The closed beta coming will be a friends and family closed beta for now. They did say they might open future open betas to some public players but that is speculation so far.

Let's hope not, the man had his time.

Could this be the first death throw for WOW?

Right now it's only classified as a MO not an MMO, but i hear he is working toward it being one eventualy.

Lets say that the lazy dungeoun runners finally found they are not good. They heroic dungeouns were never that hard and these players just didn't know how to play their toons. Do understand that Blizzard is a buisness as it caters to the very casual player base mostly, so this is not unexpected.

This seems a good alternative for people who were waiting for JGE. Even though it's browser based i still think from the trailer they showed that it will draw a good size player base.

She doesn't look all that playful.

Instancing just became a way for PvE players who didn't want to compete for open world bosses, basically the developers just dumbed down the world instead of making challenges or competitve play style.

100% agree with this. Man do I miss Vallon Zek (Velious era)

Nah .. camping, and taking rotation on bosses is LESS challenging and MORE boredom. There is no challenge if 10 other groups help you with the boss (so that they can get their turn faster).

If i want to compete, i play PvP. Challenging well designed instance PvE encounters are what i play PvE for. And if you think there is no instance challenging PvE content, tell me you are one of those two or three groups who have down the end hardmode boss in CATA. Otherwise, you have no crediblity.

What WOW had in the begining dealing with open world instanced world bosses was very good but then after BC they screwed it up and made all world bosses less important with gear grinding. I don't mind their are bosses for the PvE crowd who just want the gear but the end game world bosses should be fought for between guilds for the prestige.

Ever since then they have made it easier with bosses and not really gave big challenges with some of them, sure you can increase the HP of bosses but wish they add some new tatics once and a while to keep them challenging.

See if you like it when you're playing tennis with your mate and I park a big truck in the middle of the court. Does that make the game more challenging to you, hmm?

You are using "dumbing down" wrongly.

That analogy is just making something impossible to play around.

The problem here is with devs who set things up so players had to compete for open world bosses.  In a real persistant open world people would not have to do stupid stuff like this.  They limited player freedom and players told them to stuff it.

No the problem was the devs made the instanced bosses just as important as the world bosses or even better, world bosses are to be competed over. I understand if people wanted to fight bosses but i love it when there is a challenge to getting to the bosses or PvP to compete for them.

Now a days it's to predicatble to know how a boss or it's minions act.

It's not just game, it's the whole internet era.   All these kids born in the 90's never lived in world without internet or cell phone.  How do you expect them to understand games that were made when DOS was the operating system.

Just tell me what this is.

If your 20 years old or less it's normal not to know.

That better not be my Orcs & Humans game!

Caught this fun vid of french Canadian kids trying to figure out 30 year old tech.

May just try this.

Beware Mike B, the squirrles will get their revenge one day.

I can't play if i feel like crap but yeah being sick sometimes is a good day for gaming.

I like what he said, least you don't have to wait for a tank, healer  or CC to go defeat a boss when puging or on a last minute guild grouping.

Some of the best crafting is on that list and hard not to disagree with it.

problem is that in games there's no repurcussions to anti social behaviour, unlike in real life.  If developers could come up with a system that allowed random murder but also penalized someone HEAVILY for taking part in it if caught, then you'd have something.  Like once someone was flagged as a murderer, if they are "caught" or killed they suffer permadeath.

I always thought a game that had open PVP but yet had some sort of in game player run justice system would be an awesome game.  You'd have players that hunted the gankers, some sort of judge and jury system, etc.  Sentencing the player to "jail" made that character unplayable for a certain amount of time, executing them results in permadeath.  I dunno, there's tons of cool stuff you could do, just no developer has the balls to do some truely innovative and completely new features anymore.

There are a few games out there that have penalties for killing players in PvP, they just have a gradual build up on the number of kills.

I concur that greifing is just purely for spite while ganking is a legitimate form of PvP. Both are not liked by the pure PvE crowd but getting ganked is just part of the game with PvP instituted.

I don't condone gate camping or griefing but i will gank someone if they are considered the enemy in the game i play. Also i have been on both ends of the PvP spectrum.
