really mine as i played it at my friends house in two hours shifts between three of us...i picked up SWG and fell in love with the game play the graphics and everything...and for the normal reasons i left like most of the population and that magic can never be replaced..i was in the beta for FE didn't really like how all the ideas came together but i feel as if i never really gave it a shot...hell i almost thought of going back to WAR...played LOTRO for a month but had a lot more fun in Monster play then i did in the game its self, but i will say the game/graphics/community is solid and maybe im just not a captain kind of guy, DAoC is always on edge but i really just don't want to take the time to DL it if i will end up not playing it for even two weeks, waiting for TOR and STO because i feel as those have the most ability to deliver. but in all honesty if my hopes are drowned by those two then GW2 might be my last hope for MMOs which i have no doubts in Anets ability and GW2 will take the cake. |

Guild Wars 2: World PvP to Make Use of RTS Elements
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/10/09 2:55:44 PM
this is a great idea and lets hope it works out for them...cause population problem across servers as well as PUG Vs set teams could wreak this but if the numbers do expand to 300VS200 then it should matter but those with stronger leaders and if VoIP is put into the game in a way that leader can limit it to Who speaks and who listens to cause those who would leader to have more control while those who are not they can still type to input ideas but not cause chaos throughout the team
this is among my first few ideas about how this system will go down but so far only one opinion means anything: This could be awesome and i have no doubt in Anet |

Why isn't "Lord of the Rings Online" more popular?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/03/09 4:13:15 AM
i really don't know why people complain about Monster play TBH it reminds me somewhat of Old DAoC rvr...i really enjoy it and my Black Arrow. Plays as the "creeps" really seems to bring out the mob mentality of the Orc armies. and yeah we are underpowered but when we have numbers on our side...i don't know i feel like this is a good places for the game and both sidse are good since the Orcs are more about numbers anyhow and the free people are supposed to be heros and all |

Is AION the most professional launch we have ever seen?
General Discussion « Aion 9/20/09 3:39:41 PM
TBH the game was launched in Asia....so long ago that most of the simple launch bugs should have been hammered out...Not trying to be a hater on a success game...just stating that only the language barrier should have stopped them....i wasnt a huge fan off the bat but all the hype has made me want to try this but dont want to fork over cash for it hopefully ill win a contest or they will put out a trial |

General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/11/09 2:54:12 AM
if only yo reached level 30 and that was it...balance issues take a huge hold in T4 with simple class imbalances plus gear makes more of a difference then the devs would let on.
however if you have fun stick with it...from i have been hearing Iron Rock's Destro is starting to push order out of the stalemate that i knew it was in for so long (not a whole stale mate but not in IC or Altdorf every two days) Hopefully the server doesnt fall to become a Destro server...goodness knows the game needs at least one server that plays how the game should have been played..
Quite before the summer ended after returning for about 2 months...good times....not good enough. (Still love my CE art book and comic tho) |
