Thank you Mr. Gygax, for all the fun, the teachings, the help dealing with adolescence, for opening our minds and hearts.

Reading these posts, seeing that many people had the same experiences I did... I remember my beginning, with AD&D, the wonder of imagining an entire world, living in it, interacting with it. And then Vampire, Werewolf, and then back to D&D. The Saturday afternoons with friends, laughing, playing, battling, hunting, creating... And the recent times: MMORPGs. The fun, the interaction... All because of this man.

Don't rest in peace Mr. Gygax: keep fighting, riding, casting, dodging - mastering! Wherever you are.

I have to say: I love cartoon style graphics (cartoon, not manga or anime - personal choice). I loved WoW style, characters, ambiance. I love CoX look and characters. I'm not against the reality style from most games, I'm just annoyed by how f***ing ugly characters are: D&DO, EQ2 (EQ too), SWG have men and women so damn ugly that scare me and really spoil the fun for me. My female bounty hunter in SWG has such and awful butt I wish I had made a man!

If only the game engines could generate nice looking male and female models...

Hi, I started the trial on SWG this week and while the game feels interesting, I'm a bit lost in Tatooine, even after the tutorial. So, I'm looking to join a Guild so I can get help, directions - if the game proves to be good, I might subscribe it.

But as I'm restricted in chat (even with a limit due to my trial account), I'd like to join a Teamspeak-able Guild, preferably.

I'm playing in Bria.

Although I agree the MMOG world doesn't need another superhero game, I must say I'm thrilled after I saw the website. And I loved the cell-shading. Now I really need to get my hands on a copy of Champion RPG, which I never heard of.

Try City of Heroes/Villains. People are helpful. I've been playing for a year now and met lots of players who are above 16 - many couples and parents playing. In the end, it's very nice, even in the low level zones people don't call you noob for asking questions. It's an awesome game.

This is nice, but when is the City of Heroes/Villains "community stats" coming? Does anyone have any idea?

Does it really matter how many subs WoW has? Wouldn't it be much more relevant to know how many subs are active?? Like, how many accounts have been active for more than 3 months??

Why wouldn't NCSoft want to rehire one of the main people responsible for CoX?

As for the prestige grant and debt wipe, it sounds to me much like the ancient policy "bread and circus for the masses" - "...forget we've bought your wonderful game... don't mind the implications of it..."

NCSoft could implement in-game ad in City of Heroes/Villains. It wouldn't be weird for a superbeing to have to shave his beard or her legs with Gillette! Or drink a refreshing Coke after going through a raid... And for the right price, I wouldn't mind selling my cape to Microsoft... I mean, loading an area in a fantasy MMOG with Mitsubishi's ad would spoil the immersion experience. But not in present-day MMOGs. It would lower the subscription fee and, in City, make ALL those servers useful. And in the long term, guarantee that City would run for a long time, with DC and SOE's, and Marvel and NCSoft's MMORPGs on the (distant) horizons.

I just wanted to say that as I play WoW with my top character being lvl15, I couldn't care less for another player with a lvl 60 character. I play my game, not everyone else's.

I believe a game gets repetitive when there's only a few things to do: kill monsters, loot, sell, get new mission, kill monsters... But CoX has so much more! There's the character creation and the possibility of creating new costumes, improving them, acquiring special effects for your character; adventuring in the forms of battling foes on the streets or in instanced missions, solo or teaming-up, with or without your nemesis (Heroes/Villains), robbing banks and causing mayhem as a Villain or trying to stop them as a Heroe, going into the special missions; gathering money and items to create items, selling them and getting richer at the auction establishments; searching for badges; respecing; building your supergroup base, raiding the Heroe's bases as a Villain; getting to level 50 with a Heroe just to be able to play with the special character classes; going to the Pocket-D night club; PvPing one-on-one, team-on-team, Supergroup-on-Supergroup and even collecting Gladiators to let them fight your PvP battles; saving people, killing people... And don't forget: it's two games for the price of one!

CoX could improve in many ways but it's already a great looking game, with easy tutorials, easy gameplay, easy chatting and grouping  (and I'm comparing this with WoW, which I also love).

Now, about the empty servers, I never understood why CoX has so many servers. Even at its peaks, you can only see Freedom and Virtue full, the other barely make it moderate. If they merged some, it would end this bad impression the game leaves on newcomers.

Agreed. SOE may be the devil incarnate (specially after you rewatch the Matrix movies and play MxO) but at least that helps people in need, brings attention to those who didn't know about MMORPGs and shows concerned parents one actual positive thing coming out of that "blasted game" their children keep playing at all times.
