A few questions about the American education system
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 6/29/09 4:43:42 PM
The size of your country compared to the size of the UK may have something to do with the amount of schools of recognition. Additionally schools of recognition is more a matter of establishing yourself as a place for educated people, and since USA is the superpower in the world it kind of automatically becomes the obvious place for anyone with half a brain to go. I don't think the quality of your school system got anything to do with the amount of schools of recognition in your country. |

What main components would you like to see in MMORPGS in 2010 and beyond?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/29/09 4:37:28 PM
Those three points are the ones I'd love to see in a PvE MMORPG. A world where the players create and do everything that's being done and a world with seemingly living enemies wanting to kill you. Preferable would also be if the game was placed in a different world than your typical fantasy one. |

That's the top three ones, but I got some other ones such as: Think that's about it. I think. In all honesty I'm not entirely sure I think GW2 should be GW2 and not just a bigger expansion: GW got so much that needs to be kept for sequel that the game pretty much just becomes the same but with some additional features. GW2 should just be an improved GW, without any very big changes, and that is more along a expansion. I'll still look forward to GW2, but I won't try to get my hopes up as I believe it won't be as good as I want it to be. |

They look like Kiss. Only slightly more ridiculous. The stage is overdone, to say the least. |

I would make a flash game with some friend during my spare time so the actual money input was nonexistent then I would release it on Xbox Live Arcade. Of course I would make a game that would have awesome multiplayer so everyone would buy it. And then I would be as rich as The Behemoth are. I would of course release Tetris if I'd came up with it and done it myself, but now some other guy came up with it quite a lot of years ago... And I think I'd need rights to publish it too. So in the end that'd probably turn out expensive. |

POLL: Is your favorite MMO your first MMO?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/26/09 4:31:01 PM
My first MMO was Runescape, but since that doesn't really count my first MMO was WoW. And no, it's definitely not my favorite MMO, in all honesty I think WoW is a horrible game in so many ways. To answer your plus question: no. I'm enjoying GW greatly and that wasn't my first MMO, counting from when I started playing it seriously it's probably my third or fourth MMO actually. |

That is how I personally would like to see it being made. |

Lucky for you the developers just implemented a new dungeon in the latest update! The new dungeon is the old dungeon but in different colors(!) with the same bosses but they now do slightly more damage and got slightly more health, and of course have a different color(!). There you can now get a super leet sword that's over over 9000. And when you get that there will always be a new dungeon... And to OP: that's how GW is really. And I love it too. That's one of the things WoW did so bad: your character looks really bad if it doesn't have epic gear, and then it will almost always be mismatched pieces of different sets. Looks mean a lot, and it's kind of disappointing to see that the character you've put 1000+ hours into looks horrible because you've not managed to get a full set. WoW would really have been improved if you could choose skin and then add stats to it, while still having epic skins of course. Disregarding WoW however, as I said looks mean a lot. People will put money into looking good and as long as there's epic expensive armor to get it will be a motivation. If the stats are exactly the same is insignificant really since you'll still have shiny new epic gear that no one else got. That you then don't automatically become a better player because of it isn't as important as you still look like a better player, and a hawter one too. I like the idea personally. You remove the unfair and idiotic superiority given to players that simply got no lives and favor players that are good, regardless of how much they play. Having played a lot shouldn't by itself be enough to make you better, only skill should do that. If the game has PvP this is pretty much a must since the way to PvP is balance, and differences in gear will make PvP unbalanced and less a matter of what it should be - fair competition where the winner wins by skill. As a final note your question ("Would you play, or miss collecting gear?") is kind of wrong since you will still have different gear to collect, most likely even more than before, only this time you do it because you'll look better - better as in hawter and better as in a better player. |

If the rest of the game was good yes. The two aspects he present I find to be rather insignificant if the rest of the game was good enough to compensate for it. |

Do you believe in love and sex and magic?

I'll have to agree with that too. Especially since the original movie is unavailable for my country. |

If you as a Canadian don't have anything to talk about how is anyone else supposed to have something to talk about? |

If you don't spend 100+ hours it's not even going to be half-finished so anything below that is impossible. And if I had the tools, an idea and belief in my project I would spend 100+ hours. |

I know. I'm probably going to rewrite this guide to make it better in many ways, especially the one you described: the fact that some professions really... shouldn't use a secondary because of the lack of synergies. Mesmer is a profession that on it's own does what it's intended to do very well and because of the lack of other professions that do similar things going Mesmer only is typically good. |

What...? You want a job? And do you want to reach max level quickly or... just keep on leveling up in an infinity? |

Never heard about Liberal Quakers but I suppose they fit decently. Knew from before that Buddhism and Taoism were pretty close to what I believe in. |

The last MMORPG you played where you went, Wow! This is fun!
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/21/09 9:01:20 AM
Guild Wars. Most likely because I've been playing only that game for a long time now. Before that it was probably the character creation system in CoH/CoV, never found the game very fun but the character creation was just really good. |

Assuming you run an Imbagon with one pure healer that's 6 open slots. 6 slots that can run almost any bar they want thanks to the amazing defense an Imbagon provides. No the Imbagon in itself may not have much help to add, but thanks to it's amazing defense it frees up others to take that. The Imbagon is so good because it's a team game - you don't have to do everything yourself. Additionally with all PvE-only skills you can use them if it's additional utility you want. And to your final note, Imbagons works just as good in player groups as in H/H groups. Just because a player group can spread out doesn't mean they should, only a really dumb group would split away from the Imbagon. |

On Terrorist Watch List, but Allowed to Buy Guns
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 6/20/09 4:06:26 PM
That list is a piece of shit really. Another attempt to fight terror when all it's doing is sacrificing human rights. If we in the fight against terrorism lose all that we stand for and become terrorists ourselves, then what's the point of it? |

The Current Limited Skill Deck System is not Pug Friendly for a MMO (GW2)
Lion's Arch (General) « Guild Wars 6/20/09 3:56:59 PM
In all honesty I've soloed all except 4-5 missions in both NM and HM, and almost never changed the bars. That you can solo the missions in NM isn't so strange considering that they are sooooooo easy really, anything works as long as it got some heals and some damage, in HM you need to have good builds at least... But then GW idea is good, but the problem is that the "hard" places don't become hard, they become impossible: you have to run a strange gimmick relying on permasins and whatnot. If you've ever tried SoO in HM with a balanced team you should know what I'm talking about. I would very much like to see the idea becoming better done in GW2 by allowing you to run some semi-balanced builds and the difficulty being beatable by being clever. |
