Macs are just priced out of competition. For MacBook you can get at best a 6750M for $2000. For an iMac you can get a 6970M for $2000, and a 6750M for $1200. Its just too expensive for these relatively cheap parts. If you decide not to spend that kind of money which alot dont, then you are stuck with a graphics chip that simply is not powerful enough to run most 3D games. |

I love MSI. They have the cajones to try some things for the prices they put out. Typically their GPUs are better clocked then simliar priced competitors. They also use better after market solutions like the Twin Freezer on their GPUs. The fault however, is that they have a higher percent of faulty hardware shipped compared to its competitors. Thats just the gamble you take with the company, but the payoff is great as long as you get working products. |

RAT9 is just a wireless version of the RAT7. I can't really recommend a wireless mouse over a wired mouse. You sometimes have response time issues, connection issues, and battery issues with wireless mice. |

Bulldozer, AMD's official branded Liquid CPU Cooling System, and more..
Hardware « General Discussion 10/14/11 10:37:23 PM
There isn't enough resources given to programmers to make more optimized threaded games. I think the appeal of working 60 hour weeks for $50k isn't there. You can make alot more in other sectors. Also alot of game budgets for the research part is being decreased as more companies adopt middle-ware engines. The instead focus those resources to non-essential portions such as voice actors, IP licenses, and Content Writers. A well managed game company with mostly programers is going to do well in the gaming industry, but I think too much influence is being brought in from the enertainment sector to produce this type of company. |

Anyone else notice nearly all the tech sites used the same benchmark. Asus Crosshair V, and a nVidia GTX 570 or 580? Seems this might also be a problem with the performance as the results were better when using AMD GPUs. |

Just what I was hoping for. A drop in chip for a dual socket G34 that has superior rendering capabilities. I think AMD has offered up a good chip when you put it into context. In single threaded apps, it performs about the same as a Thuban core. In multi-threaded apps its better. The thing to remember is that in single threaded apps, its not like they require anything more then a Thuban. Right now in the context of gaming, poorly threaded games are more graphics bound then processor bound. In multi-threaded games like RTS, you will see an advantage with Bulldozer. Over the last decade, the need for the most powerful CPU has dwindled in the consumer sector. The thing that makes AMD still viable is the entire platform. When it comes to integrated graphics, any AMD chip is better then even the most powerful Intel. When it comes to modern support. You have more PCI-e lines running through AMD chips then Intel. My generation old 880FX has SATA 6, and USB 3.0 that is still difficult to come by on Intel branded motherboards. That said, I don't think the current crop of Zambezi will do well. I think the APU versions will sell better, and there is definetly a bug in them that isn't making them work properly. |

I patched mine good, and also put in a nice little Rageconfig.cfg in to give me configuration options. Running great now, but used to run like that. |

Mc Donalds or Burger King? Who do you like more?

Burger King. They actually do a better job with the process in prepping the food. I really don't prefer either and avoid both. There is a reason you can barely look back into the kitchen at both. Both are half assed food at the same cost and time. I really like Carl's Jr/Hardees. They bring the food to my table and cook the things. I can also get Taco Shop food there, and since I live near the border it isn't as bad as other fast food mexican restaurants. I also like Jack in the Box's bathrooms. As long as its not a heavily trafficed restaurant, its usually really clean inside. But when you look back into the kitchen you see all the deep fryers. You taste the food and you know how it was prepped. |

The 2500 is a second generation Core i processor. Its done on a smaller node so it will have several advantages over a previous gen processor. If I was building a new Intel system, I would definetly pick the Core i5 2500. |

How do we answer in the job interview? WHY SHOULD WE HIRE YOU?
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 10/02/11 10:34:01 PM
Hopefully there is more then 1 person interviewing you. I hate when its only 1 person because right from the start it could be hit or miss for the entire interview. Also hate when its an HR manager and not the person in charge of the department. Alot of times HR managers hire on their predetermined guidelings of what an interviewee should say. A department head knows exactly what he wants and usually the BS the HR manager looks for is not it. In an interview you have a pretty good shot of getting hired at that point. Usually its a 20% chance by the first interview, and 50% for any follow-up interviews. You got to the interview based on your resume. So keep in mind whats on there as you want to highlight it half the time. The other half the time you want to show them you have good communication skills and fit the company better then the other candidates. This is even if you have no interest in whatever project they are working on. You don't have to love something to do it well. |

You are lost in a rainforest and this is all you find to eat

Yellow. The skin might be poisoned. The innards probably not. Probably would not eat in the first place. If you are in the rain forest and cannot find anything else to eat, you are not looking. |
