MMO's that kinda big term.  MMO(RPG)  aint what they used to be cause the term is outdated.

Any game whit character stats that grow in time is called a MMORPG these days and sadly, they got the right to call it that.

games like UO,SWG,EVE should get a new term. its not a roleplay game but a vitural live game. so ermm

MMOVLG ?  meaning that is has openworld design (sandbox) open character design (while swg abandont this to a degree it still is fairly open)

economic game to a degree

basicly anyting that  can be done in RL. go were you like, how you like, when you like for whatever reason you desire.

While I disagreed whit alot you said during the past years as silent reader Freedom of choose if yours and mine.

F2P is here to stay in its conman monney grabbing ways and honest bussinessmodel ways.

Infact it will only get bigger, its most likely that in a few years every mmo that will come out has the choise of F2P.

Subcriptions will stop being $15 soonish and rise till about $25/30 , development of MMO becomes more and more expencive, hardware and running its cost more, the coders cost more. marketing cost more.  thus making F2P (time based payment models) more intresting and in the end that minority that refuses F2P now will give in. (never admit they will tho ;) )

sad to hear, it was a good game , it realy was, but unfortunate the developer had the wrong publisher from the start.

little to no marketing made sure that it stayed a low population game and were there is low population new people wont stay.

MMO's are desight around the ( massive) if it lacks that ..well nothing you can do

While im not a DF  fan, it happens!

get over it :) , every single MMO has days like this, there is not one mmo out there that has not bin offline for a long time deu some weird reason whitout telling ther customers why. Uo,EQ,SWG,CoX,Mortal,DF,AION,EVE name the entire list and it has happent and probaly will again.

The thing you gota do is think if DF is the game for you,  sutch fustration over a day downtime does not stand on its own.

Na, It aint the MMORPG players. ( why do you exclude MMOFPS, MMORTS and alike) .

Its the entire Online comunity.  No connection to RL , no responsabily's  moms and dads that are used to wine for along there bin tha internet and  there kids now growing up getting active themselfs  being compleet asshats online never learned to behave online as they would in RL.

before next generation we all be forced to use our RL names and ID's , might help a bit.

That is a terrible idea. I, along with probably the entire gaming community, play MMORPG's and video games in general so I can escape (if you will) my hum-drum reality. We don't want any connection between our games and RL, unless we're playing with friends.

Forcing us to use our real names and supply real identification to prove that's who we are is THE dumbest idea I have ever heard, in any situation.

Never said It was a good idea, but its how it will go.  see you canT re-educate millions of people, it would require a program that would start in schools worldwide and a massive "ad" campain by every western nation ( duno about them eastern folks)

So, how do you stop random users being made on forums that troll and hurt your game. how do you identify harmfull antisocial people. by locking there RL ID to there game acound. it will take a while, might even take 20 years. but it will happen. every online system will in the end be linked to a internet wide ID system.

goverments would not mind at all its good for security.  and companys would love it as well as it will increase there product security and likely give better stats for ad's and alike.  not that it be that big of a diference or do you realy believe that ALL you do is not recorded somewere and stored on some disk around the globe.

every day you go to work you are recorded by atlest 100 camera's every week you generate pages of data while surfing the web , playing games and using your fav social site.

It will happen,  and it will solve the mayor bad habbits/ghaos we see now.

Is it good or bad.. meh.. it just is.

Net Neutrality , funny word. the internet is controlled by commersial bussiness and goverments. never bin, and never will be someting called net neutrality .

all there is be privacy protection, its the only thing that counts and woth fighting for. all else is media hype bullshit. all bout the moneys..

UK aint europe.  ...  you play along on both sides ;)

Im actually not too worried about tech support.  Ive had dell computers for probably close to 10 years and have never thought to call tech support, if I do manage to have a problem I usually have more luck finding my answers online anyways.

This computer isnt necessarily just for FF, I do like to watch movies and such as well.  My computer is probably around 5 years old and It is just getting a tad slow browsing online FF was just my last excuse to buy one.  I know people might be amazed by my lack of knowledge with pcs, but even browsing through these I dont really know too much what im looking at other than the prices.  And going to stores and asking the employees never really works for me, they are just pushing the sale for the most part.

Im not exactly looking for the best deal out there, like I said im willing to spend the cash. (just nothing crazy, 1600 is probably the max im willing to spend) afterall im wanting this machine to last me a good while.  What would everyone else go after with this kind of budget? Again, no monitor is needed.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong . b  eeek!!!!!!   :)

Basic customer error.  lesson one. a new rig will last you at max 5 years ( if your lucky)  before it totaly gives up whit a silent explotion.

Old systems were simple, robust , that why those 1980 models still run ,  the more complicated the tech becomes the harder it is to maintain a long live.

thats why there are laws for it nowadays ( atleast in europe)  that forces factorys to give a minimal of 3 years live expectancy warranty when used normaly ( open to discussion what normaly is...)

If you live in the US or China its cheaper to build your own ( if you know what your doing and stay away from "populair gaming brands)

If you live in the euro zone, forget it.  the market is so tight that building your own will cost you more. but you will have a better quality pc as factory build systems always show that great proccesor but lack to tell you  that the memory  is the slowest and cheapest type they could find in taiwan.  same usaly goos for the PSU (power)  its usaly a exsact fit. some have the nerve to drop in a intel mainbord whit a shitty chipset all to reduce there cost and present you whit a nice price for a great gaming system ( on the outsite)

what you need.

a good mainbord. no need for the most costly one but stay whit the Brands

a good videocard ofc, again realy no need to play loads of money for it, its cheaper to replease a videocard once it gets outdated for your games then trying to keep up.

sound is onboard the mainbord and should be enoug for anyone not in the music industry.

memory , just take a local brand of high speed. forget the hyper super colled platium protected giga stuff , wont do you any to pay 50/100% more whit it does nothing but add a little shine.

CPU ofc, cant realy save on that if you want a fast machine but experience tells me that 2.4ghz multi core works just as well as 3ghz. ( do not, nowadays its no longer the speed (to a degree)  that affects preformance but the type of CPU , quad, 7 i5 i3 they difern quiete a bit. try to read up on that. google some preformance test of same speed cpu's of diferent types)

PSU , make sure its surplus of that you need. and know this. running a good gaming  rig is as expencie as ownning a hummer and driving it eacch day .the cost on your power bill can rise dramaticly depending how mutch you game.

A gamer not only uses his own power for his/her rig,  but also need the service of google. google needs too run servers, your mmo needs to run servers , the internet "relays"need to run.  its a shared cost but its not verry ecco friendly. so have fun whit you new to be rig, but do turn it off when you leave the house.

This error has often more to do whit your system then whit the game, MO launch files do not come whit the latest system files.

There are several post on the Mortal forum about that error.

Also note that MO is a real beta, not a open beta / happy play time test as people come to expect of other titles like aion.

The crash ingame when going to a sertain location has to do whit your videocard, it are specific settings in the game settings.

Again there are several post about that to on the Mortal Forums.

If you wish to playtest the game you can look it up, if you just wana complain about a beta, have fun :)

Im not sure if they mannage to fix it before launch but untill then i reserve judgement.

Want super grapics check out AOC instances and see what you get. you cant compare singleplayer games to MMO 's anyone who knows a little about MMO's know that.

Mortal for exsample is using the latest engines but they cant fully use it for a open world like that would make every system explode .

MMO= lower grapics or small area instances.  you cant have a open world design and high end grapics , and realy grapics only have a short time cool factor, takes you a week to say..meh yea its nice,  a month and its meh yea its ok,  a year and its just meh.

Played wow back when it came out, got bored whitin two weeks,

Played Allods on first day, got bored whitin two days.

WoW wins. but allods surely got the same gameplay ;)

Im not a CO player, nor a ST fan, Im a general sci-fi-mmo  fan.

The game in my opinion  is not a good mmo, a other rushed mmo missing tons of core features ontop of super instance gameplay

DDO is free to play. All of it, BUT.  its a long road to get it all Free.

As you create a character ona  new server and play true the entire newby zone + a few harbor quest you collect around 100 store points ( playing quest on elite )
you can do this once on every server. after that you get a bit less but still grind able size of store points.
just keep making and deleting a new character over and over  and over again.

Have one main character to play whit for real/fun  and unlock the races whit that toon (as it gathers points you will unlock the races always bin that way, to buy them is just to unlock them on every server instead)

I played for quite a while, and whenever I feel up to it or just have trouble find a group for my main I go and create a new character again for some points. sofar I have unlocked about 70% of all store packs.

in basic, DDO rewards players for playing, as population of a game is important , the real new guys get ppl to play whit then.
The OP talks about vets as they were running fast WW, well they are no vets. they are ppl who hear the rewards are good and xp is good and thus keep running the same quest over and over again whit no clue about the game itself.

DDO has become a great game to play if your into the style. I like it from time to time while being bored of other games.

Like CO, STO will also have a  cash shop, no worries about that.  Think the MMORPG beta review also says so.

And to people interested in this game, read all 3 parts. collect all negative info and consider he/she is ....mild / nice toward it.

While I dislike items that add flavor exclusive to people I cant speak against it as long its flavor, its our own weakness we want it all.

Its a unlimited trial.

In no way you can say this game is free to play , most options in the game are disabled meaning once you reach level 7 you wont be able to level anymore unless you put in hunderds of hours gaining small bits of xp.

you have limited inv space and cant use a bank as thats for "normal" or Premium members only. you cant sell things on the auctions. you cant use higher end weapons cloth boosters and other gear.

It was a bit of fun playing for 2 hours but then is just boring as you need to do the same stuff over and over again as trial member.

For those who are confined to there room due to some freaky accident it be fun to try out for two hours, keeps the boredom out.

for everyone else , Don't even try it. its a waist of time and energy.

*grin*  good promoting here..

30 codes, ( asuming its mmorppg exclusive) 2000 beta jumpers ...  big chance... ;)

First, let me get this out of the way. Yes, I know the game is all about PvP combat, ganking, takin' ur lewtz, etc. I'm hoping the community doesn't turn this into Darkfall Round 2. Nevertheless, RPers also have purchase price + sub rate to spend, and we are gladly willing to do so if the game addresses the kinds of things we go for. So, for all you hardcore PKing, "U will b ganked til u quit LAWLZ QQ more nub" types, with all due respect, this ain't for you. QQ in someone else's thread. kthxbai.

Now, for the RPers. If you've been able to get a copy, please, please keep the rest of us in mind as you test out the world and report your findings. Even the little, seemingly insignificant things like sitting in chairs, having common interior locations to gather in, like taverns and inns (both of which seem to be absent in the other fantasy-themed PvP MMO out there that I'll only name once in this post.) Please let Star Vault know that these little details are a seasoning to the overall flavor of a game and is the kind of thing that keeps our interest when we're not out doing combat. Also, please let the rest of us know how it looks from a RPers' standpoint.

It would be greatly appreciated.

Beta starts the 20th for me (if all goos well)

As soon the NDA is lifted (wil be a while) I shall make a nice RP review.
As for sitting and other flavor and mechanic enchancements I will request them, depending on if there in or not ofcource. but seeing you can build houses and town I suspect it be in
as will the other roleplayers. and yes there plenty of roleplayers in MO, We Carebears have claws you know..

Dint read everyting..or anyting realy, just the tread name..

No it does not cost that..

when the game is gold / live it will cost you 50 euro and the normal 14,95- a month ( subject to chance ofcource)
everyone in europe pays 25% VAT , thats the VAT you pay when buying any product from sweden.

US and asia pay there own local VAT.

any prize you see in the shop is the prize inc VAT.  subs are incl VAT.

German, dutch, spain, any euro country pay product orgin VAT. any prize add in europe for worldwide sale Must be incl vat. and local shop that does ship out worldwide must incl vat % bevore charge.

The game itself is no more expencive then any other game.  its early acces and pre-sale is more expencive, and why not..

Up to you if you wana pay the prize or wait for the lower prize and get the risk of not getting in for a good while as most they do is open one or two servers (depending on server stress)  untill afther going live.
